Nobody literally _looks through_ these giant scopes, AFAIK they don't even bother making eyepieces for them. They exclusively take photos using their cameras / sensors.
It would be really cool to have an eyepiece made for a scope like that, and look through it. The collecting area is so huge that you would be able to see galaxies and other deep sky objects with your eye that normally require a multi-hour exposure to create a photo of. But making an eyepiece and letting somebody look through it would be an unjustifiable frivolity when research time on the telescope is in such demand. If a bored billionaire built a telescope this size I guess they could make an eyepiece for it and look through it.

Folks, the days (or nights) of “looking through” major observatory telescopes are long gone. What’s attached at the various focal points of the telescope are not eyepieces but are digital cameras, photometers and spectrometers. The output is viewed on a monitor away from the telescope in another part of the observatory or even remotely.

Magnification is a function of the focal length of the primary mirror and the focal length of the eyepiece. Change the eyepiece and you change the magnification.
The reality is no one ever “looks” through an eyepiece in these large telescopes. The light is typically sent to a camera of spectrometer that’s monitored of a digital screen.
