I've never been a ringer but can appreciate both the ringing and the amazing engineering involved in the creation of the 'instruments'. Plus, of course, the dedication of those that make music in this way as their service to the Almighty.

This is a fantastic video. Finally heard the bells after many years of wondering what they sound like - glorious and old style! Thanks for posting this.

I'm so pleased that you enjoyed my little film. The bells have been very well received, albeit somewhat quieter at the moment with the social distancing rules. Even the clock now strikes again which is good, as there is no face and it strikes quarters to compensate. Thank you for your comments. ~ Stay safe! JMW

      Thank you Derek
A truly medieval process within the limits of the City of London. Sadly, after so many years the production has since been distributed elsewhere in the U.K.

The foundry is not in the city, just outside.
My sister in law Ann has one of the bell wheels in her Garden in Crewkerne, or it it Crookun as the locals pronounce it.
Wonder if Timothy F Collins has turned in the tenor to some Surprise Max

Thank you for your comment Steven. Only Roger Fox would know the answer to your technical question. I must say that my understanding re the city limits is different. But so be it. I hope that you enjoyed the film.

@@johnmwarr my sister in law knows Roger, her name is Ann, my brother used to before captain at At Bart's Crewkerne.
He was sick for years and died in 2011
We rang a peal of Yorkshire at Crewkerne, it took 3hrs 20 minutes
      Slow going.
My oldman was a bell hanger at Whitechapel till we moved to Aus I. 72.
My sister in law was at the casting of the bells.
      Very sad Whitechapel closed
I can honestly say it was almost home to me, my earliest memories are of the foundry and knew all the old boys

@@Steven_Rowe Happy memories there then Steven.
I was intrigued by the whole process and Mr. Hughes was a very knowledgeable man who was doing his best to keep the tradition alive in a harsh business environment.
I think he succeeded in this even if the site had to close, the knowledge was handed on.
      Kind regards. ~ Martin Warr.

@@johnmwarr My sister in Law Ann rings at Bradpole and also Hardington Mandeville, if you bump I to her ask her about my old Dad Ernie Rowe, the bell foundry mischief maker.
      He was the practical joker
      Her last name is Medley.
