I had a German Short-haired pointer. He was a great hunting dog. He wasn't a beautiful dog but had a great nose. He had such a gentle mouth. He could point on a bird in a field of mustard grass. I love the dog show and watch every year, but just remember that beauty doesn't equate to being a dog that is great at being able to do what they were intended to do.
I love the Chesapeake Bay Retriever. They are the best dog if you're active. I just lost my girl of almost 16yrs. last year. I miss her every day. They play hard and give you their all.
Loved the two Springers - the English and the rarer Welsh, and the English Cocker. Also liked the Irish Setter and the Bracco Italiano. All of them were beautifully presented.
I wish they would put the breed of dog on the screen and in bold type, it would be very helpful. I see a commenter gave the names of all dogs and their location in the vid, Very Helpful (Thank You, again, Elizabeth!!)
I'd say shows are important because they set the rules for what a certain breed has to look like. Without this, we would get a few muddled breeds and all dogs would look alike. There has to be a certain standard.
And I believe these dogs are just as loved and they give just as much love to their owners, they just have great breeding and a "job" of attending dog shows.

They're beautiful. I first saw them around 25 yrs ago at a local dog show/expo and was smitten. Though I'm in Ontario, Canada. Glad to see them gaining popularity.

I've never see a lab with such short legs. My neighbors all hunted with labs, so I guess conformation isn't as important as stamina to my neighbors. It looked like a Clumber Spaniel crossed with a Lab.
I thought his legs were a bit too short and he didn’t seem to have much life for a show dog. I know it’s not a field dog with their long legs but it’s not supposed to be a corgi!

The 3 cutest dogs were the Irish Red & White Setter, the Curly Lab, and Lagatto Romagnolo. I don’t know why the cuteness of the face doesn’t factor in. At least one of these should have been part of the final set.

Even when they rub against him, play with his ball to get his attention, which they do even though he isn’t bothered to be completely polite when they are between him and the porch steps when he is running to the grass for the ball.

The IWS my BIS pick. :3 My favorite sporting breed along with the Curly-Coated Retriever. Also particularly fond of the Kooiker, GWP, Lagotto, & Barbet...but the whole group was lovely. So many cuties. And a few breeds my family's had.
The thin choke leads they are using to keep the animals head held up , has been proven to do damage to the nerves in the neck and in many cases shorten the dogs lives . Surprised they get alway with using them .
Why am I not surprised? Amazing what money and status drives humans to do. No one wants a dog slipping a collar and running loose in the auditorium, but there are much softer and nicer (thicker!) slip leads to be had. I mean, who actually LIKES the garrotted look??
As a lifelong owner of Vizslas I can guarantee they are amazing, loyal, and intelligent dogs. Do make sure you have lots of time for exercising them, though!

That lab was disgustingly obese. If the owners and likely breeders of that lab have allowed their dog to get that obese then they are not responsible or ethical, no more info on them is needed to know that they should not be supported.
I dunno what happened to the American Cockers over the years but they all look like they have headaches now. Not disrespecting anyone's dogs. Not so much these three, but still.

Had one before, VERY SWEET but very energetic. Have at least 10 acres to run on. If in the city, have at least 3-5 mile runs each day

That lab was disgustingly obese. If the owners and likely breeders of that lab have allowed their dog to get that obese then they are not responsible or ethical, no more info on them is needed to know that they should not be supported.

I dunno what happened to the American Cockers over the years but they all look like they have headaches now. Not disrespecting anyone's dogs. Not so much these three, but still.

@@Chr1st8l I believe that they're called American Cockers in other countries (other registries than the AKC); and what is called the "Cocker Spaniel" in other countries is called the "English Cocker" in the AKC/United States. Once upon a time, the two breeds were one.
