first, we are Airmen, not soldiers. second, this isnt glorifying war or strikes but it simply shows a side of armed conflict that many dont even know exist. very few want to actually take a life but it Is the job we sign up for when going into the military. war is nasty business and no side is completely innocent. but if someone doesnt put the uniform on and do the dirty work, then many of the posters here wouldnt have the freedom to post. pawns? the military ? i can see your point. here's another point; if you work for somone, You're a pawn too (as you are doing Someone's bidding). there are many bad people in the world and it takes bad people to keep them at bay. im proud to have stood my watch for this country and its citizens (even the assholes that would berate us for doing it). what i find humorous are the folks that call us cowards. the irony of the statement is fascinating.
I'm curious what the psychological difference is between firing from a remote drone and firing from a plane, artillery, or naval ship? I mean really. What's the sudden problem with long distance warfare that hasn't been an issue before?
Sorry this is 8 years late. But when it really started becoming a problem for him in the movie is when he started getting direct orders from higher up commands then his immediate boss to do double taps, intentionally murdering first reaponders. This was sometimes in scenarios like funerals (maybe weddings even can't remember.) Also the director of this movie said that the double taps and strikes used in this movie were all based on real world examples revealed by wikileaks. Julian Assange is currently facing 100 years in jail for these revelations. The one he is specifically being charged for showed us double tab (slaughtering) a group of Router journalists and laughing about it.
@dawle indrajeet - There are 3 songs on the "GOOD KILL" trailer. The opening song is called "Drones" by composer Brian Jackson Harris. www.imdb.com/name/nm5416484/ The 2nd song starting at :24 - 1:24 is called "Forgotten" by composer Joanna de Seynes. The final song is called "Good Kill" by the group "Electroillusion" www.electroillusion.net
Jason Nucker because dialogue from an actor in a movie means so much? Like if he had said it wasnt, that he would be speaking for the entire US govt? get a grip bud, its a movie.
This will never be a debate as it serves the "Military Industrial Complex" perfectly. It's near on as being the perfect weapon in an arsenal that the military powers can boast about. When you look at the Air Force, it makes it one step closer to being redundant. However that isn't going to be for awhile yet, so in the meantime, it will run concurrently. When you look back at video gaming, you have to wonder was there a conception back then that this would eventually be used for military purposes and was this all about training generations under a pretense? or was is it purely coincidental that we would evolve generations later to be good at this. Was it part of a wider programme where by you could desensitise the public to a point that it you would just call it a game and it would have no real tangible associations with the so called real world. Now we have wonderfully blurred the edges to a point that this we can make this seem like a game in any context, it no longer engages our mental faculties to question the why? Sadly even with this film which is post event at best, will barely skim the surface on this issue. It subtly falls into the saying "No point in closing the gate after the horse has bolted" How can you address an issue that has been kept low key for years now, but has and will in the future continue to serve it's purposes. If you want to make a film that is current then I suggest that you look at how robotic warfare will change the landscape of modern warfare, and in time will replace the battlefield soldier. It's a bold statement, but this is what we do as humans. This is being tested right now, but it has raised ethical issues right down to the point can a robot be allowed to break the one major protocol its programmed not to do.... To Kill. So moving swiftly on, as you can see, it's a new era and I daresay that somewhere there's a think tank that has the vision to see automation replace the outdated military service as we know it and bring in the next generation of hi tech, near invincible universal soldier who won't need to eat, sleep, recover.... Hey let's call it the "Terminator" Okay I was joking - well tongue in cheek joke!
This film looks good, and to me it looks like an ANTI-war film. There are comments on this trailer as if the film is "pro - war" or something but I'm not sure why, because it's looks like the purpose of the film is to turn people against the idea of war. I just looked up the synopsis (description) on IMDB, which says, "A family man begins to question the ethics of his job as a drone pilot." - - so yeah, it appears to be an ANTI-war film.
It’s a depiction of how the military industrialization complex’s self propagation as being dependent on sub-stained conflict and how that influences US foreign policy to seek out conflict as a first solution. In turn causing American imperialism around the world as if it were a game played by a more advanced people.
I fail to see the difference between dropping a bomb on someone in a manned plane or doing it in a UAV. death is death and war is war. the soldiers know full well the difference between a video game and an actual live feed.
yes but there is a disconnect, in a plane you can look down, you are actually there you can feel the plane moving you can see all around, with a UAV there is a 12 inch monitor in front of you, you are not actually there, yes they know what they are doing but it doesn't sink as deep as it would if they were actually there.
Just like that fucking American Sniper in that fucking bullshit of a movie, the drone pilots aren't under any threat. This is a better movie than American Sniper in its message.
The Dead Physicist i found it hilarious how at the end of that movie there were thousands upon thousands of people holding American flags when it was an American that he was helping that killed him, how ridiculous.

Well the same argument can be used against Sniper Rifles 1:51 I don't think courage vs coward-ness is a metric needed for a body count. If you're in an organization with a mandatory policy for life insurance, by process of elimination the options are crazy, stupid or mental breakdown. In a perfect world you don't need a military. But I'm gonna see this movie because they would rather fly an F16 instead of a F35 0:10

Pilots of drones don't see what they're doing, that's a fallacy. The pilots just fly, Intel gets to see. They split the duties specifically to avoid the situation in this movie.
War is War, a missile is a missile, nothing has changed, however it's important to question the security of these drones and wheather or not they can be hijacked. + More or our brave men and women are saved.
Interesting. You know, it's funny they mention games here. Wasn't the point of Metal Gear Solid the fact a Metal Gear could launch a nuke anywhere in the planet? Now with the use of drones, that may not be far off.
So this is where hollywood got the idea for this movie. There are serious ethical questions to participating in this kind of war. I'm very thankful I don't live in a place where there are armed drones flying overhead. video.pbs.org/video/2175892463/
This is must my personal opinion. Some wars and conflicts are necessary. But I will say this, No matter where we are in this world Americans will never be safe because of what we are doing around the world to other people in the name of national security and freedom. Let me assure you that somewhere in this world someone somewhere is working on a drone or something to get even with us. It's a feeling I have and we all know it's going to happen. The saying "what goes around comes around" is true. Whatever we are doing to the people in this world is one day going to come back on us and a lot of innocent people are going to dye. That's just a feeling that I have because are and have fucked with a lot of people in this world. ijs
See all the deliberately placed images of GEOENGINEERING i.e. properly known as SRM (Solar Radiation Management) and SAG (Stratospheric Aerosol Geoengineering). They are in many, if not most, movies nowadays. The long white streaky clouds which are deposited by air tankers high up in the stratosphere for the purpose of weather modification. The movie itself looks like utter shite, but that doesn't matter. It's prime motives will be to gain sympathy for drone killers who somewhat have a conscience only when things get too obvious and their pursuant emotional dilemma; and also to keep building images of GEOENGINEERING into our subconsciousness so as to 'normalise' them. Look up Geoengineeringwatch.org for plenty of info.
callum93guerrilla Not theorising. It is fact, well proven through countless hours of research of an undisclosed program hoisted on to an unsuspecting public. There are documents that you can find on line originating from the UN, the US Defence Forces, NATO, NASA and so on. The best place to find citations for these sources is Geoengineeringwatch.org. This site collates the latest updates and information on this subject and many related subjects. Look it up for your edification.
"The movie itself looks like utter shite, but that doesn't matter" actually that is the only fucking thing that matter you stupid fuck, does the movie entertain yes/no. get pout with your conspiracy bullshit please!
lunaticz0r 'Entertainment' is part of the problem. If there is a subversive education inserted, such as with background images for the purposes of normalising something that should otherwise be brought to attention and questioned, then an aware person can only be lead to question the intent of the movie. Entertainment is good if it is coupled with education, but in this case this movie doesn't even look like entertainment. It looks serious on the surface, but delving deeper one sees it is in itself a type of cover up. Follow my former advice and check out Geoengineeringwatch.org for sobering and illuminating information.
dragonbrad98 Then educate yourself as to what they look like and you will see them. These images are now prolific in many movies and series, etc. Which part of the world do you live in? Look up at the sky and you will see them. Search for information on Geoengineering on the internet and you will find plenty to confirm it. Put in an actual effort and you will get actual results.
What the future holds... looking through the looking glass, it's all going to change, and it has too, What they will do is go back to the drawing board and wipe away what has been there for generations and start afresh. So everything military will have a blank canvas and why not. Who wants all the legacy attached to present or future innovations. You've got to carry all of that dead wood, what for. So we know that the Robotic Age is dawning, we've made some major breakthroughs in "Smart" materials, we got some really sexy science coming forward in Nano-tech, not to mention the darker science of frankensteins sshhh we can't talk about that here, we've got quantum physics rolling around in the corner not making a great deal of impact allegedly so,biowarfare, and whatever else we've hidden in the cupboard. So between all of that yes we can create the Sorcerers Apprentice's little toy....Can't wait to see what it is. I liked the funky little creature they came up with in Automata at the end. :)
This movie is so underrated!!!
Ethan Hawke is that dude, criminally underrated
Michael Wickstrom & Brian Jackson Harris of the band "Electroillusion" have created some very awesome dynamic sounds in this movie.
A highly cerebral thriller! Over looked Ethan Killed it!!

what's the first music in this trailer called?
what is the piece of music which plays from 1:24 and after that..??

Wow really like Ethan's character, seems intriguing!
Every character he plays is intriguing...Predestination,Training Day,Gattaca,Before Sunset, one of the best actors in Hollywood right now
Interesting! Andrew Niccol's movies with Ethan Hawke strike me as a little too cold, but I'm looking forward to this.
I think that’s just Niccoli’s movies and Hawke is in most of them. Was Simone less cold? I didn’t see that one.
sweet badass movie looks like they flimmed it at GA palmdale site nice
"Don't ask me if it's a just war"
Yeah let's avoid that question right?
Jason Nucker because dialogue from an actor in a movie means so much? Like if he had said it wasnt, that he would be speaking for the entire US govt? get a grip bud, its a movie.
We should feel sorry for hypocritical man, who can kill terrorist, but cannot stand killing passerbies during mission? Are you serious?
***** right lol what was andriis fucking point. Is he saying there one in the same thing or somwthing....?

psychedelicrecords Thanks a lot for your response! *Following*
awesome trailer music!
Wheres the movie for the kids that these cowards kill? Are we supposed to feel bad for the main character? poor soldier boy afraid to say "no".
redscare726 wheres the movie for the kids that ISIS is beheading?
redscare726 I'm pretty sure that's the point of the movie--examining a part of war that most people just ignore. It's clearly not glorifying it.
RC1312Kad This movie humanizes the killer, not the victims. We're supposed to feel bad for him cause he's sad that he murdered people.
Well the same argument can be used against Sniper Rifles 1:51 I don't think courage vs coward-ness is a metric needed for a body count. The gcs looks legit. As well as the hud graphix. Acting is a but cliche. No one actually talks like that.
Interesting.
You know, it's funny they mention games here. Wasn't the point of Metal Gear Solid the fact a Metal Gear could launch a nuke anywhere in the planet? Now with the use of drones, that may not be far off.
Is it just me or does January Jones looks a bit out of place here
her dialogue delivery felt off, only from the trailer of course.
astroception it wasn't even that I was thinking about, her appearance seems off like shes a model going to a photo shoot or something
She's really an android :O
Was thinking the exact same thing! almost didn't recognize her.
she's like some military guys wife!
American Sniper: Air Assault edition hahahah basically this has the same plot
I feel like Claire Danes should have been in this movie. Because Carrie "Drone Queen" Mathison...
call of duty 4 mw1,ac130 mission,,Good Kill...
this reeks of a Michael Moore film!!
some ppl will say ,if he don't want it I will do this awesome job, if you got a normal human brain this job will fk your brain 4 ever ,ULTIMATE TRAUMA

Ну опять же фильм про то, как солдату пришлось убить детей и после этого он мучается .(В Американском снайпере такая же херня). Может хватит уже?
Drones suck!
