Nice to see the visit with Mike, he's a great guy. I think your right about the difference between the Axis and the 12-22. The 12-22 is a high production machine. You can slow down to get the wood you want but need the right wedge and mindset. Not to mention the right wood.

The Axis is also great for getting quality firewood from large, ugly tree service type wood. If you are having to resplit and man handle larger rounds on your horizontal splitter, I think the Axis will run pretty even speed wise.
The Axis produces nice size Pieces of wood if you Doing Bundle wood or Boiler wood the Axis is the way to go, 12 22 if the Person is Doing Production where time is money your Splitting Cords of wood per hour 12 22 is the way to Go,
