- Marc Martel is touring New Zealand. He stopped by two New Zealand TV shows "The Project NZ" and "The AM Show". Marc did live one-take Don't Stop Me Now and small a-capella improvisations in the second part of the video.

"Rami sings a little bit in the film, there's a lot of Freddie Mercury obviously, and a lot of Marc Martel. He sent a video to Brian May and Roger Taylor and he sounds exactly like Freddie Mercury. We knew that we had someone we could use for parts that maybe Rami couldn't do and obviously Freddie didn't do. So we were in Abbey Road recording studio for maybe two and a half months with Marc and with Rami, recording bits and pieces that we knew we needed. It's hard to find someone who can sing like Freddie Mercury and I'm not sure the movie would have happened if we didn't have Marc."

I'm a 19yo Italian male and I discovered queen in 2018 and I thank God for giving me the chance to listen to basically the most gorgeous and stunning music of all time. I can't even listen to other music, bc I find it so boring, it doesn't give me the feelings that Queen music gives me. It's unbelievable.

That first "now"..so Freddie that it gives me goosebumps.
Recently he's been trying hard not to be so close to Freddie by doing different way of singing than how Fred did.
Many people found it hard to imitate Freddie, while he found it hard not to do so..
For Marc it's hard not to sound like Freddie, it's his voice. You can watch his video singing Pearl Jam and it's clearly not a natural sound to him. Marc sounds like a mix of Freddie Mercury and George Michael without trying.

The amazing Marc Martel everyone. You have no idea how lucky you are New Zealand. I have seen Marc and the Ultimate Queen Celebration in May in Vancouver, and Queen with Adam Lambert in July, also in Vancouver. We far preferred Marc as the front man (sorry Adam) and were astounded at the likeness of singing voice to Fred. To us, Queen is not complete without Freddie's voice, which is why any chance to see and hear Marc is a must. Enjoy!!!

It’s in situations like this that you can appreciate what a genius Freddie Mercury was to the world. His and Queen’s music will never die, simply because most of their songs have become music anthems around the world, Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Somebody to love, Don’t stop me now, I want to break free, Love of my life, We will rock you, Who wants to live forever, Killer Queen, You’re my best friend, to name a few, all instantly recognisable classics. How many other rock groups can boast of so many classic numbers?

Queen Celebration Live - You say, "Rami sings a little bit in the film..." Err, no. That's already been contradicted. First, his "movement coach" let it slip that Rami sang into a dead microphone just so the audience could see his neck muscles moving, so it wouldn't appear he was just mouthing the words. Then, the Production Sound Mixer (John Casali), Re-recording Mixer (Paul Massey), and Supervising Sound Editor (John Warhurst) from the film were all quoted as saying pretty much the same thing.
The Real O'Donovan Not my words, Graham King's, the producer. I guess you can count reading lyrics to "Another One Bites The Dust" as singing.

They wanted a show, not a sound-a-like. Marc has great stage presence, but he's very casual in his dress. Not quite as extravagant and glittery.
@UCIrqMH7Jk3j36ZP3xnljVXw I don't think that Adam has Freddie's stage presence either. But "flashy", yes, that works too to describe what he brings for the QAL shows.
And if the QAL shows aren't also a "tribute" to the music they made with Freddie, what ARE they doing? I don't think that sounding similar to the "classic" or studio recorded sound makes them a tribute band, it would just be another characteristic to their show that they could use to their advantage (take Journey, for example). It's just a personal choice that BM and RT made to step away from trying to replicate that sound but continue to perform their Greatest Hits live.
Lambert has a bigger fan base, so that's why I think he is touring with Queen. Can't stand him either, so I paid to watch Marc live instead and it was amazing.
