    I have some ancestors in that cemetery. I enjoy keeping my eyes peeled to see if I can see any of their gravestones. Nice mausoleums. That looks like a family of groundhogs.

    I clean up old grave stones at a small area cemetery. The headstone at 10:00 is the kind I clean up. I pull the overgrown grass from the base.

    The McMillen mausoleum was really pretty. The earlier mausoleum you just recently put up with the chapel and sitting room was so elaborate also. If we could afford to do that, I would for my family too. I love how private, and comfortable it appeared. Those willow trees and pond were so beautiful. Cemeteries like this are so neat. We don't have any like this in our area. I would love to see some from England or Ireland some day.

    Just to let you know, that Kilbourn-I use to live on a street named Kilborn on the southwest side of Chicago by Midway Airport. That's where I was born and raised.

    This was a fun video to watch. Lots of pretty and interesting stuff. You were right about a columbarium being for ash remains.

    Hi there! Great visit! Thankyou! Incidentally the pond water has a blue special dye put in to prevent the sunshine reaching pond weeds encouraging growth. I use it on my pond here in the U.K. 🙋‍♀️👏🏻👏🏻

      Without aeration, and electricity those ponds can get algae up with Duck Weed, etc.

    Great and interesting tour, historic and informative, beautiful mausoleums and groundhog Burroughs added a fun touch, the rascals can really mess up a barn with their digging. They loved my barn. Thanks again for the tour and looking forward to the next one. Have a good Sunday. 😎🌻🌹😊

    I like the little stairs going up only 4 or 5 feet, obviously for older people who can't balance properly going up slopes.

  • @billl1127
    @billl1127 2 роки тому

    If you look at the whole surrounding area at 17:00 facing out from the grotto it appears to be a huge basin. Perhaps at one time that was another small lake or pond that they converted to open area.

    • @gregdowle8031
      @gregdowle8031 2 роки тому

      I thought of that as well. It does look very deliberate, as though the slopes performed some kind of actual purpose.

    • @billl1127
      @billl1127 2 роки тому

      @@gregdowle8031 That might explain those stairways that don't really go anywhere. Perhaps those brought you to the waters edge.

    That first mausoleum was very art deco. Yes, a columbarium is for cremated remains, Looks like the Groundhogs have moved in. That one strange area looks like a mount for a multi flag pole.

    Please be careful when you see holes around the stones, my daughter and I came across yellow jacket nests that were boring in the ground. When they come out they attack. They look like a tiny hole in the ground and they are in cemeteries.

    Such a young man like you to lose your breath just walking around sad. Can hear so much heavy breathing just taking a leisurely walk in a cemetery,, wow,, you a smoker? Sounds like you ran a marathon or something....
