I've wanted this knife for so long ....One of these days I'll get one , honestly considering the steel and quality control its worth it.
I have an Ontario SK 5 Black bird , its a spear tip kephart style knife with g10 and dang its nice. EBay has a couple for only $89 I highly recommend it cause the ones I see on eBay are the old ones with green gray micarta very rare now. I have the G10 that I also got on amazon for $89 on sale but it normally runs around $120 .

I enjoyed your video. I have one of these knives and really like it, but the sheath is not that good. I was always afraid I would lose this knife, because the sheath is to flimsy. So, I put the knife into my Condor knife sheath and Wala. Perfect fit after I wetted the leather and formed it around the handle.

Great reveiw man! I appreciate the fact that although you love this knife, youre able to still point out its flaws through an honest opinion. I love this knife as well!
Having said that, I want to ask. How has your sheath held up? I noticed that when I sheath mine with out looking or paying attention, that its fairly easy to slice into the buttery soft leather at different angles. I cringe for every time ive done it, and it almost makes me want to replace it and start anew... heh

The strap is still doing good but I do believe it could be designed better. If you're not careful you will cut it off. Also, the buckle comes off way to easily and a few times I've reached for the handle and almost grabbed the edge of the blade. Im lucky to have not sliced my fingers on at least two occasions. But man! That buttery smooth leather just feels so good!! I dont have the heart to upgrade it. Thanks for watching!

I bedded some epoxy on the inside of the sheath to protect the leather from the blade edge. Never had any damage. Someone made a couple holes near the strap button and threaded some elastic cord running from the snap to the back of the sheath. It causes the strap to fly outward, away from the knife as soon as it’s unsnapped. Could solve your worry. It is in this video near the end: ua-cam.com/video/D5GVRA8bURA/v-deo.html

Now that you have more experience with the knife, what do you think of it? Is the primary grind sufficiently thin behind the edge? Oftentimes production knives are ground too thick in the primary grind.

Thanks for watching and for the questions. I love the knife and use it every time I go camping and fishing. As far as the grind being sufficiently thin, ill be honest, I'm no expert in grinds and can't give you an expert opinion on it other than to say the knife is still incredibly sharp despite all the hard use I've put it through.

57 or 75 points. You never told us where it fell short, really. 57 seems like a mediocre score and doesn’t go with your use of “really great”, which you used many times.

I thought a long time about this comment before I decided to reply and I can honestly say that you make a good point. My system is weighted towards premium material and no matter how much I like the knife, the steel will keep it from receiving a high score. To keep things in perspective though, the Bushcrafter is still my highest rated knife in my collection so I hope that goes towards showing how awesome I think this knife is. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
