This was and still is a proud moment for Detroit, Coach Bob Dozier and the rest of David Mackenzie High School. Feels real good to see one of your own in the HOF.
For several decades I passed up going to Canton to see so many Steelers inducted into the HOF but had to be there for this one. Congratulations Jerome!
As Alan Faneca said in the 4th qtr of the Super Bowl with a Steelers lead, “RIDE THE BUS, RIDE EM!” Keep on riding bro! Thanks for all you did for Steeler nation!
Amazing comment, because I can tell ya I've met several professional athletes, either in passing, at events, etc, and 99% of them come across as a bit arrogant and bigoted. But NO ONE has come across as so humble, down to earth and relatable as Jerome Bettis. Truly is an all-round good guy
Jerome Bettis, a class act. He uses his own moment to talk to JrSeaus kids and tell them how great of a man their father was. That proves it right there.
Denver Bronco fans - mostly the fans that think TD should be in the Hall of Fame. TD had great O-line and a Hall of Famer at quarterback., HOFer TE. Minus John Elway - TD stats are average.
Jerome you R a big man in my book, and not because you a R football star, but big as a person, you made your whole beautiful family cry and I cried along with them, G-D bless you and your family, and I do hope your M om will get well as G-D take care of G-D's people. PS glad to hear that your trip to ISR. was a good one, we need more people like you you in this world.
From North Versailles, Pa. Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go! Seeing those towels and hearing the chant brought me chills. Man I know I'm getting old when I vividly remember him being traded here on draft day to now being inducted into the hall. Time is going too damn fast.
I'm glad he finally got in, but the class of 2011 was strong. Marshall Faulk, Deion Sanders, and Jerome Bettis first timers and then throw in Shannon Sharpe.
Charles allen jr Yea you right that was an amazing class as well. But for that dude to be that great. That big and durable...To rush for that many Yard's and Td's. I'm just Lil pissed he didn't go in first ballot. But He's in and I couldn't be more proud or happier for a better person!
Present and future Steelers take note Of what class and character is dll about Thank you you Bus You Are what the Steeler Organization represents Class
+plymouthgtx1973 He was going to get in eventually. There were some great classes that delayed him getting in. Being 6th all time in rushing, he deserved it. Not everybody is first ballot.
That should tell you how strong the 2011 HOF Class really was. First timers: Marshall Faulk, Jerome Bettis, Deion Sanders, and then throw in Shannon Sharpe (2nd or 3rd try) Look at the other players that didn't get in on the first try. They eventually got in.
He was never used as the guy that got down the field. He was the guy that steamrolled everyone else down as he was going for the endzone. His stats in rushing may seem low but look at his TD's. He played as the backup running back and he almost never fumbled. He had so much class and was so consistent. He was a powerback. Not a running back.
+plymouthgtx1973 He was 6th all time in rushing. He was a power back. Guys like that don't have a high yards per carry average. Guys like that also take a lot of punishment in their running style. He did it for 13 seasons. He deserves to be in.
How can he be in HOF - for crying out loud he was beaten out for starting job in 2002 by Amos Zereoue! and again in 2004 by Duce Staley! I remember Bettis running his mouth before the AFC 2004 and then getting absolutely tattooed by the Patriots in 2004 AFC championship game at home - he was totally outplayed by Corey Dillon. Then fumbles against the Colts in 2006 at a critical point in game. IMO he was pretty good player but HOF material - just don't see it.
Right because his career started in 2002...I love how you pick a handful of times when he made a few mistakes (EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES) and say that's the reason he doesn't belong in the HOF...forget the fact that he's 6th all time in rushing yards when most of those yards came between the tackles
If that's all you can remember - then perhaps that's why you think he's overrated. That's a lot of five yard runs to get to the 6th all time on the rushing list. Your self-imposed moniker is very telling.
Agreed, if he didn't play for the Steelers and had same stats he wouldn't make the HOF. When you think HOF RB's you think OJ, Gayle Sayers, Barry Sanders. Eric Dickerson, not this guy.
we? who is we? you maybe think that, because youre an idiot...or just cant accept anyone from the newer class being in the hall of fame...why would the steelers magically make him better? he didnt always get the best blocking many of those years...
I love how Chris Berman when he was working NFL primetime how he would make the sound of a piston when Bettie was battling for extra yards or punching in for a touchdown
I was going to press the like button on your comment but I chose to comment instead because 36 needs to stay right there! #BusWillForeverRunInCantonOhio
Great speech by a great running back and greater man! Jerome "The Bus" Bettis you deserved this honor for the years you kicked total butt in the Black & Gold! #STEELCITY
Andrea Khuriel Ben doesn't make that tackle, colts win the game, steelers don't win 40, Jerome doesn't get a ring, I don't know not sure he'd of made it
I was there for that. I told my folks and friends that I would not go visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton until Jerome got inducted and was there to hear his speech live
I also vowed never to visit until The Bus made it in, and the minute he was confirmed, the plans were made. It was the best (and worst) experience, because the logistics for the weekend there sucked, but seeing The Bus finally achieve this long overdue accomplishment was worth it.
I actually have a Jerome Bettis jersey my little sister bought for me a million years ago. I'm no Steelers fan, and she probably just picked out a jersey that's cool looking! But Jerome Bettis really was one of my favorite players growing up!
Westside Detroit OG JB...he ran over my cousin who was playing DB ; when they played Henry Ford in '88 it still all good!! one love BUS! Trojans still won doe! .. lol
I met The Bus when I was 10yrs old,he came to Aliquippa High School which is still to this day the most dominant high schools in football in Pennsylvania. I got the blessed opportunity to meet him and I told him "Mr. Bettis I want to be a football player like you when I get bigger" he got on a knee looked me in my eyes and said "big guy you're gonna be a better football player than me". Thanks to Mr. Bettis albeit due to injuries in high school I never got the chance to make it pro I had the drive, determination, and dedication to be the best player I could possibly be on and off the field. Congrats Mr. Bettis this kids life you touched and changed. Congratulations you deserve it.
Just a few moments of camera on his mother, Gladys. Her face communicated everything. Without knowing her, can tell that she is an amazing woman and great mother.
It's similar to a church where people sing and clap. But Bettis' had a wonderful speech to his people and his former teammates. The Steelers still remember his time with them when they signed him
John 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
Watching Netflix Icons. Eagles fan here. Jerome Bettis is pure class. A genuine good man and great football player. I'd have him on any Eagles team any time.
This was and still is a proud moment for Detroit, Coach Bob Dozier and the rest of David Mackenzie High School. Feels real good to see one of your own in the HOF.
What a day, what a speech and what a man. I'm proud to be a Jerome Bettis and a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Congratulations, Bus.
Proud to be a steeler. Congrats jerome
For several decades I passed up going to Canton to see so many Steelers inducted into the HOF but had to be there for this one. Congratulations Jerome!
... How old are you
Stan Marsh wow way to ruin the moment
One of a kind player. 6th all time leading rusher and the elite big back in the NFL history.
Great Speech. Jerome Bettis one of my favorites growing up.

This really was my favorite speech of the night and the Juniors family 2, congrats on all the hall of famers in their induction.
As Alan Faneca said in the 4th qtr of the Super Bowl with a Steelers lead, “RIDE THE BUS, RIDE EM!” Keep on riding bro! Thanks for all you did for Steeler nation!
not a steeler fan but damn, i respect this guy,...
Must be such a proud moment for every player who gets to experience this, all the hard work in your career for this moment
How amazing for his kids to see how much their Dad is loved and respected. Steeler Nation will always have the Bus running!!!
Jerome Bettis, a class act. He uses his own moment to talk to JrSeaus kids and tell them how great of a man their father was. That proves it right there.
Yes, that was special
Who the hell dislikes this. The bus is one of the all time class acts..
Dislikes? Ravens fans....fkn lames 🎁

Denver Bronco fans - mostly the fans that think TD should be in the Hall of Fame. TD had great O-line and a Hall of Famer at quarterback., HOFer TE. Minus John Elway - TD stats are average.

Congrats Jerome, well deserved.
Such a beautiful family!! Much respect to Bettis!

Great speech, I was glad too see that Jerome represented Detroit, Michigan well!!!!
great running back congrats on hall of fame great speech!
Man what a speech!!!!
"When I grow up, I want to be like Jerome Bettis" -Me when I was 14
Great Speech...I'm still pissed he should have went first ballot!
I'm glad he finally got in, but the class of 2011 was strong. Marshall Faulk, Deion Sanders, and Jerome Bettis first timers and then throw in Shannon Sharpe.

True class!! Congrats Bus

Proud of you, Bus. WE ARE ND!
Great speech!!
Fantastic!
Bettis was a real beast, and was the first.
What a Steeler looks like
Present and future Steelers take note Of what class and character is dll about Thank you you Bus You Are what the Steeler Organization represents Class

What part is it when he says "The Bus is stopping in Canton Ohio!"
GOAT
congrats to the 🚌 bus
but in my opinion..he was supposed to be in the hall of fame in 2011...first ballot for sure👍👍
Determination : Running over Brian Urlacher in the snow to help punch the Steelers ticket into the playoffs as the first 6th seed to win it all.
Who's cutting the onions
find that ahole! lol
The Bus ride has come to stop.
STEELERNATION

This is a Man's Game
Why? He couldn't break a tackle. I hope he wrote a thank you note to Mike Vanderjagt.
Bettis> any ravens RB ever
The bus
that fake hair product is killing this video

It took Bettis 5 tries to get into HOF - real borderline.
+plymouthgtx1973 He was going to get in eventually. There were some great classes that delayed him getting in. Being 6th all time in rushing, he deserved it. Not everybody is first ballot.

Jerome Bettis - really??!! Career average 3.9 yards per carry - average. Post season even worse 3.4 yards per carry. Talk about lowering the bar...
He was never used as the guy that got down the field. He was the guy that steamrolled everyone else down as he was going for the endzone. His stats in rushing may seem low but look at his TD's. He played as the backup running back and he almost never fumbled. He had so much class and was so consistent. He was a powerback. Not a running back.
plymouthgtx1973 He has the 6th most career rushing yards
You're a fucking moron.
Its not all about how good you play... Its about class act and respect. Maybe you should learn a few things before you open your mouth...
+plymouthgtx1973 He was 6th all time in rushing. He was a power back. Guys like that don't have a high yards per carry average. Guys like that also take a lot of punishment in their running style. He did it for 13 seasons. He deserves to be in.

You sir are an idiot #HereWeGo
you are a dumb ass stats prove he deserves to be in the hall.
+Franco Fernando Bettis was a choker, he got in because he was a Steeler, outside of Pittsburgh nobody thinks of him as HOF player.
+getyoasshome Shut up Yinzer.
This guy is overrated all I remember of his taking the ball from the 5yd line every time
If that's all you can remember - then perhaps that's why you think he's overrated. That's a lot of five yard runs to get to the 6th all time on the rushing list.

+Dave L Who's we sucka?
wackedout13 you didn't watch much then lol. he has 13,663 rushing yards... if he only ran from the 5 yard line, that is even more impressive :D
its the steelers preseason game a bit away! Pitt > Minnesota :)
Bettis was a tank.
I love how Chris Berman when he was working NFL primetime how he would make the sound of a piston when Bettie was battling for extra yards or punching in for a touchdown

Love the Bus!!!!!! One of the best HOF speeches ever!
I love some of these speeches, and Jerome's speech was one of the best 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿.
And, by the way, his wife is fly💝! And, I love his mentioning of his daughter and his son😁💘💯💯.
I was 3 years old when this man joined the Steelers. No other running back has shown as much grit. He really was someone to look up to back then
Great speech by a great running back and greater man! Jerome "The Bus" Bettis you deserved this honor for the years you kicked total butt in the Black & Gold!
#STEELCITY
Big Ben's clutch tackle was the event that created the universe as we know it.
He was going to be in the HoF regardless of that!
Andrea Khuriel Ben doesn't make that tackle, colts win the game, steelers don't win 40, Jerome doesn't get a ring, I don't know not sure he'd of made it
Here we go Steelers here we go #steelersnation

I love Jerome Bettis, he has such a positive personality
Great day for #36 STEELERNATION 6X SB CHAMPS!!!!
What a punishing running game Pittsburgh had when Bettis was there. Great offensive lines and fullbacks like Tim Lester, Dan Kreider and Jon Whitman.
Bruce Dunkle smashmouth football baby!
Dan krieder was an animal
I love Bettis. More than a footballer, as a human being, as a family man. What a role model.
Lmao he really is Jerome jr
Congratulations, you deserve it!
And Cowboys fans still call themselves America's team?? 😂
Thank God I have his jersey.
It's the only official NFL jersey I ever bought.
WOW WHAT MORE CAN YOU SAY ??? 😆
True Steeler. All heart
Some people call Jerome Bettis, The Battering Ram, and The Bus. I call Jerome Bettis The Bengal Killer.
Gone Ballistik well to be fair that can be true for 99% of players
FIRST VIEWER
Jerome Bettis. Won a Super Bowl the year he had 5 carries for 4 yards, and three touchdowns in a game. THE BUS!
I actually have a Jerome Bettis jersey my little sister bought for me a million years ago. I'm no Steelers fan, and she probably just picked out a jersey that's cool looking! But Jerome Bettis really was one of my favorite players growing up!

The dislikes are raven's and Seahawk fans.
And Bengals fans lol
And Bangles
I always thought Bettis looked like the late great R and B singer Gerald LeVert, both the best to do it in their respective professions.
he said tails
Just a few moments of camera on his mother, Gladys. Her face communicated everything. Without knowing her, can tell that she is an amazing woman and great mother.
