You can use a screwdriver, flip the door latch and make that chime go off. Just REMEMBER to "open" the door again before trying to close it to open that latch back up!!!
you got it! The transmission diagnostic was very helpful for me on my H1. I was seeing various solenoid errors, replaced the solenoids and still saw errors. My problem ended up being the TCM itself, new TCM ordered and programed and that fixed all my shifting issues.
I've been happy with it so far. Just like Techstream is super helpful if you own a Toyota/Lexus, I think the Tech2 is just as important if you have a GM vehicle of this era.
Hello people! I need your help. My car is a GM-Opel ASTRA F 1993 model. It has the old GM proprietary ALDL-OBD1 connector therefore it requires the old tech1 scanner. The one with the cartridges etc. People are charging 1000€ on ebay for these things used. It is outrageous. And sometimes it's a scam. Is tech2 backwards compatible with tech1? Can the tech2 scanner read the fault codes and live sensor data of an ecu based on tech1 protocol? How much does a reversed engineered chinese copy of this scanner cost ?
@@PadDin95Channel Cool car! I had the American version, a 2008 Saturn ASTRA (H) that I loved dearly! To answer your question though, unfortunately no. I'm pretty certain that you cannot use a tech2 scanner on a tech1 car. Because your ASTRA only has the readings and capabilities of a OBD1. Being a GM car though, you can read codes via a paperclip by jumping pins in the ALDL connector or try and find an OBD1 scanner that isn't from GM.
That's a good question. I assume it does? It did everything else I threw at it. I since sold the Hummer H1 and gave the new owner the Tech2 scanner with the purchase of the H1. So I don't have it anymore to test those functions.
I bought mine in 2017 and I can’t find the Candi so I need to order it! I also don’t have the power adapter anymore! Is that something that is required because I don’t remember ever using it.
You can buy those pieces individually on eBay or aliexpress I think. On my H1 it didn’t seem to like running the scanner without the power plugged in. But it might work on other vehicles without the power.
@@weezynandez JUst a thought ..I got a knock off, and it runs on my escalade without the cig adapter.. I thought i was doing something wrong, and it occurs to me NOW, that the tech 2 will reset upon starting the car without the adapter plugged in....and if you have a cig lighter adapter plugged in..power at all times, "perhaps" (i have not tried it) it will not reset...by reset, i mean, have to tell it what car we are doing diagnostics...not a big deal..but maybe that's why the cig adapater is there. This makes sense, because the tech 2 does not turn on until the key is in the ON position...and again, I have not tried to see if it comes on with the adapter...so...This post has beeen helpful in that it caused me to think of something I hadnt thought of before. :) Thank you
@sirlancair that is a really good point. Mine actually came with another adapter in addition to the cig power adapter too. The other adapter plugs into the same spot on the Tech2 as the cig adapter, but in the other end it has 2 battery clamps so that you can hook it straight to a car battery.
Gear ratio is determined by your mechanical gearing in the transmission and differentials. Tech2 is just displaying it. You can change gears with the Tech2 for testing though

Great point!
I have one. I need to dig into it .... sounds like it does a lot more than I've ever used it for.
Definitely does a lot.
Thanks for posting this! You answered my question if it will do anything with the transmission diagnostics. I have one ordered, fingers crossed 🤞🏻👍🏻

Cool tool, the idle sounds great and steady, if you are speaking inside the vehicle the sound absorption material has made a big difference.

I have one and it's Worth every cent. 👍🏻
Absolutely agree!

Thanks! I didn't know you had to have the loop plug in on the side? I'm going to give it a try
I don’t know if it is 100% required or not. But I have left it plugged in and it seems to work fine
Will it test the abs sensors, and test and run the hvac actuators?
I think it depends on the vehicle. On some vehicles the ABS system has its own separate computer, and on some it is accessible through the Tech2
I have a few older gm vehicles. 2001 & 2002 Tahoe's, and a 2004 S10 Blazer ZR2.
Does it have a crank relearn and break bleed function? Thanks

Can it do relearns and delete settings like o2 sensors and tpms??
Yes. It should be able to do everything the normal tech2 does

@@NKPGarage ok I appreciate it!

Can you bleed/cycle the abs to bleed the brakes with the tech2?
Yes. There are some on Ebay for around $420
Yes I think so
Can you reset a bcm with this??
Yup. I was able to
Trouble getting it to program anything? Keeps saying check Candi connection, but it working? Maybe the plug will do it?
What year/model is your truck/vehicle? Are you sure you’re selecting the correct year and model on the scanner? Does it scan and read codes?
Does the vehicle have to be running? I'm having trouble getting the thing
On mine it will connect both running and not running. Are you sure you have good power to the scanner?
Yes. I'm going to try again tonight. Thanks
Are you able to change the selected gear ratio through the tech2?
Gear ratio is determined by your mechanical gearing in the transmission and differentials. Tech2 is just displaying it. You can change gears with the Tech2 for testing though
@NKP Garage I was just wondering if you change your diff ratio, can you set the new ratio on the tech2.
Oh I see. That’s a good question. To be honest I am not sure. I would assume that is programmed into the ECM/ECU. But I’m not sure
Oh. I see what you mean. I am not sure. But that would definitely make sense.
You did not show how to do a crankshaft relearn procedure with it. That is the reason most of us would need this tool.
I didn’t use it for that personally. But my mechanic did and he mentioned that it worked
Which seller is reliable?
From what I have heard from friends they are all about the same
ebcm? transfer case ?
Yup. Supports all of the OEM functions
Hey man.. I’m the one that had the black wagon w 40’s @ Ian’s .. is there a email/number so can reached you at ??.. thx!!
