Why do you use a dark color yarn TK teach such a complicated stitch?

It was the yarn I used for the top. I suggest turning the brightness of your device to max brightness to better see:)

Is the back loop way on the other side or is it the back loop of the v like you would with basic back loop ribbing. Please help 😊
