    Not sure why this works, but as a crocheter who has tried many times to knit (all unsuccessfully), this just clicked! It looks kinda wonky, but I've got ten rows already, and it's really starting to look like knitting, LOL. Thank you for making this so easy!!!!

      Yes same here! I've tried to learn knitting many times, but then I learned crocheting instead. Now when I've crocheted for a few years it just clicked like you said!

    I've been struggling!! struggling with knitting ever since i bought a pack of knitting needles last year and decided to put knitting off and focus on something im good at already which is crochet. I think the reason why this tutorial just clicked is because you explained the steps the way a crocheter would?? does that make sense lol. Thank you for this youre a life saver!! Kudos to you Xx

    For those who are already comfortable with crochet and used to tensioning the yarn in your left hand, you may want to give continental style knitting a try. The style demonstrated here is English style knitting, which I did for the first 28 years of my knitting life. But the benefit of learning continental style, especially for someone who is used to the yarn being held on the left hand side, is that it is quicker than knitting in the English style.

    • @modern_made

    is it easier to knit with straight needles or with circular needles as a beginner?

    • @modern_made
      @modern_made  2 дні тому

      Just preference. Circular is only needed when knitting something large but I like that you can’t lose one needle (which is something that would happen to me a lot).

  • @hintergrundmusik8835
    @hintergrundmusik8835 3 місяці тому +1

    thanks for the video! could you hold the working yarn like you hold it (wrapped around your left index finger) and go with the right needle behind the yarn and pull it trough? because its not really a smooth process when you stop, place the right needle in your left hand just to get the yarn over the needle - crocheting is such a smooth movement and i thought the same goes for knitting
    i tried it as i described it and it seems like the pattern is the same but all tutorials use your techniq so i am confused xD

    • @modern_made
      @modern_made  3 місяці тому +2

      Absolutely! Thats a common technique but a lot of people struggle with not dropping their stitches. If it works for you all the more power to you!

    I just can’t understand how you keep the knit onto the stitches without slipping off the needle? No hooks! Also casting on confounds me and if I make a mistake I’m lost! I also knit way too tight! But I like the fabric it makes so I will try

  • @jessicapearson9479
    @jessicapearson9479 20 днів тому

    You should have pointed out that this is for left handed people! As normally when when knitting you hold the needle with all the stitches in your right hand and work them onto the needle in the left!!

    • @modern_made
      @modern_made  20 днів тому

      Tension being super tight is so common with beginners for both crochet and knitting! Try a larger needle size and know that practice makes perfect
