I think it's truly incredible how every single stage in this game is unique. unique assets, music, level design, gameplay mechanics ... it sets the bar impossibly high for other 2d platformers.
***** Kenji Yamamoto is credited as "Supervisor" because he was the supervisor for his Nintendo team of composers at Nintendo SPD. I don't think he was "supervising" David Wise. From what I understand from David Wise's interview, the two worked together, but Yamamoto had his own composition team working with him as well. But… it does seem like David Wise really did most of the work. I don't think Yamamoto was "telling Wise what to do." That wouldn't make much sense. Yamamoto can't really "boss" David Wise around, considering Wise wrote most of the the original music Yamamoto and his team kept reusing for DKC Returns. If there's anybody who's "bossing" Wise around, it's either the Audio Supervisor (maybe) Scott Peterson, or the Director/Producer of the game.
Now, any other person would associate this level with really frantic and demonic music. But what Mr. Wise did here was clever. Instead of focusing on the fire itself, the music catches the feeling of grief and sadness, seeing what was once such a lively atmosphere now burnt to shambles.
For me it's especially the section when you jump on the branches and the entire trees fall down into the flames. They aren't just burning, they're being destroyed along with the entire Savannah.
I had heard that David Wise was going for a more lighthearted soundtrack for this game. Don't get me wrong, the tracks before this one are amazing, but I still was kinda hoping for something with a darker, DKC2 feel, and thought that it just wasn't going to happen. Then I heard this.
That's the great thing about this soundtrack. Worlds 1 and 2 have largely upbeat and catchy music, things get a little mixed between atmospheric and upbeat in Worlds 3 and 4, and then World 6 just hits you over the head with an entire plethora of amazing emotional pieces that sound almost lonely, but have a trace of hope strewn throughout them. It's probably one of the most terrifically balanced soundtracks I've ever heard.
Most people judged this soundtrack when they saw the Dixie Kong trailer and heard the music from that one trailer. Problem is… that trailer had music FROM THE FIRST LEVEL OF THE GAME. As it happens, that first level also happens to take place on a nice colorful, tropical beach. So… it's going to have nice colorful, tropical music!
I don't know... I got a major DKC2 vibe from some songs before this one, namely Alpine Incline (Ground). That song sounds like it came straight out of DKC2. Totally agree with you though that this song is dark, moody, and dramatic. The whole soundtrack is a masterpiece, and I noticed the tracks after this one continue that darker, atmospheric tone.
This song made me feel sadness for the actual environment itself, where all the previous levels have a festive and welcoming vibe, but this one shows a catastrophe and the music let's you know that it's not fun and games anymore. I love tropical freeze in that it requires no dialog to tell you the story, but in what you're up against with every level.
Its interesting how some of the worlds in this game tell a subtle, coherent story. Especially bright savannah and juicy jungle. Bright savannah starts you out in a festive, cheerful level. Throughout the world you see that once happy and thriving savannah ravaged by a tornado and eventually demolished in a forest fire.
Storytelling is not easy to begin with. Nowadays we can see good screenwriters deliver mediocre or hard-to-understand stories with tons of lines. But tell a story without a single line is something very, VERY few people can do. And the game designers of Tropical Freeze were able to do it wonderfully, alongside David Wise and the sound designers. This, mates, is a true masterpiece.
***** He stated he had some personal issues to sort out. He had JUST left Rare when they asked him to do Returns. He had the ability to, but he decided not to. But they called him up again to do another Donkey Kong game, so he decided to do this one. Surely he'd never say no to doing a major game soundtrack like this. Last time he wrote a full soundtrack for a major console title was… Star Fox Adventures, back when Rare was still with Nintendo.
I think Scorch 'N' Torch exists because of Frantic Fields. Think about it. A: In level 3-3 there were lightning volts, and grass was everywhere. B: The lightning struck the wooden platforms, which was carried by dust devils! When A and B happens it could explain 3-4.
Similar stuff happen in world 5 as well, where the snomads were picking fruits, making juice, making jelly, and then freezing it to ice cream. It's really cool
To be fair, it gives a great motive to kick the villain's ass. He's trying to FREEZE the beautiful land that DK and friends call home. Say no more, let's flipping get him.

Picture this level being translated into a stage for the next Smash. Seriously, just think about it for a second. An arena surrounded by plains, dry and thick with smoke and flames. A lone, large tree looming in the centre, its burnt branches and foliage serving as temporary refuge until the weight of the players causes them to crumble into ash. Fire breaking out on the ground, with scant sacks of water your only hope of extinguishing them. And, in the background, this beautiful and barren piece of music.
Alfonso ST I honestly think nearly any stage from this game could make a good backdrop, but I stand by this one. Or maybe Alpine Incline, because you could do so much with the balloons. Fruit Factory (or the Jungle world in general) could provide a ton of ideas because of all the blades, trampolines, pulleys and mechanical hands. You could use Wing Ding as a motif and have a larger stage with a couple of areas connected by zip lines. Homecoming Hijinks would be fantastic, too - ice stages instantly present some neat challenges - and you could do some really cool things with having a snowstorm descend on the level and turning it into a silhouette level a la Cliffside Slide. If only someone from Nintendo were reading this.
seeyoshirun "and you could do some really cool things with having a snowstorm descend on the level and turning it into a silhouette level a la Cliffside Slide" you made that pun on purpose.
This song really exemplifies the turning point of the game; as you enter the latter half, the music becomes more emotional, and the levels become harder. Interestingly enough, it seems as though the music of the first half of the game is a bit more underrated than that latter half, which is kinda like how DKC3 compares to DKC1 and DKC2. Note that the first half's music takes most of its inspiration from DKC3.
Yup. Swinger Flinger, Bopopolis, Big Top Bop, Mangrove Cove, Wing Ding and Mountain Mania are amazing music tracks and are all in the first half of the game.
I remember when I first heard this song and saw the level I was playing with my brother, and said aloud "Africa has enough problems without being set on fire!" I love how every level has its own frantic and different feel to it, and yet also forms a narrative.
At 1:33 it sounds like "Let me live." What I imagine is the Savannah itself crying for help. It gives me chills to think about it but I also love the depth in it.
Actually many trees need fire for reproduction. Savanna, taiga/boreal forest and other environments like redwood and eucalypt forests just THRIVE thanks to fire (not too much of course).
This song is so beautifully catchy that it should be illegalised. The "chorus" has stuck with me for well over a week since I last heard it, and the general beat perfectly epitomizes your surroundings and the "fire" aspect to the level, far better than most lava levels I've seen. The best part about this song? It's meant to represent a bleak, desolated savanna, ruined beyond natural repair and nigh-on uninhabitable for all but the most masochistic of creatures, and it fulfills that role immaculately. Yet it's still composed in such a way that once you hear it, you simply can't get it out of your head. ... David Wise is a fucking genius. I wasn't TOO hot on the DKC soundtracks before, but this theme managed to convert me in one fell swoop.
David Wise is brilliant! Mountain Mania, Big Top Bop, Bopopolis, Snakey Chantey, Lost World, Crocodile Cacophony, Gang-Plank Galleon, Fear Factory... MAN the music he does is so memorable!!!
Super Mario 3D World has 75% happy music, no one bats an eye. Tropical Freeze has ~20% happy music, everyone loses their minds (and the OST is clown music).
In that defense, Super Mario 3D World is… you know, a Mario game. Mario games are known for those kinds of soundtracks. That particular one was praised because it was a HUGE step up from the New Super Mario Bros. 2 and U games… which had incredibly bland soundtracks, and many of the tunes were just reused from prior entries! 3D World re-used a couple tunes, and it remastered a few others, but the majority consisted of new, original tunes created by Nintendo's top composers (even Koji Kondo got involved a bit) with live big band music. With Mario, this kind of music is expected. Mario's all about colorful environments and happy-go-lucky, rhythmic music to go along with all the jumping, which is really the main mechanic.
***** Ah, not knocking on 3D World or anything; I actually really like that game and its soundtrack. I guess when you remove it from Shoehorned-Into-A-Meme context, what I was trying to accomplish with that post were 2 things: 1) Why is it suddenly called "clown music" and not just "happy videogame music"? 3D World generally had clownier music than TF, and it was called happy video game music, but when TF has a little bit of the same thing, it's suddenly universally called clown music. . . . I guess I'm just letting the wording bug me on that one. 2) But more importantly, only a little bit of the music was actually like that, and people are acting like happy music was 90% of the soundtrack. Come on,[ haters,] the "clown music" is almost completely gone from the soundtrack by world 3 (or even a lot of world 2). The game still has plenty of classic David Wise goodness to it.
I agree with both of you, but my problem is that people usually think that "happy music" means "bad music". Also, in my opinion, Donkey Kong always get wonderful soundtracks, while Mario soundtracks are often so-so, probably because of the overload of games. I love both series and kinds of music.
Koops520 Well, which Mario soundtracks are you referring to? If you're talking about games such as Mario Kart (prior to the Wii U game), Mario Party, Mario Strikers, or any spinoff, or the New Super Mario Bros. games… yeah the music is just okay (though, NSMB on DS had decent music). But the *core* Mario franchise had some great music, especially when Koji Kondo was the lead and sole composer of the games up until Super Mario Sunshine (He wrote roughly half the Sunshine music, and most of it is the thematic material most remember). I mean, I wouldn't call Super Mario 64's soundtrack "so-so," as it has a wonderful water theme, an incredibly catchy, yet atmospheric underground theme remix, the intense and powerful Koopa's Road theme…none of these I would consider "happy." That brings me to another point, I *HATE* when people generalize music of a brighter mood as simply "happy." That's the worst description in the world when it comes to music. Surely there are other adjectives you could use to describe it. It isn't black and white, it isn't just happy, or sad/angry. There are *MANY* different emotions when it comes to music.
This game has such amazing music, simply epic, simply beautiful. What i LOVE about TF is that every single level has its own music. Can't say that about Returns.
Not every level does. Some disappointingly don't, including the last level before the final boss. DKCR also had 10 more stages, so while overall less stages had their own music, there were also more stages to put music in, so it's not as bad as one may first think. DKCR also had more niche tracks that played in small sections (i.e. not the most prominent tracks in any given level).
What I love about Tropical Freeze is that every world almost tells it's own story. Best example is the third world, where everyone is happy at savanna, but then stormy winds start to blow and finally this: no one is happy and the savanna is burning.
The soundtrack for this game is like an Oscar winning movie soundtrack but for a video game instead, what is shocking is that David Wise didn't get any attention by Nintendo and others for making such detailed and emotional songs, we fans are alone to appreciate his effort and that's sad tbh
When I first heard this song, it was a friend of mine playing the level. As he was playing I was watching, and listening...at 0:08 the music caught my attention like oh, this is a really good melody. By 0:41 I was way more into the music than watching my friend play. As the music progressed my eyes grew wider...I made a comment that this was some of the best video game music I'd ever heard (I've been gaming for over 20 years). My friend must have been too busy trying not to get burned...his reply to me was something along the lines of "is it?"...as if he hadn't even noticed the beautiful sound. Poor guy must have been delirious from all the excess heat.
Homecoming Hijinx, Big Top Bop, Busted Bayou, Scorch 'N' Torch, Windmill Hills... GOSH! How are people even able to choose a favorite track? This game has so many amazing ones it is impossible for me to pick one!
This is one of the reasons why I bought a Wii U. Just waiting for this game to get to the stores here where I live. I just can't wait! The level designs are beautiful, the soundtrack makes me feel like I'll be playing "DKC4" for the SNES! Thank you David Wise, I'm glad you worked on DK songs again!
no you fucking idiot you only get the first level theme from this game and the temple theme, which is another goddamn remix of jungle hyjinx leaving this game with less tracks represented in smash brothers than mario sports superstars why the fuck would you represent an amazing soundtrack like this, or add more than one track from majoras mask, or more than 2 tracks from the entirety of final fantasy, when you can add the mario tennis ultra smash main theme and jungle hyjinx version 89
The sound effects are just amazing! 0:05 Makes me feel the hot burning temperature. 0:25 The strings mimic the movement of flames. 0:58 The flute makes me see hot wavy air above the fire, like a mirage. David Wise is an absolute genius!
This goofy videogame about monkeys trying to save their bananas from an evil walrus happens to be, in my opinion, one of the greatest videogames of its genre ever made. Every single level has a completely distinct theme with its own music, background, assets, and mechanics. It breaks away from the tried and true 2d platformer level design process and expands upon it. A new kind of platformer that they miraculously got pretty much perfectly on the first try. The game is a blast to play, absolutely beautiful in the graphics department, and has the single best soundtrack I have ever heard from any videogame. You really wouldnt expect this music from a cartoony nintendo game to carry such powerful emotion. The facf that it didnt win best score in the 2014 game awards is a crime.
The whole soundtrack was much better than the remixes of the original Donkey Kong Country in Returns... despite Lockjaw's Saga Returns and Aquatic Ambiance Returns again... but this theme... MY GOD!!! This is a milestone of video game music composition! Sure we praise games like The Last of Us bringing emotions thanks to the soundtrack (and it was Hollywood-level soundtrack but that's the problem, it's gaming not Hollywood)... but the AMBIANCE!!! It sticks in the head, we remember the level throwing waterberries at fiery enemies and burning bushes... Except Windmill Hills, Forest Folly, Frozen Frenzy, Homecoming Hijinx and Alpine Incline (Ground), Scorch' N Torch is the best music from the soundtrack. This is David Wise at his best! This is the Fear Factory of DKC1, the Stickerbush Symphony of DKC2, the Cascade Capers of DKC3 (despite it was Eveline Fischer doing the SNES soundtrack but Wise on the GBA)... the very best ambiant music from the game.
What I love about this soundtrack is that it's nostalgic in a different way than DKCR was. DKCR directly remixed old DKC songs, which was great. Remixing was done to a lesser extent in DKCTF, too. However, the "brand new" songs in DKCTF still carry a lot of the same sentiments as the old songs. This song is a perfect example to me, because it definitely feels like a more intense version of Hot Top Bop from DKC2, yet it's a totally different song. Liek if u cry everr tim
Well thank god you have unimaginable skills to detect sound from pixels on a screen, and even further can guess someones mood without fail. Have fun being a worthless troll in life. Hell, when I was playing Halo..I met better trolls than you.
I always remember the great forest fire in Chile in 2017 when I hear this song, and the flute part makes me imagine a condor flying over the burning forest.
This level is one of the best this game has to offer in my opinions. It shows how good the theme mixing in the game is (Safari/fire is a pretty cool mix up), the music adds on to the level so much, and the visuals in this level are incredible. I would say this and maybe a few levels from the final world (not post game, but final story world) are the among the greatest examples of how fantastic this game is.
New 38-year-old one here playing Donkey Kong in 2k19 for the first time and also having a Nintendo Switch for the first time, too. This track really caught me! It’s sooooo intense! I am in love with this game!
I tear up in joy hearing this soundtrack from the bright Savannah I’m saving up my money to buy myself a Nintendo switch so I can play this game but I gotta say this song has like a sad meaning to the song it’s like the song is saying Wildfires are happening in Savanah please save us
Definitely a track that could potentially top stickerbrush symphony in heightening those emotions of solitude in an almost saddening way...hard to describe it but then again props to David Wise for being able to do that consistently.
After Donkey Kong celebrated the birth of Simba in Grassland Groove he came to a surprise that after two days the Groove of the Grasslands from the Bright Savannah turned into a burning, ash-filling, dancing-tree-killing battlefield. After reaching the end of the Grasslands, Donkey Kong looked back at the now burned and slowly dying trees, knowing that even though they had a great time in Grassland Groove, nature-disasters won't stop for that and will kill everything in its path.
I find that there's something very surreal and subliminal about this song. For me, just listening to it automatically gives me the impression like "Ok, something's horribly wrong. I need to get out of here NOW!" It's like this song triggers some kind of instinctive warning bells. It kind of gives me the feeling that I'm stuck inside a burning building and that I have get out of there as quickly as possible. Given that the level itself is about DK and his friends moving through burning plains and trying to escape and survive, That feeling I just described is probably just what the developers intended. So good job!
I think it's truly incredible how every single stage in this game is unique. unique assets, music, level design, gameplay mechanics ... it sets the bar impossibly high for other 2d platformers.

This is honestly my favorite track in the entire series.
+Karby64 Right?!? I mean, I've said that about other tracks, but when I hear this one it just blows me away.
Totally agree
Same
How can one man knock it out of the park so many, many times? This soundtrack is simply mindblowing, period.
At 1:33 it sounds like "Let me live." What I imagine is the Savannah itself crying for help. It gives me chills to think about it but I also love the depth in it.
Can't unhear that now. Makes the song even cooler tho...
Especially how the first level the trees are dancing and now those same dancing trees are being burnt up by the fire…
Sir you used the exact words to describe the whole song. Fucking Genius David Wise !
David Wise is brilliant! Mountain Mania, Big Top Bop, Bopopolis, Snakey Chantey, Lost World, Crocodile Cacophony, Gang-Plank Galleon, Fear Factory... MAN the music he does is so memorable!!!
THIS IS SO GOOD.
The only level where you can find the screaming pillars from Returns
I listen back through this playlist at least once per month while at work.
Oh, you again.
Sup, guys.
Haha it really is like once per month .
Shut up already, stop talking to yourself.
...
"Not a serious soundtrack," my ass.
I guess when you remove it from Shoehorned-Into-A-Meme context, what I was trying to accomplish with that post were 2 things:
1) Why is it suddenly called "clown music" and not just "happy videogame music"?
I mean, I wouldn't call Super Mario 64's soundtrack "so-so," as it has a wonderful water theme, an incredibly catchy, yet atmospheric underground theme remix, the intense and powerful Koopa's Road theme…none of these I would consider "happy."
That brings me to another point, I *HATE* when people generalize music of a brighter mood as simply "happy." That's the worst description in the world when it comes to music.
Praise it!! Cept the last island, they re use music a few times, but its GOOD music they re use
Caleb Jaaniste The stages in TF are much longer though. Or at least that's what I've found. There's much more variety and whatnot as well
What I love about Tropical Freeze is that every world almost tells it's own story. Best example is the third world, where everyone is happy at savanna, but then stormy winds start to blow and finally this: no one is happy and the savanna is burning.
Fantastic game indeed!
Listening to this with a good set of headphones... Absolutely EPIC
There's one quote that best describes what I felt about this stage the first time I played it.
"This is horrible..."
- Falco, 1997
Donkey Kong predicted the amazon rainforest
I think we may have found a new Stickerbrush Symphony-type music for the DKC franchise. Holy crap, this is awesome.
Lmfao !
+Antichrist2000 Aren't you edgy.
The soundtrack for this game is like an Oscar winning movie soundtrack but for a video game instead, what is shocking is that David Wise didn't get any attention by Nintendo and others for making such detailed and emotional songs, we fans are alone to appreciate his effort and that's sad tbh
I really get a DKC2 vibe from this music. It's like it's directly taken from that game, but with improved sound quality!
I agree, this song is amazing as is the whole soundtrack.
La canción es sencillamente acojonante señores, no se puede decir de otra manera. David Wise es un genio y lo ha vuelto a hacer. Un genio.
My favourite song in the game!
Homecoming Hijinx, Big Top Bop, Busted Bayou, Scorch 'N' Torch, Windmill Hills... GOSH! How are people even able to choose a favorite track? This game has so many amazing ones it is impossible for me to pick one!
+Chris Jackson How come no one mentions the Staff Roll!?
lol what about forest folly seashore war and amiss abyss? and the lockjaw saga remix of course
I've always liked Grassland Groove.
The best music of Tropical Freeze for me!
I thought that at first, but the more music I'm hearing from this game the harder it gets for me to decide what my favorite is.
I wanna hear all these DKCTF themes in 16-bit and compare them to DKC 1-3.
Not quite 16-bit, but there's a guy who did 8-bit covers off a couple Tropical Freeze songs here! ua-cam.com/video/LfjnJuXZfn8/v-deo.html
Here it is, the new Stickerbrush Symphony!
+Hudesko Definitely
WAT
This should have been a track for N64 Congo Jungle on Smash Bros. Wii U.
Just like they skipped right over the Great War from Bayonetta 2 in her DLC. Easily one of the BEST themes ever made
no you fucking idiot
you only get the first level theme from this game and the temple theme, which is another goddamn remix of jungle hyjinx
leaving this game with less tracks represented in smash brothers than mario sports superstars
why the fuck would you represent an amazing soundtrack like this, or add more than one track from majoras mask, or more than 2 tracks from the entirety of final fantasy, when you can add the mario tennis ultra smash main theme and jungle hyjinx version 89
this fits very well to the situation in australia at the moment...
Dude i hope this soundtrack is in the new smash bros
Jungle inferno has returned... like 5 years later
this is so nostalgic
Goosebumps. We are not worthy.
I love how bombastic and impactful this sounds, it's a very powerful track.
In a way, this is a horror level.
This song Should be in Super Smash Bros. Wii U, too.
David Wise & Phil Collins for the new Tarzan movie.
YEEES PLS WHY TEFUK NOT
One of my favorite themes from this game. Come to think of it; I still need to finish this game lol
finish my game
This is so DKC3 sounding! This is seriously fantastic I am already in love with this game's soundtrack.
Yeah! 1:35-ish reminds me of the River Race. =D
Woah I didn't even think about that, but it does!
This theme is AMAZING
Omg jungle inferno from fe2 and I know it’s not the original I’ve just been looking for this song
The sound effects are just amazing!
0:05 Makes me feel the hot burning temperature.
0:25 The strings mimic the movement of flames.
0:58 The flute makes me see hot wavy air above the fire, like a mirage.
David Wise is an absolute genius!
Such an awesome song. Dark, haunting, beautiful. Love donkey kong music.
This is the Fear Factory of DKC1, the Stickerbush Symphony of DKC2, the Cascade Capers of DKC3 (despite it was Eveline Fischer doing the SNES soundtrack but Wise on the GBA)... the very best ambiant music from the game.
most of the remixes, Mechanical Swamp is pretty awesome.
Don't forget Seashore War. Few video game tracks have made me tear up, but Seashore War did the trick in spades!
Excellent production from the masterful David Wise. Need to remix this OST sometime.
Coming from you it will be awesome for sure!
Why can't I fave/like a video more than once... every time I listen to this I want to show my appreciation somehow... Its just so good!
Stickerbrush Symphony, I think you may have a rival.
Really, just one?Because in all the soundtrack of the game, stickerbrush symphony has(at least)thirty confirmed rivals!
SecretScreaming Opinions man...
My gay? Nice grammar dipshit.
Well thank god you have unimaginable skills to detect sound from pixels on a screen, and even further can guess someones mood without fail. Have fun being a worthless troll in life. Hell, when I was playing Halo..I met better trolls than you.
NexYouAre
You're allowed to like more than one thing.
This theme is sooo great! After hearing it for months I can finally say: It is one of the best video game songs of all time, in my opinion of course.
Wise is a god! all him works are very awesome
I love how the instrument used for the main melody is taken straight from Donkey Kong Country 3 (GBA)!
Fuck man, both this game and soundtrack are so good. It's making me feel the same way as DKC2 did
They both have the same composer
I always remember the great forest fire in Chile in 2017 when I hear this song, and the flute part makes me imagine a condor flying over the burning forest.
What about the one in Greece.
K.Rool disliked it :/
And Lord Fredrik too :c
And Tiki Tong.... but no one cares about him :P
nintendoguy64 No!I like him quit a bit!I'm doing a personnal monotype ground run on pokemon emerald and i named my baltoy Tiki tong!
nintendoguy64 I do...sort of, well i appreciate the effort in his design.
Alex Chavez
Tiki Tong reminds me of the Pyramid hands from the desert level of Super Mario 64. I forgot its name...
This song gives me chills every time!
That flute is soo dreamy 0:59🎶😍
My favorite song, it's so dark, I freaking love it! 😍 🔥
David Wise is a genius
David Wise > Hans Zimmer
supermonkeyCL Budget is the only thing that keeps it from being obvious. Get David Wise on the next Batman, that would be awesome.
***** Well... he does have the word "wise" in his name, so that's to be expected.
+supermonkeyCL they're both good, Hans Zimmer has done great music as well
HombreAlabama My comment is for laughs :P
This level is one of the best this game has to offer in my opinions. It shows how good the theme mixing in the game is (Safari/fire is a pretty cool mix up), the music adds on to the level so much, and the visuals in this level are incredible. I would say this and maybe a few levels from the final world (not post game, but final story world) are the among the greatest examples of how fantastic this game is.
It's insane how good this song is o_O
This one is my absolute favorite. I love it so so much, the melody and atmosphere is epic, and the level it plays in is also amazing
And please tell me I'm not the only one that hears Phil Collins in this piece...
This is twice this has happened now. =P The swamp theme from DKC2 also had some very Phil Collins-esque beats. I think David Wise might be a fan.
He has great taste :)
Skeith804 Swamp theme sounds like the beginning of In the Air Tonight.
Zénith Studios - Séries Web Yeah especially with those tom drums!
David Wise must like Phil Collins (they're both British XDD )
New 38-year-old one here playing Donkey Kong in 2k19 for the first time and also having a Nintendo Switch for the first time, too. This track really caught me! It’s sooooo intense! I am in love with this game!
Love this soundtrack, Hope Nintendo releases it for platinum prize. That would be fantastic!
I love this song!David Wise is awesome!
Really master piece
Masterpiece!
In my opinion, the best DK's song ever!
I tear up in joy hearing this soundtrack from the bright Savannah I’m saving up my money to buy myself a Nintendo switch so I can play this game but I gotta say this song has like a sad meaning to the song it’s like the song is saying
Wildfires are happening in Savanah please save us
Definitely a track that could potentially top stickerbrush symphony in heightening those emotions of solitude in an almost saddening way...hard to describe it but then again props to David Wise for being able to do that consistently.
The floor is... wait, the entire level is lava.
Truly, this game is at least in the top 20 of the Best Game Soundtracks of all time.
This is the best Soundtrack in the complete Game
National Anthem of Brazil :v
oof
National anthem of California
Who else scorched and torched a bowl while listening
Donkey Kong country soundtracks never fail to astound me
After Donkey Kong celebrated the birth of Simba in Grassland Groove he came to a surprise that after two days the Groove of the Grasslands from the Bright Savannah turned into a burning, ash-filling, dancing-tree-killing battlefield.
After reaching the end of the Grasslands, Donkey Kong looked back at the now burned and slowly dying trees, knowing that even though they had a great time in Grassland Groove, nature-disasters won't stop for that and will kill everything in its path.
And then he finally learned...that only you can stop wild fires!
This is definitely one of the best Tropical freeze levels out there!
One of the best level music ever
I find that there's something very surreal and subliminal about this song. For me, just listening to it automatically gives me the impression like "Ok, something's horribly wrong. I need to get out of here NOW!" It's like this song triggers some kind of instinctive warning bells. It kind of gives me the feeling that I'm stuck inside a burning building and that I have get out of there as quickly as possible.
Given that the level itself is about DK and his friends moving through burning plains and trying to escape and survive, That feeling I just described is probably just what the developers intended. So good job!
I think Yamamoto and Wise worked together on this track, I feel both of their own styles.
It's like a mix of DKC and Metroid Prime.
