Welcome to the 70s when music was fun. This one of those songs that just brings a big smile to my face. There's a lot of great pop bands from this time. Edison Lighthouse "Love Grows", Looking Glass "Brandy", Shocking Blue, "Venus", Steam "Na Na Hey Hey", King Harvest "Dancing in the Moonlight". Thanks guys.
To that list of fun 70s songs I have to add another fave of mine, Get Down by Gilbert O' Sullivan. I have suggested it in the comments before, really hope they get to it!!
@jude. The last time I heard this song, was in an episode of The Wonder Years in the early 90s. There's a scene where Kevin and Winnie are eating at a Pizza joint, while HDYD plays softly on a Jukebox. 😊
My dad actually knew the singer through a cousin who sometimes drummed for him in the background band. Also, my mom and dad were once mistaken for Mouth and Macneal when they went out one time, because they were similarly dressed like them. Yeah, those were the seventies, kids !
Mouth & MacNeal were a pop duo from Holland. "How Do You Do" peaked @ #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1972. A follow-up single charted @ #87. That was it. (In the USA).
Jeez, I was born in 1972 and never ever heard this song before! Lol of course we had no internet until around 1997 so we have an excuse for not hearing a lot of music that came out in the 50s-70s lol
@@DPRyan-vd5pp Yikes! I was in college in 1972 and I never ever heard this record either! I can hardly believe that it was in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 and, after all these years, have no memory of ever hearing it played anywhere! (Unless the clapping & beer hall vibe in the video clip changes the sound of the original record significantly?)
I was five when it came out. For over 40 years it haunted me, just the beat of the choirs stuck in my head randomly playing and I could not find the song. It stemmed from the summer of my 6th birthday a great one involving a trip to the beach with my best friend and family. I can easily remember the hot backseat of my best friends moms 1960s round back Volvo that smelled like PeanutButter. A beautiful summer day on our way to meet up with my family at the beach for a BBQ. This song playing as we drove and talked about the coming Hydro plain races and the Stock car races soon after that we were all invited to. The song would be forever tied to that day, but I could never remember more than the choirs. On my 45th birthday my daughter, after herring me humming the choirs over and over and asking about it some months before, somehow found it and got me it on iTunes. This song will ALWAYS be in my heart.
Maybe you're about to fall into the Eurovision Song Contest. A few famous people have performed in it over the years. Olivia Newton John, Celine Dion & Engelbert Humperdinck to name three of them.
Actually, "I See A Star" would be a great Mouth & MacNeal song for Jay & Amber to react to. Another one would be by Willem's later pairing with Ingrid Kup as Big Mouth & Little Eve performing "Uncle". Now that is a catchy song that you can't help but sing along with.
Oh gosh, I was so afraid you were going to shred this song to bits... SO GLAD you liked it. This song is just one of those songs you cannot help but sing and clap along to. It draws you in, she has a sweet delivery and the flirtatious tone of it just makes it awesome. Thanks for this reaction.
This is one of those songs you remember when you were a kid and have no idea who did it or who they were. Remember young folk of today, it was only radio then, maybe you could see them on a show like TOTP or Bandstand but usually kids younger than teenagers weren't watching those shows and you'd likely not catch groups at this level very often on TV (outside the UK).
I grew up in the US and for years didn't know the names of songs from my early childhood or who sang them. The DJs rarely said the names of songs or artists that I remember. But I was quite little then so maybe I might have missed some.

That word/phrase "Na-na Nana" is doing a LOT of work in this song as a euphemism for sexytimes.😁😁 My family was traveling through Europe in the summer of 1973, and this was a HUGE hit in Europe back then.
Me and a buddy had left one of those parties of which Amber was speaking 1971ish. This song, that we had never heard, came on the car radio. Within 60 seconds we were popping the dash in time to the beat and singing. We couldn't help ourselves. Nice blast from the past.

AHahaha! OH MY! I haven't heard that song in FOREVER! And yes, you HAVE to sing along with this. Great reaction. It's so funny because I was thinking about how clean and family friendly this song was, then Amber comes along and says the same thing.
Mouth & MacNeal's 'How Do You Do' is an absolute classic that never gets old. The song was written by the band's guitarist, Hans van Hemert, and was released in 1972? It reached number one in several countries, including Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The song has been covered by many artists over the years, but the original version remains the best.
I haven’t heard this song in probably nearly 50 years. I never even knew who sang it, and I had never seen the video. This song is a perfect example of how fun, and simple the 70s were. Of all the decades I’ve lived through, the 70s are definitely the decade I would relive if I could.
Such a great happy song from my childhood! Fun for any age really! Kids can sing it obviously but then a good pub drinking song too! Puppets seem to enjoy it as well!

It may be just because I was a little kid when it came out but it definitely grabbed my attention right away and stuck with me. I never would have thought to suggest this one. I'm glad someone did.
Yes Mouth (Willem Duyn) is the man and Maggie MacNeal (Sjoukje van't Spijker or Sjoukje Smit) is the woman. She does get a moment to show what she can do here. This is an extremely fun, catchy tune that is hard not to join in to. I was 11 when it came out and sang along whenever it came on the radio. I hadn't seen this video before.
