I think about this comment a lot and then find myself laughing when I come to find this video. It's so accurate and she's so sweet, but will totally murderlise you on drums.
I have met and talked to her before. Not only does she have great playing techniques as a drummer, she also has a great personality. She is very humble, polite and has a great sense of humor. If you can understand Japanese, her Twitter will be a lot of fun.
Senri is the real deal. She just totally destroys the stereotype of a badass drummer with a lot of tattoos, piercings and other silly macho bullshit. She looks like an innocent little schoolgirl, but plays better and heavier than all the established names in rock music. It's just unbelievable... She's truly a force of nature.

It honestly seems like it's almost the norm for young people. I was so close to getting several as a teen, but as it became so popular it turned me off. Now I tend to think it's pretty pagan and not good. Our bodies are not our own to do whatever we please with. We belong to our Creator

Senri is the perfect blend of old skool and new innovative techniques. She employs them all creatively and flawlessly. She could easily play for any Rock band in the world (for money and fame), but chooses to embrace the most challenging musical endeavors. She's not just one of the best "girl" drummers ever, she's one of the best drummers overall. When you've shared the stage with masters like Lee Ritenour, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl and Akira Jimbo (and they all respect your chops) you're undoubtably a "world class" musician. I've been following Senri for at least 10 years. I had the privilege of meeting her and seeing her perform in a Yamaha drum clinic in Canada in 2022. She is an incredible musician and a very humble and kind person. I hope that her star continues to rise. She is on the path to being one of the world's great drummers.
Kinda awestruck. Not only by the phenomenal playing, but how the first time I saw a clip of her, I described like this... "Its as if she were a cup, and the music water. And it simply pours out of her. Effortlessly, naturally." When she made a similar simile near the end of the video I got chills. Rock on girl, just seeing the joy it puts on your face as you play was awesome to witness, then the fact that you have a killer style on top of the love of playing, you're one of my top favorites now, instantly. Keep it up! Everybody needs to discover joy like this in something.

I know there’s probably some added effort required because of the language barrier, but I just want to say “Thank You” to Drumeo for providing content from Senri. I’ve been following her for about 5 years and she’s the reason I’ve discovered other amazing Asian musicians and bands. In my opinion, when it comes to female musicians, the Japanese ladies seem to dominate. While Senri is my favorite Jazz/Fusion/Soloist drummer, when it comes to the Rock/Hard Rock/Metal genre, Akane Hirose of Band-Maid (also from Japan) is definitely my favorite and currently ranked #1 on Rankers Greatest Female Drummers List (Hint, hint, some content from Akane would be great). As for my favorite Cover/UA-cam drummer, check out Tarn Softwhip from Thailand. She does amazing covers by Avenged Sevenfold and many others. Check out “Bat Country”.
Akane is seriously insane and such a joy to watch on the kit. She's so creative, makes everything look effortless, and just looks like she's having the time of her life. Love her.

That double-bass pattern is the beginning of "Hot For Teacher". It sounds EXACTLY like it. When she was playing it really slow, it reminded me of when I was trying to learn how to play it by playing the LP and spinning the record by hand so I could hear all the notes. She's nailing it! Man, I have to practice more!

I suspect some of the most extreme talent in the world has been suppressed by idiots. Actually I can pretty much can guarantee that true with the data I've seen. Parasitic ankle biters are a group that are beyond useless, and usually the ones that take most of the profit, all the while harming the outcomes. Not always, but often.
I love how I found her in high school, she inspired me to get better, then I enlisted in the army and lost all my chops, and here I am again in quarantine drumming again because of her.
Playing drums since she was five. She's 23 in this video, so that's 18 years of playing. Senri's first DVD came out in 2009, when she was twelve and she start gigging soon after. Her first solo CD was released on her 16th birthday. She's young, yes - and look even younger than her years - but her understanding of the kit is at a whole different level. These are her four favorite licks, folks. That means she probably plays them without much conscious effort. Her ability is almost frightening.

And most of her communication is in Japanese, so she's more realistic than humble. Maybe she's underestimating the number of people who've heard of her, because her Zildjian vault video has 500K views, but the number of views on her own channel are way below that, so it's indeed reasonable for her to introduce herself assuming that many people will see her for the first time.

She still very very rarely makes it to people's greatest drummer lists even though she's definitely up there. Japanese fusion jazz is just a bit obscure as a genre for westerners so not many people have heard her playing apart from the people who purposely seek drumming videos on UA-cam.

I loved the k-on vids before most of the videos got restricted from the US, but the drumeo work is even more amazing, and the demo’s released a couple years back is something I still reference today
She is mixing 3/4, 4/4, single strokes, double strokes and Dble bass pedals to create an extremely strong vocabulary of phrases. I would love to see her work with Steve Smith.

Besides being in incredible drummer she's also an excellent teacher. (other than the "This is easy..." part...)
She is mixing 3/4, 4/4, single strokes, double strokes and Dble bass pedals to create an extremely strong vocabulary of phrases. I would love to see her work with Steve Smith.

Maybe I'm wrong but I seemed to spot a derogatory intention in your first comment, like "bah, that's so easy, I can do better", you know what I mean. If I missunderstood you I apologize.
But if I don't, I just don't understand why the fact of being simple or easy must be taken as a negative thing. The important thing for me is if it sounds good, and in my opinion, what she does here (and every time I saw her) sounds really good.
