Mick, this is a great channel. Keep up with the good work. Rick Baker is a genius, and a very kind and gentle soul. The world would be a better place if we had more Rick Baker's around.
I was this exact kid growing up...loved all the monster "make-ups". My parents went to Hollywood in the summer of '73 and asked what I wanted them to bring me back. I said "liquid latex, fake hair and grease paints"
@@synthlover1761 No I didn’t! I went into engineering and music as a hobby. But I sure respect and admire the talent and ingenuity of special effects artists.
Rick is my idol. Since I was a young fella I've been obsessed with creatures and practical Fx. Being an artist I have always drawn inspiration from this modern master. Thank you so much for this amazing interview. Picking Rick's brain is immensely helpful to an artist such as myself.
Mick - this series of interviews is the best I've seen as a horror fan. Really perfect! I think this one with Rick is my favourite. Man I wanna hang out with that dude.
Rick was/is a childhood hero of mine and at 13 AWL was what set me off to try work in special effect. Meeting him and getting a job offer was a top highlight of my career. Too bad the film was cancelled a few days after getting the call. (Isobar) Never got another chance after that sadly which is long story, but it's still one of my best memories.
I love creature makeup, and Rick Baker is the Master of monster making . If I had the chance to learn from him , it would fulfill a dream. Ever since I started playing with makeup at 15 , I was definitely trying anything to get in that direction. I saw the Exorcist, I hated it, scared me so bad it left a huge scar on my psyche. I couldn’t sleep for 2 weeks after seeing it . But I was 9 at the time . Reality scares me more than fiction. This was very interesting. Believe me I’d love to have the chance to meet Rick Baker .
Mr. Garris. Your interviews are amazing. Ive listened to all post mortem podcast episodes. Rick baker was my favorite, and carpenter, and robert englund. but the wes craven interview will always be my favorite. That creepy story he told you about that guy who stared at him that night as a kid... who eventually became FREDDY! anyway, Thank You Mick Garris. “You know it’s Halloween. Anyone who can turn Eddie Murphy into an old white Jewish man (Coming to America), most of an overweight family (The Nutty Professor 1 and 2) and an old Asian man (Norbit) is very talented.
So glad you're enjoying these.
You two are possibly the nicest guys in the business! And both so talented!
..... Rick Baker is so brilliant. Another great interview.

Nice to see Rick Baker interviewed considering all the work he has done.
The film that blew my mind when I was a kid was The Green Slime. That film was wacked out.
