This calligraphy tutorial is going to show you how to easily get started with modern calligraphy- including how to hold a brush pen, how to apply the proper pressures, and how to do some basic calligraphy strokes to get you started.

Hey could you make a video of the whole alphabet in calligraphy please. It'll be really helpful because I've only just begun and it's hard for me to figure out where to break the letters. Please use a light coloured brush pen so that it'll be easier to see. Just you writing letters in calligraphy! Thank you so much and love your tutorials.

Hi Becca! I'm a lefty and I have a lot of problems in making the thin upstrokes which is really frustrating. It just doesn't come out to be thin😕.. Could you please give me some advice?🙏
Sameee i noticed these strokes just aren't made for left handed people 💀 cuz if i hold it at 45° from there it will be opposite

How do I compensate pen angle since I’m left handed? I don’t write with my hand bent over the top of my page, if that makes sense. I turn my page on a sharp right turn to write.

I as a beginner tried using the camlin brush pens
But lemme say this
They have a large soft tip
Which makes them a bit sensitive to pressure and turns
Instead you should try a brush pen with smaller or harder tip in order to write more fluent!!!

Hi Becca. I just saw and read that Tombow brush pens can be refilled!!! Is this a good idea? They can be expensive to buy when using them often. What do you think about refilling them? Thank you in advance for your help.

Tips for brush pens that seem to dry out really fast making the lettering not be as dark? The brush pen that has “BR” on the cap is a pointed felt tip almost. I am not sure if I am pushing too hard or…?

The brush opens I have are P I G M A Brush and they dont bleed through paper
I have zebra midliners (dual end) and the colour payoff isn't that great but they're pretty good and don't bleed through
Is Moleskin notebook paper considered high quality for these brush pens?

For my compound strokes, no matter how lightly I press on the up stroke, it doesn't thin out. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I just received as a gift a set of 35 markers that have a brush end and a very fine tip end. Will this work?
They look very generic (form Amazon, almost sure these came from China) have no color names nor numbers.
My brush pens make thick lines even on upstrokes, despite me changing the pressure and position of the pen. So the difference between up and down strokes are minimal :/
Hi! How frustrating! I hope you got this sorted out already, but in case you haven’t, here goes: it is probably due to angle of the pen in relation to the paper. If, for instance, you happen to hold then pen body parallel to the top and bottom of the page, the marks will come out thick on both the up strokes and downstrokes. We often do not realize exactly how we hold the pen to the paper, so we think we are doing it right until we really examine our work.
