It's extremely easy if you're not 71 years old, having started your novel with pencil and lined paper. It took years. It's damned good. I'm just going to hire a young person to do the hard part. At least I know it can be done! Thanks!

I truly do appreciate your walk through.
I have a Book I'm trying to publish and have many Publishers interested in the Book .
But I have to pay them to get that done.
I'm not capable of doing that now for some reasons that would send chills up your spine.
But that's another story for another time.
I'm considering doing it myself but I'm skittish that I could mess up as it's my first time.
    Thanks again.

My subscribers have been wanting me to make a cookbook and I'm pretty clueless not to mention scared that I won't make a profit, or I'll get in over my head. This was definitely very helpful. Can you tell me how much percentage does Amazon take for print version and do they distribute globally with print version. Also does the pricing include shipping for the printed version. I plan on doing e-book also but most of my subscribers specified they want a print version. Thank you, so much for an awesome video.

Also, I found that there's a bit of a difference between ingrams park and KDP as well. So if you're going to use those different services, you're going to need different size covers. The person I got my covers from adjusted for the different services and no extra charge.

I started dictating my books on Loom (video platform). The platform produces a transcript of the video. I drop the transcript into ChatGPT to remove the timestamps (be sure to prompt it to NOT change any other text). Then I drop the transcript into Word/Google doc and edit. It's the difference between typing 2000 words/per hour and producing 2000 words in 15 minutes. I've published 8 books this way.

Thanks i really want to publish my books! I have a question about the larger arc of a series.. how do you finish book 1 say, but not conclude the umbrella arc? Doesnt book 1 feel unfinished? Thanks so much

That's a tough question to answer in a comment box BUT I'm excited to say I have a whole playlist about series and I know I talk about that in a couple videos - here's the link: ua-cam.com/play/PL3IFBPbxQRyrI7g9Zmt9Q2fOKDrxoRinN.html&si=4_mziJBBOu9M_NZY

Great video! The only thing I would mention is that if you want your content copyrighted, there is a $65 fee for that... technically, having a copyright page in your book is the best first step, but to really solidify the protection, it could be registered.

Unfortunately I have copyright and my books still get stolen and pirated. Unless I want to take them to court, the copyright does nothing for me. Plus in the US your work is copyrighted the moment you write it.

Great video, thank you so much. I have only one question, if you want to format for ebook only, what do you recommend during the actual writing process? Is it easier to do some "preformatting" before plugging it into D2D? Or just basics like chapter headers and assorted illustration, and D2D takes care of most of it?

Thank you for this very informative information. I'm trying to get my book published. I'm thinking of going through a publishing company being that it's my first book and new to this process. And as far as the editing formatting cover etc I rather leave that to the professionals instead of doing it myself. But I do wanna do self publishing because I wanna have control over my book. And most publishing companies you have to pay which I don't really want to. But they said that I will still have the royalties to my book
Would you be able to to recommend sites to get advice from professional authors etc

Thank you so much for this video! I worked with a editor/publisher from my church and it cost me $2500 for them to help me and they used KDP. I have been asked to do an "uncensored" version of my story since it was dumbed down by my editor and was scared about spending another $2500 but now I can do it myself thanks to you :) I do wonder what your opinion is on my cover, since I am releasing pretty much the same book but with my graphic details do I need to change the cover or keep it the same?

Bethany, I am grateful for this information. However, I am now confused about the physical books. How do I go about getting the hard copies if the ebook is that simple?

Great video and certainly really helpful for those who want to self publish books. 😊
I would suggest that in future videos, try to get the sound of your video edited (I was listening to it with headphones, and the background felt a bit too noisy at times).
You have a great sounding voice, so if you get that sorted out, you'll sound even better. If you need help with that contact me, I'll be willing to help out. 🙂

Thank you, I appreciate the kind feedback! Unfortunately, I'm not tech savvy and am a full time mom, so while I'd definitely like to learn more about sound quality, it's something that will have to happen slowly over time just due to always being behind on my work haha... But I'll make a note to work on it when I can!
