Saying that Tyson in his prime was just aggression, power, and chaos does a disservice to how truly skilled he was. His footwork, defense, accuracy, timing, and ability to throw fight ending punches with either hand were second to none in the 80's. Not to mention his endless stamina, ability to close the distance quickly, and ring generalship used to cut off escape routes. Iron Mike was good, but Kid Dynamite was the best ever.

I sort of disagree. When Tyson lost to Buster Douglas.........that fight was very fishy. I dont think Mike threw it but Mike looked seriously mentally off. Personally I thought he was medicated. His corner guy was yelling at him and I think he even slapped him to wake up.
With that Tyson knocked Douglas down and the ref seemingly counted to 264.
Tyson losing in 1990 was a money maker for Don King who at that point had his hooks in Tyson. PPV was suffering because Tyson was knocking guys out in seconds and people didnt want to pay the then $50 to watch 3 minutes of a fight.
When Tyson knocked out Spinks that was Tyson's pinnacle. It was 49 seconds and the rumor was the Tyson fired Cus D'amato's group in the ring after the fight. King had hooks in him and that was the end of Tyson as we knew him.
My opinion as guy that grew up in Brooklyn at the same time Tyson did is that King and Givens took away seeing the greatest fighter that ever lived from all of us. He is still up there but they took it away.

Tyson, like Bruce Lee, is the most dangerous kind of fighter. He's a fighter AND a philosopher. He's a thinker, a fact that might've surprised many back in his early years. I think Mike got off his game mentally after Robin Givens and that period of time when his life was a fiasco but he got it back by the time he started doing his one-man stage shows. Tyson was impressive in his training for Roy Jones but I think they had a deal that Mike wouldn't knock his head off. This time, it's a sanctioned fight and I expect Tyson's regimen to be even more impressive and I expect him to be ready for a fight. Whether it's the perspectives he shares or the insight into using non-conventional training techniques, you can never rule out Mike Tyson. He's a dangerous man even at 58 and may just shock the world not just with a win over Paul but with HOW he wins.
