Destin is chatting with Keith Moore, head librarian at the Royal Society (who came in to film with us on a Saturday - thanks Keith!).
Films by James Hennessy and Brady Haran (sorry James was away this day, so you got stuck with Brady filming and editing!)

Got any aviation or industrial revolution things in there? Would love to see it!
how has no one seen this comment from such an amazing youtuber?
He's got plenty
This need more replies
I'd love to see this episode!
Much as the rocketry and ballistics stuff was fascinating... that dad dancing though
I think what is great about Brady and Destin and why their channels do so well is because they are not geniuses. Kieth is brilliant, but Brady and Destin ask questions and don't pretend to just understand things, so in trying to understand by asking questions and summarizing, it helps us understand. Good shit yall.
Thanks, I am certainly no genius... In Destin's defence, he is an actual rocket scientist and one of the cleverer guys I know! :)
- Brady
Cat's out of the bag man, they saw us dance.
Not a genius, oh c'mon Dr. Brady!
+Objectivity can we please see more of the dancing footage?
Destin is a rocket scientist...
This may very well be the best Objectivity video yet, because of how it goes more deeply into the matter discussed.
I agree; it was absolutely marvelous! I know there was editing but Keith did a great job picking out materials for Destin and his joy in revealing them was obvious.
I totally agree. But not only that! Keith and Destin obviously had fun together and that came out very well in the video.
i don't know why but I like the moments when Destin just says "what's a carronade" and "what's a hadely"
Me too, it's like Keith is systematically destroying my ignorance.
I like getting my ignorance destroyed too.
And the fun is, more you know, the more you know how little you know....
You could almost say.. You get smarter everyday!
I like it because he´s unafraid of showing he, too, has stuff left to learn. No unnecessary ego-polishing, just genuine interest and curiosity.
I think most people would try to hide ignorance even when asking, but Destin's just straightforward, unafraid, "What is it?" is very refreshing
Keith and Destin - what a fantastic pairing.
So true. You could tell Keith liked presenting the material and Destin was equally as happy to digest it.
It's really impressive how Destin is behaving. I am only studying natural science at a basic level, but one of the biggest challenges for me and my classmates is the fear of looking stupid and asking questions. Destin is so honestly interested, and when he doesn't understand he asks questions straight out. It is really an inspiration and so nice to see!
You can really see Destin's mind turning as Keith is showing him these items. So wonderful of you to bring Destin to the Royal Society Brady.
The way Destin's face lights up when he sees the book's title is absolutely priceless.
Keith's depth and breadth of knowledge still astounds me. I loved watching Destin as he learns something new and gets excited about it.
My 2 favorite youtubers! Destin and Brady in the same video! And it's awesome!
RedKB hi, didn't expect to see you here :)
This. Was. Interesting.
What. A. Video.
+TheGreatNordini Guns. And. Rockets.
watched it twice
back to back
OH. MY. GOD
+
Knowledge = power = energy = mass = Keith is a blackhole
I think this is one of the best objectivity videos - Destin is not only super interested but completely understands what is being discussed in the texts which amplifies his passion.
For me I think this is how I would want to research, discovering things that I understand but looking through documentation of someone who doesnt and is trying to discover for themselves and by doing so you are effectively looking at their train of thought and how they understand the concept at hand. And to top it all realising that this is not a modern day person learning through practice how to do these things but someone 3/400 years ago and most likely the very first person to have thought about these things, and comparing equipment used today is not dissimilar to equipment used then.
I really liked this and I think it showed that Destin really liked this as well. I look forward to the white hands of Destin-y :P
+
I like to believe that Keith has omniscient knowledge of the world and uses these documents as a cover to hide his powers.
Also, can't wait for the white gloves of Destin-y!
Of all the guests... You get Destin and skip the opportunity for the white gloves of DESTINy. lol
+fasfan someone didn't watch to the very end. :)
Objectivity
I did watch to the end... or I thought I did. I must have missed it. Gotta watch it again.
I totally missed that, too! That oughta be a fun one as well
im actually hella excited for that video :) Cant wait for it
The interest Destin shows, the care Keith and Brady put into delivering the goods. Everything in this video just warms my heart. Thank you guys.
brady right there at the end, he knows whats up. watched every smarter every day episode at least twice, but only seen like an eighth of the objectivity videos
I love Keith's soft library voice and Destin's loud field voice being in the same room. This is a great episode.
Destin is a lovely guy, God bless him.
that wedding dance was awesome
There were 4 more seconds to that video and it got even better.
@@smartereveryday Is it on your channel? Or Instagram??
2:09 Am I the only one who is amazed at the fact that keith just said the word ''Cool'' ?!?
Smart folks can be cool, and know what cool is. The ones who don't use ordinary language just because it's ordinary, probably aren't as smart as they think they are. Keith, as far as I can tell, is smart *and* cool.
keith lookin fresh
Yeah, I mean look at that tie. Did not expect that.
you can see Destin can barely contain his curiosity and excitement, but that he is wary of touching the sensitive old documents. love it!
I hope Destin recreates the force gauges per the diagrams and tests them against current methods. It would be cool to look at how accurate they were.
And knowing Destin, he just might do that.
@4:40 It looks like they edited out Destin saying "Awesome."
I don't remember ever hearing about Benjamin Robins before, this was extremely interesting. Thank you.
This has to be one of the best ones yet. This is a video of two people completely geeking out.
I love when the teachers of the internet become students for just a moment. Especially people like Destin, because he's so enthusiastic about his interests.
*Happy smile* Two men who really want to make the world a better place.
Brady, Keith and Destin. You all are awesome. Carry on with being great humans
4:00 I love how Destin falls back to 'science talk' when he has to think hard of something
"You already watch Smarter Every Day, don't go watch another Smarter Every Day video, watch another Objectivity video, you've already seen all that guy's videos"
xD
Watching Destin and Keith together is awesome :-)
Brady and Destin, this science education through internet video is a noble goal. But I think what would most benefit all of mankind is recording Keith saying Roll Tide in the halls of the Royal Society!! Seriously though, you guys are both at the top of your game and it's great to see you two collaborating. Thanks for what you do!
I love your videos. This channel is the best little treasure trove on the internet.
+Tyler Walton thank you. I like the sound of treasure trove.
I thought you are going to make White gloves of Destin))
+
Keith never lets you down now we want Grant Thompson and Colin furze and veritasium on objectivity
I just loved seeing Destin geek out. Just another reason I'm drawn to the real emotional response for these creators. great work! subscribed. I'm catching up on old video now
I am quite proud that the history of my little country provokes wonderment and enthusiasm in Destin. No coincidence that tattooed from shoulder to shoulder across my chest are the immortal words: nullius in verba.
I can imagine the conversation beforehand. "What are we going to show him?"
"He's American. Show him gun stuff." :-)
That was a terrific episode!!
the tie with skulls and heart is awesome.
Man, I love Destin, but this is probably my favorite video he's ever been in. You can see the enthusiasm shine through the camera. And when he realizes the methods they used before, it's almost like you can touch his sense of awe for the people that figured this out way, way back. By far the best Objectivity video to date!
I love how low-key super excited he is looking at this! And how quick he is to say "I don't know what _____ is." That's how you get smarter every day!!!
Yeah. It's cool that he doesn't feel like he has to pretend to know everything already.
I was not prepared for that clip of epic proportions, and thus embarrassed that I should have known someone, who is as hard as a nail, would deign to grace us with such love and life.
I've seen this episode before, but upon a rewatch I'm just now noticing Keith's tie. What an awesome tie!
Brady is a legend, he contributed alot to maths and science youtube channels.
It's amazing to see a guy as smart as Destin so humbled and curious.
I don’t know who was having more fun in this episode, Destin or Keith. This seemed like a great time as much for both and it really came through. Great video.
That tie of Kieth's is absolutely lovely!)
The colours (gold and purple if I recognised it correctly) are very noble and gala...
People aren't appreciating the top notch wedding dancing
I love the way Destin admits "I don't know what a carronade is". That's the true sign of intelligence.
I would happily watch the clip of you two dancing all day, the most i have smiled in weeks!
apart they don't trigger but keith and destin next to eachother makes one much more english gentleman and the other much more gemini astronaut.
I guess we'll find out in about 10-11 months if Destin becomes an astronaut. I know he has applied, but NASA received so many applications that interviewing all highly qualified applicants and selecting the most suitable people takes time, so the next NASA astronaut candidate class won't be announced until June next year!
WOW! Speechless...if a laymen like me could spend one hour in there...speechless...that would be absolutely incredible! WOW!
Brady and Destin making a video together! YESSS!
I love how curious and engaged Brady and Destin always look when Keith tells them about this stuff. You can easily see their love of learning.
Your smile is contagious, and seen how excited you are about science is cool
This surely is one of the most interesting episodes in part because the object isn't a piece of wood that someone famous from couple hundred years ago hold at one time, but just book and a really fascinating topic.
that video of you guys dancing....hah cracked me the hell up
Drag equations and wigs go well together.
You had me at 0:12! Looks like you guys were having a regular dance-off. Grand stuff!!!
Destin in London! Oh! this is cool. The dance part was the best!
I have no idea what anything they're saying means, but it feels great seeing intelligent people engage with their interests
Subscriber of both channels, this is one of the best of both. Bravo, respect, and props.
I like that sound bite that's just Destin saying "Rockets"
I love seeing Destin nerd out about this stuff!
Cool video. Keith's tie equally cool.
I love watching Destin learn
Destin is a inspiration to me. He makes Science fun
Destin has such a thirst for knowledge. You can read it on his face he's so excited and engaged.
3:00 THAT is how you get good at science.
It doesn't matter if you're in front of your friends, your class or on camera. If you don't know something, you find out what it is.
The shame is not in not knowing, but in choosing to stay ignorant.
Science! UA-cam channels like this are just such a gift. I love seeing how excited people get, seeing the gears turning when looking at this history. Also, Destin! haha. I subscribe to so many of these guys, all amazing people. Thanks for all you hard work guys!
Keith is the man... love this guy.
Oh, that tie Kieth is wearing... Love it!
the librarians voice is so soothing
Does Keith just know everything about everything? I assumed he prereads this stuff before the videos get made, but whenever Destin or Brady have a specific question, Keith knows the exact answer right away.
This is pretty much all i ever wanted.
"That's CLEVER." 2:30 lol
As a self proclaimed physicist, I like the drag coefficient measurement. 🧐 I like the above emoji too.😊
Two of my favorite youtubers combining.
Love it.
Here's to the longevity of all of your channels!
My god, Keith always amazes me, how can a man store all this information in his head?
Destin is basically the reincarnation of these people from the 17th century 😂
DESTIN INTRO: "ROCKETS" *gunfire and banjos*
This is one of the most interesting Objectivities yet. I suspect that Destin and I share a lot of interests.
You made me loudly gasp in the middle of the subway. Now people are looking at me.
I hope you're happy.
This is some of the best content I've seen on this channel.
Wow, Destin and Keith! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finally, I have been waiting for this videos since I saw you guys togheter on Instagram. Awesome!
My two favorite channels combined.... awesome
This is the best. You guys are awesome!
Awesome! Cannot wait for the White Gloves, that will be fantastic!
love seeing this kinda of collaboration
Destin was so great in this. I liked how excited he was. :)
Loved this episode.
Destin look at the books like a kid opening christmas presents.
Love this episode
This was awesome (and Keith's tie is so cool)
Loved this so much!
I look at Keith's fashion style and I think: smarter every day!
