Thank you for the update. Diana’s journey sounds like she heading in the right direction. I ’ve had CFS/ME for years but can now do more than most people who don’t even have it, so long as I pace myself. The first two years seemed to be the least productive, with the crashes, but slowly with walks of 5m then, 10m then, then 100m and so on, I’ve found the old me again. Brain fog is hard to deal with but I really believe relieving yourself of unnecessary guilt (after all you didn’t choose your health so there no need to feel you let anyone down) is important. Her partner sounds like an angel. I was let down and left to get on with it, accused of faking it by my partner (yes, unbelievable, but this was 30 years ago when people didn’t know much, I hope we’re all more educated now). I do wonder on the merits of gut health and wish I’d tried something in that direction back then, but you clutch at every straw and results are never instant so it’s hard to measure. Anyway, I’m following Dianna’s journey and willing her better. I think about her often and check for information when it becomes available.
Diana’s plight helps exposes a quiet and too ignored symptom of Covid. I hope they can figure out what is blocking her from getting enough energy to get back to physicing
Any adverse effects from Covid or the vaccines will likely never get the the proper funding for medical research because of its political nature. If it doesn’t, then I’ll thank her for everything she’s shared with us. She has touched and enriched so many more lives than she’ll ever understand.
Absolutely! Hopefully she gets better and hopefully this helps some people understand how gravely serious SARS-COV-2 really is and makes them think twice about letting themselves get infected! N95+, ventilation, purification, and Novavax are the best tools we have (as well as CPC mouthwash, mouth & nose sprays, good nutrition, magnesium, zinc, and elderberry) but they only work if we actually use them to protect the health and freedoms of ourselves and those around us! We have so much more knowledge than we did the last global pandemic - why not use it?

@@kinpandun2464 This, as someone living with it for over 10 years now. You have good days and bad days and there is almost nothing that anyone can do about it. Often there is no external or easily identifiable reason for a day being good or bad. They have made some progress in understanding CFS but CFS is not just one thing so, for some they can help. Recently there have been studies that show that most people with CFS have high antibody count for one of a narrow band of lifetime viruses. In my case I constantly show like I am about to have a shingles outbreak, but I don't. This "but I don't" is common throughout those with high anitbody counts for specific viruses and CFS. We never exhibit symptoms. However we have very strange problem of muscle loss, cognitive failure, often a burning pain in the body/muscles (non-specific) that regular pain killers cannot mediate. I for one test as having a neurotransmitter level as though I've been awake for 50-72hours. Just that never goes away. I am in a constant state of function like someone who has been up for more than two days or three. Anyways, the viral marker, when people were treated with antiviral drugs and the counts dropped the CFS symptoms would go away.. but eventually would return and so too would the antibody count. They don't know why or what triggers it. But it's a start. In my case the treatment worked (took about 3 months to take effect) then about 7 months later, it just came back. So we can "manage" it, but it won't go away, probably never. It's pretty much stolen my life. When it acts up it takes 3 months to get better even on the medication, then I can be assured that something will trigger it again and it will return. It hangs like a shadow over those windows of normalcy.
@kinpandun2464 exactly. I have it and fibromyalgia, diagnosed in 2022 but symptoms started in 2021. I was just forced back to work from my insurance and basically ended up in a flair. I knew it would happen because they didnt adhere to any of the pacing requests i made. I'm in so much pain right now and it makes me angry to know it didn't have to be like this. I'm on a leave again as of today. I feel so much for Diana and I hope she can find her new normal. It sounds like her CFS is extreme right now. I really hope she feels the love around her from her community.
@@Sm0lm0lsame and same. I know "it's the thought that counts" but as someone else who would help, who would love to but can't this is the best case scenario. I hope myself and others will eventually be able to give back not just to Diana but to anyone.

@@tyroneemail I'm not sure about ammonia but there is possibly an issue with methylation of some compounds across the blood brain barrier. In some cases, active B12 (methylcobalamin) makes a difference. Also Griffith University in Queensland Australia have an active research program into ME/CFS.

Very generous of you, Olcans. Such a great cause. I'm sure Dianna and Kyle are truly touched by your care for her. Hoping for great things to come for her, but also to you. Cheers
As someone with chronic pain-fatigue and some illnesses, this makes me want to cry because it’s hard to have someone that try to understand and to help you in your needs in every step. So happy for them ❤
Hang in there, Dianna. I believe Destin was right to say what he said, to you and to us. You always seemed like the kind of person who fosters such a community of people around you who would truly just want to see you get better, in a situation like this, and not expect anything else before that.🤘
I was supported in my (wife's) time of need by people who did not know us. It is my privilege to continue to pay it forward in her honor. Rest, heal and know that you are loved.
Firstly, this is so, so kind of you. I'm glad that some altruism can also provide some personal comfort. Second, for anyone else considering donating, I want to echo the sentiment of another user (@green4black) to point out that a higher percentage of your contribution will help Dianna if you donate on GoFundMe or Patreon. This is nothing personal against Google, but their cut is substantially higher (30%). It's a different platform for a different purpose, so it aligns its margins closer to Twitch. GoFundMe takes a 2.9% cut and Patreon takes a 5% cut. Just an FYI! (One last note: for charitable fundraisers on UA-cam, Google does not take a cut at all. However, donating on this video will not be counted as a charitable donation.)
I'm a retired doctor and my grandmother, a nurse, once told me 'While there is life there is hope'. I used that phrase a lot in my career. So pleased Diana is making progress.
We all met you through physics videos, but that's NOT why we care about you. Keep fighting, and you can teach us all some more physics after you feel better! If you want... no pressure 😊
Diana i caught covid not long after finishing chemo, long story short i ended up in ICU and was placed in a coma for 3 months while a machine ran my heart, lungs and kidneys, i wasnt expected to make it on multiple occasions but eventually pulled through and was awakened from my coma. i lost all my muscles and had to learn to walk and everything again but i kept pushing and kept fighting and today im almost 100% again. Keep fighting and keep pushing!! You can do this!! We are rooting for you!!
Wow Josh, that is a Lot to go through. It is really amazing that you survived all of that. Glad to hear that you made it through! And I truly hope that your chemo was successful.
I love that there are familiar faces surrounding Diana. Thanks for the update, Destin. I didn't expect the immense joy I'm feeling after seeing you three smiling together like that. Keep it up, Diana!
you can absolutely tell when someone is a determined, but extremely exhausted, caregiver. the mix of physical fatigue from exertion or losing sleep from worry/pain, and the mental fatigue of being so worried for the person you are caring for. being a caregiver is an incredible act of love and compassion. what an incredible caregiver Kyle is. the organization he puts into his care is amazing.
The part where she needed to take a break from talking...man, you don't know how real that is unless you've been there. I went through a period of nearly 15 years of excruciating pain. I lost everything and my parents were caring for me. There wasn't a single thing I could do by myself, yet my body and my mind were working in overdrive harder than they ever had. My parents were my biggest blessing and they showed me an example of true love that I could have never envisioned. Eventually, I got better and at the age of 40, I went back to college to get my Mechanical Engineering degree. Yesterday, I found out that I was accepted into the Upper Division and in two more years, I will have my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Hang in there Diana, take the first downs when you can and keep driving. And for Kyle, what a true warrior. He's going through it too and needs as much support. Let's help this wonderful couple out so they can focus on what they need to do.
Was there any specific treatments that you can look back and identify that helped turn the tide? I've got a similar story to you / Dianna (ME/CFS). Looking for anyway to get out of this rut.
I tore my left sacroilliac joint when I was a firefighter. It's one of the two joints that connects your spine to your pelvis. If you follow your spine down to your belt line, they are about 1" on either side. It was excrucitating. All I could do is lay in bed because sitting, standing and walking was so painful. I had surgery a few times but in the end what fixed it was a simple nerve ablation that my doc didn't think would work. From the time I went into the hospital until the time I was back in the parking lot leaving was under 30 minutes, and 3 weeks later I went backpacking by myself. That was the summer I turned 40, so once realized I was actually okay, I decided to do a mile for every year old I was to get my confidence back and to do something for myself. Of the 42.5 miles I ended up doing, 31 of them were all by myself. I went back to college 7 months after that procedure and now we are here, almost 2 years from the day that I started back. I just realized something ironic that relates to Diana....the first class I had once I was back was good ol' college physics. Now I'm a tutor for that class. Wow. This is bringing back some memories and emotions for me right now! I sure hope we see Diana make a similar recovery and that it doesn't take 13 years like it did for me. @@danielkelsosmith
Yes. I had a torn sacroilliac joint and after multiple surgeries, dozens of doctors and other horrible experiences that I won't get into, a simple nerve ablation that took less than 5 minutes for the doctor to do was what fixed me. @@gurkdoinwork

Is it possible that Kyle is poisoning her to keep her in a debilitated state from which she cannot escape? How much can we really trust this Kyle character?
I had ME/CFS after covid. It hit 10 months post illness out of nowhere. I was terrified, confused, lost. Couldnt walk or stand, or talk. It was the worst thing that ever happened to me. Doctors couldnt help me and said it was anxiety. It wasnt. I went digging, found out REST, strict BED REST, was the only way to heal with brain retraining also. I did both and healed in 5months. It was so hard. But im back to normal 2 years later. I would have never made it without my husband. He took total care of me. ❤

Her plight really breaks my heart. She is one of my favorite UA-cam Science Communicators. Her enthusiasm and intelligence inspires me. I really hope she beats this.
You don't "beat" CFS, you learn to live with it. And sometimes you have a good day.
@@kinpandun2464, it may not be curable but there ARE treatments that help. Please don’t be so negative.
I hope her good days get better and more common. When someone has CFS this severe, it’s all I dare hope for.

Keep pushing Dianna and Kyle, you WILL get there.

15 years of pain? My guy what tf did you have
I tore my left sacroilliac joint when I was a firefighter.
