    He has the friendliest coyote eyes ive ever seen, if that makes sense. You can tell how a canine is thinking by their eyes, theres a "wild" look that you see in wild coyotes and especially wolves. When they get used to people, their eyes change, the look becomes calm, hope im not the only one that can see it.

    • @fletchqc9900
      @fletchqc9900 Рік тому +7

      Could be probably because of theis slow blinking. In many animal groups, slow blinking means that the animal is calm and doesn't want to fight you. The reason why is because closing their eyes for a long period of time is revealing a weakness, wild animals want to keep their eyes open in case an enemy would show up.

    • @barkbork7528
      @barkbork7528 Рік тому +6

      I think you're mistaking "alert" for "wild". A lot of animals will look alert at the sight of humans, which makes photos of them where they don't look alert exceptionally rare.

    So excited to see Dakota! When I was 8 years old my dad rescued a coyote pup so I grew up with her. When it was time to release her to the wild she wanted nothing to do with it. She lived with us 18 years and had quite an impact on me and the way I relate to wild things. Coyotes make friends, like cats, on their own terms. She was very high strung, as she got older she got so she would only come to mom to be petted after I moved out. But she was a great friend when I was young, she would try to get me to crawl in her dens with her. Pretty sure she's why I do well with wild and exotic animals, she brought me up right!

      I feed wild foxes and deer every night. They don't come near me and most of the time I don't even see them except sometimes I catch their eyes with the light from my torch so I know they are there and the food is always gone really fast.
      Update: they are now sitting in the same spot every night waiting to be fed, and are even coming to eat the food when I'm standing a few metres away. If I talk to them, like they even saying "hi" they back off.
      I wanted to try and help the little one get through the winter and live past 14 months which is the average age for a wild fox in the UK. They can live to 14 in more rural areas and 20+ years old in captivity.

      Dakota is one beautiful coyote. Was wondering if he needs his anal glands squeezed. My dog every so often needs hers squeezed. It would be hard to imagine Dakota being aggressive towards anybody or anything. He seems always so good humored. I grew up with a white Lab and he was always the most loyal baby I’d ever seen . Always wagging his tail and happy . Then one day the Culligan man gets bit. The mailman is growled at shortly after . I can’t believe Casper would ever do that . Then I watched him one day become aggressive with a delivery man and then from then on he changed from a roaming happy wondering neighborhood dog to strictly an indoor dog with me and walks on a leash . He was even happier being with me . But I understand now what your saying about Dakota. Casper was my big baby and Dakota is yours. He is a beautiful pup. You do an incredible job and you’ve sacrificed your life for these creatures in need . There is a place for you someday and you will be rewarded I’m pretty sure. I enjoy the video’s . I like Finnegin fox and all the animals. Stay safe... Paul, St Petersburg Florida

    Dakota doesn't allow anyone to change his water so he makes sure you're visiting him every single day. What a smart guy he is 😻❤🐺
    I met the same issue at my shelter with some cats who would only accept me for changing their food or cleaning their cages.
    So i had to be there everydays, or even had to foster the most demonstrative ones not to have complains with my volunteers and employees.
    And once at my home (or let's say once they'd have obtained what they were willing for) they'd never show any kind of agressity anymore.
    Even had a kitty girl who literally "refused" 3 adoptions + a foster home. People would love her beacause she was a very little adult cat who'd stay small all her life long.
    But she destroyed everything everywhere she got adopted. So she was returned to us the 4 times.
    She was also every days escaping from any cage or any enclosure she was placed in. Noone could catch her back until i would arrive and she'd run to me at the first call.
    After recuperating her from 4 homes and from all around the shelter everydays i finally brought her home.
    It took her 10 minutes to visit the whole place and get adjusted. After these ten minutes, she stepped next to me on the caoch purring as i never heard her doing since that day, and she spend the rest of her life at my side.
    Just to say that when an animal who struggled in his life is chooses you, it's often to offer some unconditional love.
    Dakota is just one of them. And you're the human he wants to be with for the rest of his life. So enjoy all this time you can share with him 😽

    Until recently was the human companion of a coydog, who kept me company for 12 years before leaving this earth. She was the best companion this old guy's ever had, so gentle, so smart, so loving. Dakota's attitude reminded me a lot of my dear Josie. I couldn't help but notice Dakota shared one trait I found so endearing about Josie: he doesn't seem to have that need to lick your face all over at every opportunity that he can. Josie would sniff my face but seldom lick, which allowed me to get closer to her as she was so snuggleable, I loved to bury my face in her thick neck fur. But as a guard dog she was totally worthless as she was always pretty timid around strangers unless accompanied by me. Another weird, endearing trait she had was the only time she ever barked was when she was expressing happiness, never in anger or aggressively. I sure do miss her and really enjoyed watching Dakota.

    I have no experience with Coyotes, but I got adopted by a family of Lynxes when I first came to New Zealand. They were great companions and kept my acreage pretty free of rodents and rabbits (a real problem here). What surprised me is that they acted just like bigger versions of house cats and got along famously with my bit ginger tom. And BOY could they purr! The older two are long gone, but the daughter still lives with her mate on my old property and she still recognizes me when I visit. Now, I have been adopted by a fox family and a solo raccoon, all of whom are very human-friendly. My shepherd/husky mix dog loves them and my squirrels, but my 18lb puss cat is less tolerant, especially of the raccoon, who is quite fond of cat food. And, no, I've never been bitten by the foxes, although the big male will nibble my fingers if he thinks there is a treat in it for him.

Not sure if he had seen humans before but he was alone, and I was on the beach behind my house fishing. I seen him scouting the area out, I had fish laid out ready to cook for lunch. After a while he got the nerve to come closer and I threw him a fish. While I ate mine, he took his a little bit away and lid down to eat it, casting glances over my way.

    Dakota imprinted on you....very noble.
    Strange you couldn't put a female in the area next to him but dogs don't always get along either so makes sense. He's definitely all love.

    Dakota is absolutely beautiful. He indeed received lot of love, you can easily tell that. I live out in a rural area near open cattle ranches, though it's nice to see the Coyotes in that setting, I do know the local ranchers keep a close eye on them in particular during the calving season. I know they are dispatched during that time of year, but on the flip side you cannot have them killing your calves either. The ranchers respect them, but have the need to control them too. Dakota, just understand you are a very lucky boy, and love your Mommy!

    Dude, having grown up in southern Alberta where coyotes are so abundant and subsequently universally hated for eating everybody’s pets and are hunted aggressively for being an inconvenience, I flipping love seeing them in situations where their normal social behaviours can be observed. Seeing their behaviour when they’re feeling secure is such a pure experience for me 😭 I love it, Dakota’s the cutest bb floofer boi

      I let my gsds kill a coyote trying to get into my livestock, feels bad I could let it go....

      @@anthonywills2691 maybe you should be taking better care of your pets like keeping them indoors instead of blaming a wild animal for behaving like a wild animal...

    Love this!! Also takes the fix and the hound to a different level. It's so sweet they came as a group to you. He's so happy! I'm in the air force at Edwards afb and it's in the desert and we love the coyotes! Lol we leave them alone they are protected they know that, they've never been an issue they even sing to "to the colors" "TAPS" and the national anthem" they are very patriotic 😆 I think they feel safe being around on base because they keep to themselves. We warn each other when many are around but they're more scared of us than we are of them. ❤️

      I don't think "domesticated" is the right term, but I do see your point. He's a wild animal that's been raised around humans. Clearly he has bonded and sees her as his "mate."

      I think you mean tamed rather than domesticated.
