That Carmine is one handsome feller, I've never seen a coyote that dark before, wow! And the fact that he seemed so friendly was unusual. Glad they're both living out their best lives!
I’ve seen dark coyotes like that in NE Ohio. It could be a regional variation. (I’ve also seen lighter colored ones ranging from silver-gray to tan to almost black)
@@jowo8034 Here in BC Canada they are all a mix of brown, gray. Since i live near the city the ones i see also look much more unhealthy and smaller. If i saw a coyote like that black one i would assume it was some one's pet for sure just because how nice its fur looks and how big it is.
Melanistic yote! So purdy
He’s a skin walker
Look up Coydog or Dogote, it is not unusual for Coyotes and domesticated dogs to breed successfully.
I live in desert SW and one day we found a pregnant wild "dog" in our backyard. It would never let us get close to her, and even after she dropped her litter, and was nursing them, would pace the yard and gives us scared side-eye anytime we went to check on them.
Eventually, she weaned them and jumped the wall, never to be seen again.
We kept the most friendly pup and found homes for the other 4
As our "dog" matured, he developed a bald spot on top of tail (violet gland) and is one of the smartest dogs I have had, even compared to a heeler/yellow dog that we used to have, who herded my children, much to their disdain
The sanctuary is definitely the safest and happiest place for him. He is way too friendly with humans to be safe in the wild, he may approach someone and they may shoot him thinking he's going to hurt them or their pet. Honestly, I think he may have been hand raised, he definitely seemed suspiciously fine with going through that dog door and just wandering around inside. At the sanctuary, he has a new mate and him being friendly with humans means he is safer to handle. A happy ending to a potentially very messy situation.
Actually, you may not believe me, but my friend, owns the zoo 😅
My sister knows his family well, their parents are such good people! :3
He may be a coy dog.
@@mothernature8893 actually even coy dogs can be quite skittish due to their wild instincts, this fellow was acting more friendly than plenty of stray dogs I've seen. He really just isn't afraid or uncomfortable around humans at all. It is genuinely quite unusual. Another comment mentioned the sanctuary dna tested him and he was pure coyote. Not sure of the validity, but an interesting thing to consider as well.
@@HelenMcCallister We have coyotes in our area of Central Ohio. In fact, they love to wander our suburban street in the winter, especially on trash night. This has been going on for about 15 years, and to the best of my knowledge, _nobody_ has reported a coyote behaving like this. They're still very shy of humans. When new people move onto the block, we make a point of warning them not to leave cats or dogs unattended, especially between dusk and dawn.
And you're right -- it borders on bizarre to find the DNA analysis showed him to be 100% coyote. I would have thought he was a coydog based on his behavior, as well as his coloring. All the coyotes I've seen around here have been sorta gray/brown, not dark brown or black, as this guy appears to be even in broad daylight. Our neighborhood coyotes aren't the only ones I've gotten to observe. I was a volunteer naturalist for over a dozen years. I logged the first sighting of a coyote in our park back in 1994. I'm sure of it, because when I (quietly) radioed back to the Nature Center, the Lead Naturalist said, "Okay, we've seen the tracks and the goslings and ducklings keep going missing, so we knew he was here." "Yeah, well, since it's soaking wet, I can tell you two things for certain: It's female, and she's a nursing mother." "... Ah. Well, this is gonna be interesting."
Yeah the way he acted in the cage just like a dog in a crate, I'd say he's been loved by humans in the past and maybe just set free. Honestly never seen a black coyote before, thought he was going to turn out to just be someone's weird dog.
What a polite, proper coyote! He did everything he could to make those dogs feel relaxed around him. I hope he continues to do well.
Of course he did. Him and his pack that's probably hiding, want to eat them!
You're an idiot. Plenty of foxes and coyotes who are friendly. Been watching them for 40 adult years
Both here in Pennsylvania and in Colorado they're well-fed they have plenty of Natural Resources in the woods here. They come to play. you live in a place with different circumstances. You can't judge all environments by yours
(Sorry I shouldn't have said you're an idiot. That was really rude)
@@kate1269don’t think so he seems somewhat domesticated
i can see why we tamed them, look at how cute he is when hes playing with that husky and golden!
We didn't tame/domesticate coyotes,
@@PandorasReachAM We did.

I've actually seen Carmine and Wilee at Yellow River. They love to howl at passing sirens. They're still living their best lives, thanks to these rescuers!
Thanks for letting us know. This was such a great story and could have ended so badly with the Coyote being hand raised so very used to going up to people. So happy to hear that both of them are doing well.
wow. Thanks for sharing
U didn't see those dogs u saw some dogs and now your lying on the internet stfu u truly don't know for sure if they are those dogs

what a great story. So glad to see him in the sanctuary instead of dumped out into the wilderness to fend for itself. Normally I wouldn't say that about a Coyote but this one seems to have been raised by humans somewhere. So calm, just like a normal dog. A good boy. Also glad the other one got a companion! I love dogs, this one had me halfway tearing up.
That’s why I can’t spend too much time on this channel! I start getting dehydrated 😅😅
Yeah, not only does he look like some level of hybrid, but he was going to scare a well meaning--or not--person and get hurt. Far to friendly
the coyote would be much happier being free in the wild than being trapped in a little cage with no stimulation for the rest of his life
Coyotes are easy to domesticate.

No, that is prison they have to be in nature
@@arnold3785they are there for a reason; they obviously can’t go back to nature.
@@travislubbeck316 what if he encounters people who react with fear? or dogs who are trained to attack? things won’t end up well for him then. being in the sanctuary is best for him.
@@travislubbeck316 it’s not prison. he has plenty to do, he is fed, he gets exercise and he has all the space he needs. he is cared for, he even has a mate!
@@timetobenotdo what do you mean??
At the end, he was just a wild pupperino
LOL
No. He's a coyote. A wild coyote.
Coyotes are known as pups in youth, and his behavior was more of a youthful coyote than one that is an adult. If you missed this then go back to non liberal 1st grade and start over. @Leomerya12
@Leomerya12 its crazy you can't tell what he meant lol. It really is.
The way he was so friendly and playful with dogs and so calm in the trap makes me suspect he’s been in a kennel before. He’s a handsome boy. Happy for him 😊
I think it's because he was alone, in a pack he would hunt them but alone he knows he won't stand a chance
@Mowdown coyotes don't typically hunt in packs. They usually hunt in pairs or alone, and dog aren't their preferred prey. They will eat small dogs, but they will only attack large dogs if they think they are a threat. Coyotes also don't lure dogs. If a dog follows a coyote to a den where there are pups, the coyote won't like the dog being near the pups and will likely attack the dog. They don't go out of their way to attack large dogs as it puts themselves in danger, however, small dogs can look like food to them.
Never seen a black coyote. He's definitely got some dog DNA mixed in.
@@Fawnfeatherz Coyotes absolutely move in family units, and depending on the prey that family unit will absolutely hunt as a pack. It's just that most of the time coyotes don't go for prey large enough to require the entire family.
@CognizantCheddar I'm not saying they never do. I'm saying it's not TYPICAL of most coyotes to do. Certain subspecies are more likely to exhibit pack hunting behavior, such as eastern coyotes, which are actually hybridized with wolves. Typically, coyotes do not hunt in packs, and in the scenario in the video, they wouldn't even be hunting the dog as it's not small enough to even be seen as prey. Coyote attacks on medium to large dogs are primarily territorial.
That female coyote was so jazzed to not be alone and have a coyote boyfriend, and he was happy he could bond with her. Awesome.
She was so thrilled to have a new friend!!
@@SandersWildlifeEven Coyotes are getting friendzoned.
It looks like a coy dog. Half coyote and half dog. Its body posture is that of a dog and coyotes aren't solid black.
Yeah so great they captured it and put it in prison for no good reason, people suck.

@@RyanDowning-c4hwell not all and that one seemed to like having a friend so many most live alone but not all and also all animals want love most just don’t know it till they experience it
I'm so glad Carmine found a forever home and companionship. It was obvious from the video of him playing and trying to make friends with dogs, that he was lonely and looking for a new pack.
I saw a coyote once in the parking lot at a former job; it was amazing. Never expected to see one close up. So cool.😊❤
Where I live, coyotes are a common sight along with skunks, racoons and opossums. There have been times where a coyote passes by me within three feet. They have never made an aggressive move towards me and seem as curious about me as I am about them. Still, I make sure my cats stay inside because they could get attacked if I don't
@@PaulaDautremont It's not common to see them where I live, so it was a treat. We have raccoons, possums, skunks and foxes come up on our porch because we care for stray and feral cats and they come for the water and food. We enjoy all the wild life.
Had a tom turkey and his harem of lady turkeys in our yard once, then they started down the sidewalk, him in front and the girls trailing after. Incredible thing to see and so funny.
@@PaulaDautremont❤
If you ever see one "playing" with your dog, they most likely aren't playing, the pack is close by and they're luring out their meal.
@@tlgmc1908 It was obvious from this vid that the coyote was playing not hunting. I know they are pack animals, but that wasn't the case here. This was an adolescent coyote looking for a new pack. He wasn't aggressive with the dogs in any way, simply curious and playful. Not an alpha at all.
I know that if you leave your cat or small dog outside at night, you might not get them back. Almost happened w/my cat Toby. Didn't know we had coyotes at the time. Had never heard them. Luckily Toby made it home, took him to the ER Vet and got him stitched up. No more outies at night after that. Toby was a rescued stray that we chipped and was an inside/outside cat that loved being out in nature, until nature said hello. Warned my new neighbor about the danger but he didn't care. Never liked that guy. Their cat came to our house a lot at night for food, water and shelter. She slept on my bed. Hello Smoky, wherever you are. You were loved. ❤😟🙏
Im glad he's and has a mate. The people he encountered were so kind .
This little guy's story brought tears to my eyes. I'm so glad he was not killed, but instead moved to a safe location where he has a friend and can thrive! ❤

A perfect example that not all people or animals are the same. Someone could have harmed him just because he is a coyote. They are so happy together and now they're safe and not alone. Thank you for this video! ❤️
That’s the most unique looking coyote I’ve seen. Coloring and head shape looked more like a wolf to me. I’m glad he got a happy ending.
Edit: his sanctuary tested his DNA and he is 100% coyote.
There are now specimens that are a mix between wolves and coyotes...a whole new species? Subspecies?
I read that coyotes across the nation are growing larger in size and adapting to human life closer to the likes of self-domesticated dogs now, because human overdevelopment has forced their development this way. It's made them bolder in attitude, but it's apparently affecting their appearance as well.
@@queenboudicca31 Just hybrids, not a species or subspecies.

Coyote-dog hybrids, or coydogs, are produced by crossing coyotes with dogs. Coyote-dog hybrids can occur in the wild, usually in areas where the coyote range is expanding and other coyotes are hard to find.@@MB-ll1ql
@@MB-ll1ql What is a coyote cross?
Coydog - Wikipedia
A coydog is a canid hybrid resulting from a mating between a male coyote and a female dog. Hybrids of both sexes are fertile and can be successfully bred through four generations. Similarly, a dogote is a hybrid with a dog father and a coyote mother.

Why they put a free animal in a prison
@@Willrocs It's not a prison. It's a sanctuary. Left on his own and approaching animals and people on the streets, chances are good he would scare somebody and get shot. He is SAFE now. Coyotes are native north american and sacred to native people. They should be protected.

Wow what a absolutely beautiful video ❤I started to cry when he was all alone by himself, and then he meets the Love of his Life and they get to live out their days together and that's when I bawled!! Why can't it always be like this
Why can't it always be like this? Because Eve was weak. Or Pandora. Or whichever mythology woman patriarchal religions want to pin the world's ills on. 😂
This is a very different coyote than I'm used to seeing. It's to calm. Living in the woods I see coyote quite often. Never saw one with that coloring either. I think it's been exposed to humans if not owned by one! I'm glad that the right people are able to care for it. It's a beautiful creature 😍 ❤️
pretty sure it's a coydog (coyote/dog hybrid)
the coloring could also be because of melanism, a rare mutation that can occur in coyotes and other animals !
@@TheAkwarium I agree, he's too calm and a bit bigger then a normal yote as well. Also has a forehead like a dog too.

cage trained too
coyotes do sometimes cross bread, and many have no fear of humans, the ones we have look around 50-60 lb and are not small.
@Blkjakk I Agreee
right
Neither. Coyotes are canids meaning they’re in the same family as dogs and wolves, but are different species. Dogs are more closely related to wolves than to coyotes

VERY unique coyote- & very beautiful people taking the time to find a safe place for this playful boy to thrive.Uplifting & heartfelt story, thank you!
Coyotes really do have a sweet and lovable side. All the nasty stuff you see is exactly what you could expect from your own precious pooch given a life in the wild. I love when these animals are given a chance like this, they really can be so unbelievably lovely.
So true
Tell that to my lil rescue Poodle mix Vee that was attacked in my backyard and my wallet for the emergency vet bill. Thankfully she is alive and well.
No, they aren't sweet and loveable they are wild predators. 🙄
Just remember those sweet animals are predators. They will play with even medium or large size pet dog and lure it back to the pack as food. Little dogs and cats are just grab and go. I have even seen a few news videos where a coyote ran up and tried to pull a baby right out of a stroller and one went right into a backyard family bbq and tried to drag off a toddler. So keep aware of predator side of cute stray or wild animals.
@@lf4061THANK YOU! Coyotes will pretend to be sweet and pretend to play with dogs so they can murder and eat them and lure them away. All these comments are concerning. If à coyote comes to your yard to play with your dogs, it was a PLANNED mission 😂 coyotes are clever

Wild aka happily fed by suburbia and plenty of spots to sleep safely. You would be surprised just how well they adapt to the human element. Currently there is a "wild" coyote that is roaming my children's school and playing with all the kids before school. You are amazing people!! Thank God he ended up in a neighborhood with people who cared enough to make sure he would continue to have a wonderful life. He is absolutely beautiful! I live in Arizona, and I've seen many coyotes, but I've never seen one this color. Just gorgeous. I hope that he and his new girl have a long happy life❤
Thank you kind people for your wonderful efforts.❤❤❤
Amazing. Thank you for saving animals in need
It’s so nice that people cared enough and didn’t hurt him and now he live good❤
Awesome story thank you for sharing. I love The dodo. Always respectful of animals. ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful dark coyote. Beautiful story. Thank you to all the rescuers. 💞💞
Love these happy endings. It's obvious that this Coyote was around humans and was let go and he wanted back. What a perfect match! Awesome and they were so happy! The fear over for the neighborhood. From the looks of it, it was not a threat! Good choices!
This was so beautiful to see! Thank you, Rescuers!!
Sweet thing. All it wanted was companionship and safety. So hard to watch dog owners be afraid of him. What a great creature.
Thank you so much for treating these animals like they deserve to be treated humanely with just as much a right to be here as anyone that has a problem with wildlife
thanks to all wonderful animal rescuers!
Because he was so tame, my guess is that he was hand raised and someone released or dumped him. I'm glad that he has a nice home now.
A Love Story in the Wild!!! 🐺❤️🐺
Thank you for such a feel-good story. Hoping they have a long and fruitful life together.
Thank you so much for taking this beautiful coyote to a safe place! Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there that wouldn’t think twice about killing this poor guy. But now, thank God, he is safe and has a mate! That’s all that matters!🙏❤️
OH, bless them! I am glad that he will live at the sanctuary. I was worried about him being released into the wild.
