      Go on" NOOKAZON" its amazon for ACNH. People pay 100k a nookmile ticket (dont know how that price equals out lol but thats just the market) so if you have 10 NMT that equals 1 Million bell.

      I had a revelation the other day regarding this! I had Poppy on my island and one day she said she wanted to move on and I said it was ok. I didn't think I'd feel so miserable after that but when I saw her photo my heart stung. Yes, she gave me her photograph and I let her leave! Anyway, I bought an Amiibo to get her to come back. Yesterday I went on a villagerhunt and low and behold on my second island there she was.. and now she is home again

    My favourite thing to do on this game is just sit in the butterfly enclosure room. I could sit there for ages. It's the perfect encapsulation of the game for me. That serenity, calm and pretty environment (which makes New Horizon so inviting in the first place) is all there. AC has a very relaxed pace so everything works in accordance to it. At the end of the day, the game is designed for your escapism so do whatever you want. As such, I could watch / listen to these regardless of what's happening on screen - we come here to listen to you, even if it is in the background for some, so as long as your happy doing whatever it is you want to do, we'll spend the time listening regardless.

    What keeps me coming back is definitely me not time traveling. I dont have all my dream villagers. In fact i only have 2 of mine so not time traveling will definitely make it last at least months from now until i feel even remotely burnt out. As well as my island still being 4 stars. This game is my escape from everyday life and that keeps me coming back. I do not time travel and I do not have all the things (no shade to those folks that do). I like seeing what I get each day (DIY, presents from villagers, balloons, etc.) and I try to think of ways to incorporate those new things into my island. For example, today I got a rattan low table for the first time. I redid the outside of Wendy's house to incorporate the rattan items that I have and it looks great. I like to fish, catch bugs, dig up fossils, meet with whoever is at my island that day and just overall play the game. I purposefully left a few untouched small spaces on my island for when I get inspired to create something new. The game is not a race and I think some players took it to be that. I love it and will keep playing for a long time.

  • @carolinemills1526

    I have been playing every day since release with no burnout because with playing previous AC games, I knew not to rush the game or time travel. Everyone gets heated about time travel, and everyone should play as they wish, but we are simply trying to warn them of the inevitable that they will quit the game in a couple of months. There is no end goal of a perfect little island inhabited by the most popular villagers, the game is about the journey not the destination. These are things to keep motivating you to make little changes at a time. If you make the perfect island within 2 months and then discover there is a new update that means you have to completely reorganise your island, its going to make you incredibly frustrated that all those hours and hard work were for nothing. This is why I love the 1 per day limits for bridges and inclines and building moves. I think people who are burned out completely misinterpret what AC is all about.

      @@ingridguevara7185 for me it's the same, I'm currently around 300 hours and I also only time travel in the month I am and I am not bored at all. If I have my island "finished" I'm probably destroying everything and starting over again. There are people out there that play this game for other reasons and for me, time traveling is a good way to play this game. Everyone has different preferences and not everyone gets burned out from tt.

    Hey man, yea I totally get. I have played this game religiously, almost every day, since release. Seems that there was so much to do! But after seeing all these amazing islands on UA-cam, FB and Reddit I suddenly became obsessed with the look and appeal of my island. The game slowly devolved from being a relaxing pastime to a stressful grind for DIYs and furniture. Realizing this, I decided to take a break for a few days... and it definitely helped. I went back into the game recently and decided to play the game for what it is... a relaxing escape from current state of the world. Happy to say that it’s reignited my passion for the game. I no longer worry about comparing my island or racing to get 5 stars/villagers. I’m just taking it easy and slowly building the island as I go while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere, likely what the creators of the game intended :)

    • @ryanftw_
      @ryanftw_  4 роки тому +4

      Couldn't agree more even if I wanted to. The game devolving into a decorating competition is definitely a branch where people can easily get the essence of the game wrong. The notion to "finish" this game is one I can definitely understand, but don't really get. When people play games that have an actual ending, they sometimes have the sentiment of "I wish it wasn't ending" so that they can continue to escape into the world of that game. It's unfortunate that for some reason AC doesn't evoke that same emotion for a lot of people :(

    • @ChillplayVibes
      @ChillplayVibes 4 роки тому +1

      RyanFTW Unfortunately, it’s always gotta be a competition with some people. Since this game hit the mainstream spotlight I think it brought with it the hardcore gamers.
      But I think that’s why your channel is so appealing to a lot of people, myself included. You just take it day by day, no TT, no racing. Just basking in the laid back nature of the game. Haha. You kinda inspired me to document my own island building journey on UA-cam :) It helps a lot as it makes me focus on building my island on my own time and pace.

    I’m starting to get burnout even though my island isn’t even 4 stars yet. Every time I start terraforming I’m unhappy with how it looks and end up knocking everything down. I just feel like every island I see online is so much better than mine so I just give up and don’t do anything to it 😞

    • @tyneuku3673
      @tyneuku3673 4 роки тому +13

      Leave the terraforming up and add flowers/items to decorate it, the islands you see online have stuff all over so you don't see the bare land that your looking at

    • @ryanftw_
      @ryanftw_  4 роки тому +36

      Other than general 5 star island YT videos, I think most people would agree their island doesn't feel that "awesome" and everyone else's island is better than theirs. Heck, I feel this way about some 3 star islands I've been too haha but it's important to enjoy the process. Not every idea is a winner, and that's okay, but you can certainly find a win in every idea even if it doesn't turn out the way you thought. The game still has limitations after all; there are just some people who were able to work those limitations into something great. I'm sure you can do the same, even if it means taking a step back and coming back to it later 🙂

      I just take one small project a day. A little cafe or a pond for my villagers. It will never be even close to perfect but I like the little changes I make every day. One day I will have it to where I like it and if it never hits 5 stars I am ok with that.

      It’s probably going to sound repetitive, but go with your gut. Comparing your island with others will do nothing good for you. You paid for the game and should do what feels good! You don’t need to have massive terraformed areas or a hugely decorated island! Do what you want... you don’t even have to have decorating your island as your main project, talking to villagers and catching bugs can be what you want to do instead! Please enjoy the game however you like!!!

    • @justauryon
      @justauryon 4 роки тому +1

      I used to feel this way for LONG time, despite having the game since launch. One person had suggested just decorating one small area at a time - that helped a LOT, as well as browsing Nookazon and Nook Exchange for items/furniture/DIYs. A week or 2 later, I found myself with some nicely decorated areas that I was happy with and got more ideas as time passed. It's easier to do small parts of an island vs trying to redo everything at once. Hope that helps!

    What I love about the game is enjoying the little moments like seeing the sunrise, or hopping in to hear my favorite hour music.
    I usually play like 2 times a day (each time like 1 hour or so). The first half I shake all my trees and buy stuff that I like as well as sell a bunch of stuff that i just accumulated in my storage. That as well as I see which present do I wanna gift to my villagers (depending of what they like or what I think they would enjoy)
    The second half I dig every fossil, and water my flowers.
    All of these while I catch or fish everything I see and If I feel inspired in doing something like arranging stuff in my house or in the island then I do that as well.
    I'm still relatively new, I've had this game for a month and a half, so this is coming from a new player perspective (this is also my first AC game)

    I have around 205 hours of ACNH. My island has reached 5 stars, all though there's still 10-12 days of building for my island to be 100% the way i want it to be. For now, this has kept me motivated to keep going. Once that's over, there's so much stuff to do. I have a list of dream villagers that i want (And right now, i only have 1 out of 10.), i want to complete the museum, i want to complete all the Nook Miles+ app and have all the stamps.
    All of that without time travel. I know that eventually i'll be logging daily and playing for 30 minutes or so just to clean the island and catch the monthly fish and bugs, but still.

  • @shoang1923
    @shoang1923 4 роки тому +6

    What keeps me wanting to come back is giving myself a time limit whenever I get on. That way when I save and exit the game, it's not because I've "run out" of things to do, it's simply because my time is up.
    That being said, my favorite part about this game is the fact that you can make it whatever you want it to be. Some days I might want to terraform or redecorate a whole area, other days I just want to fish or catch bugs, or sell stuff, or move flowers around.
    Also I don't time travel.

    When I started the game I also felt like I HAD to hurry because I saw how far some people were compared to me. But I realized that, I’m not that type of player, I like to collect everything, I like to finish things to completion. So I enjoy taking my time now and slowly working on the NM goals. If I ever feel lull I also love to visit other people’s islands. I will ask if I can visit to water flowers or visit shops. Currently I’m working on flower breeding and moving houses so that’s keeping me motivated! Great videos!

  • @MockingJay61899

    I got into the game about a month into release and personally I think he main motivation to keep me going is that 1: my island isn't done yet and 2: I've not been afraid to change up things in my island even though I might have done it last week. Personally, I've seen a lot of people get burnt out because they get their island perfect then never change it up. I think that the game isn't about "completion" of collections and islands but about working everyday and evolving with your tastes to keep you busy.

    What keeps me motivated is my anxiety. I've been out of work since March 13th, and I work for a museum, so I have zero idea when I'll be back to work. I use AC to help keep my anxiety about everything terrible happening in this world, at bay. And when I'm not playing, I watch videos like yours. I feel motivated to play every day, do my daily tasks, become friends with my villagers etc. My island isn’t 100% done yet, I’ve only scraped the surface of flower breeding, and I haven’t even touched the stalk market yet! I played New Leaf for over a year straight, and I will probably do the same with this one. I don't time travel and haven't even done any real terraforming on this one, but every day holds some little reward for me. Summer is underway and I'm looking forward to autumn with the new surprises that will bring. Some days are half hour days and others I go for hours and I never know until I log on which it will be! I love my villagers (all humble, no 'popular' ones) and it's sad when one leaves. This little island of mine is like a daily soap opera in a way, and the little dramas and events give me all the game play I need. All that said, my one disclaimer is that I'm 63, so I don't need the big explosions or dragon slaying that younger people seem to like in their games. Play on!

    not ashamed to say that I am a 500 hour island, with not one ounce of time traveling. no shame in that number, because I know I play a lot. I enjoy it. Animal crossing keeps me happy, so why would I give myself a hard time on playing a game that keeps me happy? My island is nowhere near being ‘done’ but once it is, I know I’ll slow down my play time. Most of that 500 hour time is spent visiting people’s islands, and trading with other players just for fun. I didn’t focus on decorating anything really at all until a few weeks ago, but now decorating is so fun for me! I see no burnout near, I still love this game and can imagine myself with 1000+ hours before i’m finished with this game.

    It's been a month and a half since I started and I don't feel like burning out anytime soon. It's been nice to just talk to my villagers, catch bugs, fish, water my flowers, decorate a small part of my island each day. Takes my mind off of school and work. Put 900 hours in anything in 3 months you'll get burned out. Just take it slow and relax.

    I have 130 hrs and still have ways to go with my island development, but I really just enjoy the peacefulness of the game overall. Being able to design your island and house however you want to provides a good outlet from everything going on in the world, and it's done a great job of keeping me busy during the pandemic so far

    If I’m not feeling inspired to play the game but want to play the game (if that makes sense) I’m honestly happy to just follow different villagers around and watch what they do. This game is so cute and detailed. Some of the things they talk about to each other are hilarious. Then later on, sometimes I switch it off and other times I get inspired to do something. This game is really at your pace and I love it for that.

    I don't time travel, so there is always little things to do each day. I just got the bookcase DIY, so I need to order 5 books from nook shopping that won't arrive till tomorrow. There is always something around each corner. Seeing the island as a work in progress helps me from getting bored.

    I just found your channel and honestly, as someone who has been playing AC fairly steadily since Wild World, I can tell you part of the reason I play it is because it offers that 'relaxing' vibe. I can go in, tend to my flowers, catch fish, etc. It's just relaxing in general. I also play WoW/FFXIV/Pokemon/Overwatch etc and it's a VERY nice break from the fairly toxic communities you can wind up in if you aren't careful.

    I feel the exact same way! I have played ACNH every day since the game came out and it's been awesome. I don't time travel either because I don't want to "beat" the game immediately. I feel like the game is all about the journey, not some competition. If there's nothing else to do in the game that day, I still find myself catching bugs/fish, interacting with villagers, and collecting resources. It's a very relaxing game, especially during these times

Before I hate hated my island, It felt small and boring, I was excited to get to this amazing island but it was never the island of my dreams. On my new island I stopped worrying about stars, or whatever else I felt pressure to do. It’s super fun now! I do whatever I want at my own pace. It gave me motivation again because everything was new again, and I had a chance to move along at my own pace and create new things that I had wanted to do but never did on my old island.

    I have played every day since the beginning and I'm not the least bit bored. I didn't rush the experience, I took my time. I was inspired by other's islands but never judged my island based upon other's islands (I did make lots of changes until I was happy with mine, though). I love the small things like the sunrise/sunset, the music, talking to my villagers, and feeling productive at 5am like you. I stay motivated by giving myself tasks to do, such as I started a hotel, and it gives me something to keep focus on. I am also a completionist so I want to collect everything but I'm in no rush to do it now...I have plenty of time. And I switch it up, I play other games too. Lastly, I've met wonderful people through this game and I appreciate that so much.

    I recently started to terraform some more of my island, I'm very inspired by cottagecore/fairycore/witchy/foresty island tours! So I'm trying to work on that at the moment. I don't feel as excited when turning on the game as I did when I first got it - I think it's in need of a big update very soon. I thought some of the recent events, the maze in May and museum stamps were very underwhelming and kinda pointless. I didn't bother with the wedding event to start with, but found out that you get a load of new furniture, so only started that yesterday. I do find that I can spend a good few hours playing it still, but there are some features I don't really bother with like using nook mile tickets to visit other islands, or even gathering nook miles from the machine in the town hall. I also hope they add some UI features to make the crafting and clothes shopping process a bit smoother, in the new update.

    I've started to feel this way, too. I've noticed there were areas of the beach I hadn't bothered with, so I'm taking my time, working on those, checking the shops, and gifting items/talking to villagers, as well as looking for NPCs. Other than that, I've gotten another game in the meantime and will come back to ACNH at different times of day. I feel like making a TON of bells from the stalk market and decorating my island has sort of "completed" it for me, sadly... but now I'm just playing a bit here and there. (Aside from waiting for villagers I'm not crazy about, to move out.)

    I’ve taken about a month off because I was burnt out. My cousin who is actively still playing sent me a pic on IG of an island and I was like “that looks amazing” and tried to recreate it. I decided to boot the game up and I recreated the scene, and it didn’t really fit the rest of my island so I redid my whole island. Tore up every road, destroyed every bridge and incline, and starting fresh. Been playing for two weeks just moving things and placing new roads and such now.

    Your talk about why you play this game and don’t get burnt out is awesome! Gaming should NOT so much be about accomplishments or competition. Gaming is about actually ENJOYING the game you are playing. I totally agree in regards to this game. It’s easy to start thinking that you might need to be at a certain point by a certain time; but if you’re genuinely enjoying your time playing it, then it will not matter where you are at in your playthrough. Play games because they’re fun, not a to-do list. :)

    Animal crossing to me is basically one of the best games I've ever played. But a problem that I think will never clear up is burnout and boredom. It comes to a point where you just say "now what." I am still developing the island slowly and trying to get 5 stars, but then what? I think a really awesome thing that they could do is give the ability to have multiple islands. Whether it's all within the same world where your character has multiple islands, or you create new characters for each island, it would allow you to work on multiple islands and have a lot less burnout. Also the way I play is that I don't structure it. I love structured islands and I think they are amazing but I just go with the flow. If you restart it might be something to try. Just unstructured. I don't move buildings I just keep going.

    I am the type of person to play the same animal crossing game for years at a time because I typically only play for 30 minutes to an hour a day. I noticed with a lot of my friends on switch they have played it an extensive more amount of time than I have which means they’re most likely time traveling which I do not do. At first I got insecure thinking I’m not the biggest Animal Crossing fan because I’m not playing as much as they are when the truth is I know they’re going to end up burning themselves out and just quit playing the game opposed to I’m going to be playing it for years to come. I never understood time traveling it takes all the fun out of it

So I decided to slow down with designing my island, and I’m about a 1/3 of the way done at 3 stars. I also decided not to pay off the last loan, I’m going to wait until I’m happy with the way my island looks, and get rid of all my bells. I’ve played every day since the beginning of April. I do actually tt so I’d be prone to burnout, but I often tt to stay on the same day/hour for a long time. I like playing for different reasons everyday but I basically view my island as ever changing/always improving. It was as close to complete as it could be a couple weeks ago, and I took a few days off to celebrate my birthday and go camping but decided to change up my villagers and layout a couple days ago so now I’m focusing on that. Sometimes I play for an hour, sometimes I play for a couple hours, and the minute I don’t feel like playing I put down the game. Sometimes I’ll play passively while listening to podcasts or rewatching something on Netflix. For me it is a relaxing thing, and I like constantly changing and improving the island.
