I owned a mk 1 Lotus cortina,, same as the one in this video, but mine was a rally car,,,,,,I sold it years ago and Ive been told it appeared in a classic car magazine a few years ago I wished I still had it,,,worth a fortune now
Wow, what a beauty. If it was mine I wouldn't loose a minute sleep either if it didn't sell. I was born in the 60's and there was simply nothing around like them then and Ford's collaboration with F1 Lotus team owner, Colin Chapman made these cars forever collectable.
It's a car I always lusted after. When I started work in the mid 60's as an apprentice panel beater, we used to maintain a Mk1Lotus Cortina. It was campaigned by Robin Pettigrew and Leon Ayland and was forever in the body shop being repaired/repainted. Until it was written off in a catastrophic accident, from memory during an event in the Forest of Dean. Now in my mid seventies the dream of ever owning one is no longer going to happen. Good luck with the sale Dave but if it doesn't sell, I certainly agree don't lose any sleep.
Probably one of the best LCs I have seen, not to sure about using it on some Targa Events as they can be a bit rough. Can you show some pictures of your Mk2.
The 2 owners of the garage opposite my parents had a Mk 1 Lotus Cortina each back in 1979. They've long retired and one moved to Australia. Lovely guys. Not sure what happened to the cars.
If it belongs to a Mathewson family member it will be full market price and probably more, they don't sell anything competitively except other peoples cars.........
I think that's the most emotional car review I've ever seen. Dave obviously loves that car!
An excellent Lotus Cortina. FIA papers, full history, role cage. A great car.

That car puts a smile on your face like no other car you've talked about.

What an awesome car.
Lovely lotus cortina just can’t beat the sound of it when it’s started up.
Sounds lovely 👌

Thats sweet dave my mate dave mayo would love that dave reall car mate
It must be difficult to let a car like this go. I associate these lotus cortinas with Scotlands greatest ever driver, the flying fifer,Jim Clark.
Lot's of personal cars being sold this month from Derek, Dave & Jack... is this a sign of the decline in ridiculous prices?
Sweat car .👌🏼
Turn the heater down then ?
Lush 🙏
Car markets are down badly so now is the time to snap up a real nice bargain and this one is a stunner

You can’t keep ‘em all, but you can keep one.
Great car what is the reserve price please. Worth every penny.
Be nice if the camera man showed the car!
20per cent drop good car
Dave don’t!! You will regret it mate! Sleep on it. Mothball it an till you are sure.😊😊
Would buy the Range Rover behind him
Hey lads did this sale can’t find it on the website cheers
I bet young Jack is hoping it doesn't sell he seems to have a big soft spot for that car as well, and who blames them.
Wait until you're 80 then your have the time
I had one not as good as that though 👍
SAS used Mk I's in the 60's so they must have been good.
And the cat's and the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
In the thumbnail the guy with the camera has had his head cut off!
Where do you start 200,000 pounds,400,000 pounds?
Only if Jim Clark campaigned it.
How much ?
Prefer a standard car lots more character.
You must vvvvvvvvvvvv short money 😢😢 😢
The dash does not look original. I had one an ex works car and it did not look like that dash.
It is original I had the same car
Because they don’t know squat about engines
