Good grief Michael, you don't hang around. A 12ft bridge build and install, redoing the greenery ballast and all up and running. Fantastic and looks brilliant especially with the long rake train. Well done All the best Peter
Hello again Peter. Yep, soon has I buy anything for the layout I'm straight onto it, that's why most of the railway was built in 4 years. The bridge is 1 inch short of 13ft. All the best. Mick
Wow! Thats one mega looking structure. Reminds me of the forth bridge. Very envious of the size of your layout, id love a run on something like that one day, bet you get lots of people asking. All the best Eric
That is most impressive Mick. What a beautiful bridge kit and what an undertaking to remove and replace such a large feature on the layout. I really enjoyed watching that. Thank you, David.
Hello David. Yes I had to give this a lot of thought before attempting this but glad I have done it. Really sets the layout off. Thanks for the comment, hope your keeping well. All the best. Mick
Wow, The front view is powerful. l love it. You have very huge layout. I envy you. Thanks for sharing ! I could enjoy your video. I'm looking forward to watching your video next time.
Would just like to say “After all you’ve been through Mick it’s nice to see you looking so fit and well” I was getting a bit worried at one point! But moving on video 90 the bridge build was brilliant
Love the updated bridge scenery. A little bit of weathering would really bring it to life s bit more, though this could be done over time. The bridge is impressive! 👍
This is the first-ever video of yours ive seen and your layout is amazing, love the new bridge. I guess you have not been well. Hope you are feeling a lot better now. Last bank holiday Monday i had a heart attack and was taken into hospital. I feel a bit better now but your railway has really cheered me up. I am 66 now and spent most of my working life on the railways. I shall be watching your next video. Well done, keep safe.
First Martin I'm glad you found my channel. I have not been well but I am ok now, but it sounds like you have been worst then me. Hope your recovering now and feeling better to watch the other 89 video's. Take care, till next time. Mick
Absolutely cracking job it looks fantastic. With the proximity of the tunnels you could shoot "Von Micks' Express" lol It would be pretty cool though if you did.
Very good Eric ,, such awesome modelling on your part and I can only aspire to only a tenth of what you have going on there I will be a very happy man. Cheers from John in Australia.
Hi mick excellent bridge looks the business maybe film a steam loco going over the bridge am going all mine at the moment doing bits by bits can't wait to run a a loco on the layout but am not rushing it taking my time great video though Mick keep up the great work cheers Paul
Hi Mick, the bridge looks superb as does the new grass etc. Don't suppose you took any footage of your track laying and ballasting because what you've created there looks as good as I've seen anywhere. Absolutely fantastic and not surprisingly, the trains run extremely smoothly. A great video, I really enjoyed it, thanks for posting for us all to see. Take care, Ian
No Ian. Thanks for the comment, glad you like it. I ballast the normal way diluted PVA then run over it with a pastry brush to give the edging. All the best. Mick
They do. I love the way the new bridge has new shiny ballast. It feels like it ought to have a 20 mph speed limit for a week while the loose chippings get sorted out, ha. A wonderful colour contrast with the adjacent tracks.
Hi Mick, hope you’re well, wow that’s some bridge, a great structure, imagine in O gauge haha, great video and congratulations on the views too, quality as ever, regards mark ,
Hi Mick, wow that's excellent, I like that it really compliments the amazing viaduct. Congratulations on reaching half million views and four thousand two hundred subscribers. You certainly deserve it with all hard work and no doubt considerable expense you have gone to in order to entertain us all in UA-cam land. Fair play to you... Mick, can you tell me what year and month your layout was in either Railway Modeller or Hornby Magazine.? I've got both Railway Modeller and Hornby Mags for last Five years. Wanted to look up Lakeside and forgot which and when it was in. Cheers, All the best take care.
Mick the new bridge is brilliant I do love the shot through the bridge and it will make for some great running footage . Also nice work on the scenic revamp too. As always great entertainment. Are you looking to go to GETS at Milton Keynes in October ? Cheers Kev
Well Michael all I can say is what a fantastic video and a full insight into your engineering skills just brilliant...I reckon Isambard Brunel would have struggled to do better ..full credit to a grand job🏅excellent..rgds Chris
Great video again mick. Loved the new bridge, look quite impressive. I was thinking for another upgrade is the 4 track tunnel after the bridge, could it be made to look like linslade tunnel with 4 individual boars or perhaps 2 singles and a double middle tunnel?
Hello Colin nice to hear from you and thanks for taking the time to comment. I will take your suggestion on and google Linslade tunnel keep watching. Hope the family is well. Take care. Mick
Hello again. I use a GOPRO camera session, it's the black cube type 36mm square. No longer available to buy. That sit's on a flat wagon pushed around by a loco. The camera is remote controlled. Mick
Wow Mick that is some bridge, great upgrade. Looks like you have been very busy, all that work looks well worth it. What's that saying about `grass greener on the other side` grass and tree area spot on also. Enjoyed the running shots of the Pullman, may I ask what fluid do you use in your track cleaner. Many thanks for sharing looking forward to your next video, please take care and stay safe..
I had to wait for the bridge and the grass mats to arrive plus drying time for the paint. So all done in about 5 days. Thank you for the comment. All the best. Mick
Hi glad you like it. I used ply wood for the sides marking out the arches. to join the arches I used blocks of timber to screw them together. The form the arches underneath I used bolster wood. Then whole lot was covered in Dass clay, scribed and painted. I hope this was useful. Take care. Mick.
Right, as i aways say anyone can do what they want with their layout, we all have opinions and different ideas and skills, i liked the old bridges personally, the new bridge looks too wooden for me, too flat no enough detail for such a large span (12ft) but as long as you are happy thats all that counts, a nice layout well done, right!
Well Thanks Desmond I agree with where your coming from. I had had enough of the old bridge and needed to a revamp. Thanks for watching and the comment. Take care. Mick
Hi mick shame bridge to bright needs colour not so bright , like the other blue one very real looking ,like some thing from usa on metro in New York that's my thinking otherwise layout lovely kev philipines

Great bridge, it is in-keeping with the area. Just one thing, it looks just a little too red. I would weather it a little. But great all the same.
