Try Foxy!! I’m sure they would be able to help with the police signs on the police motorcycles!!
Thanks, but Foxy who?
Doing the catenary on a layout can become VERY expensive!! My layout is of a railway that runs the three rail system, with a third rail bringing the electricity to the trains!!
Tell me about it. Will let you know at some point the cost. Mick.
Your right there. Will let you know the cost when finished.Mick.
The show at the NEC was last week!! This is the Saturday AFTER the show!!
I know sorry. Got the video out late.Mick.
You’re obviously doing a modern image layout. Mine’s a small Victorian railway with three stations, although I’m only modelling one of them!!
Okay. Look forward to seeing it. Thanks for the comment. Mick.
Mine is being laid out with 00 track, but the trains will be NG7!! This is a narrow gauge line that runs between the promenade and the beach. I know it so well because I use it daily when I go to stay in the flat in the Marina.
Will you show it on You tube when it's completed. Thanks for watching. Mick
My layout is much less bulky to carry, and will depict the Volk’s Electric Railway that runs along the seafront in Brighton.
You wouldn't even lift mine and I have no intention of doing so. Will you be showing it.Thanks for the comment. Mick.
More fantastic additions and a serious investment of money and time. Take a bow👏
Thanks very much for the comment. Keep watching. All the best. Mick
Always enjoy watching the updates, only just restarting my 00 gauge layout and trying to document on you tube. feel free to have a watch/subscribe. always open to suggestions
Well thank you for watching. Hope I have given you some ideas. All the best. Mick.
Really like the new lights at stations , glad you decided to paint them , the galvanised look on todays railways are cost efficient but for the quaint look youve nailed it with modern raikways blended superbly ,seeing the lights on a scene in close encounters of the third kind , his name ironically was roy and had lights under the lakes , havent seen a night scene on any other model railway until now , the platform looks even more realistic , good solution with the size proportions with the bridge to overhead gantry , the magnetic system could bring the maglev soon , positively. Thanks for the time taken and sharing , Thumbs up mick 👍
Thank you very much for a great comment, much appreciated. Thanks for your support. Take care. Mick.
@michaelsmith-hn1cn the other Roy was record breakers your layout would've made the show and on " track" for a record breakers contender .
@@theterminator3779 Thanks for saying. Glad you like the layout. All the best. Mick.
Hi Mick, lot of work going on well done great layout, all the best. TONY [ GRIFFIN STATION ].
Thanks Tony for the comment, much appreciated. Mick
Just brilliant, i need you in my loft !!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and the comment ? X Mick.
Been wondering where you have been and the wait was worth it. Impressive catenary and lightning through station, but cleaning track will be difficult? Bill.
Thank you for your continued support. It has been along time but I'm pleased you like the up dates. Cleaning, I use the CMX cleaner which does a good job. All the best.Mick
I really hate to point out but the registration arms on the catenary needs to be reversed for every other one. This is what achieves the zig zag on the prototype, sorry to point this out but it does spoil such great work
I'm gutted you have told me this but glad you have. I thought it didn't matter which way they went. I will try to rectify if I can. Thanks for taking the time to view and your comment. All the best. Mick.
@@michaelsmith-hn1cn Easy mistake to make, but if you can correct it, the catenary should stay tighter. You can fix them the same way on curved track, try to have the arms pulling the wire towards the outside of the curve. That then holds the wires where you want them. Try to incorporate an expansion joint somewhere in the middle of a long run, you'll be surprised how the temperature range in a loft can play havoc with the wires. I'm afraid I, too, have an improvement to suggest, remove the two water cranes at 38:30 before any sparks fly! But still, great to see someone having so much fun with his layout, some people seem to forget that enjoyment is what it's all about.
@@oldandgrey495 Looks like I can't remove the arms from the gantry. I used Araldite, did't want them to come off. The wires are held in place with small magnets which is what keeps them tight. The loft is more of a room with no draft and also no heaters required rather than a loft full of beams and gaps. Good point about the cranes, I have already remover the signal a lamp and trunking. All good fun. Thanks for your reply and tips. Mick.
hi are you going all the way round with the new cantenary
Hi Simon. Yes I will do the complete 103ft of it, so please keep watching. Take care. Mick.
@@michaelsmith-hn1cn are you stil going to do that extension
@@simondimps1002 No Simon. Got to expensive. Thanks for asking. Mick.
-great update on layout looks great keep up the great vid on layout it coming to life layout is never was add to it thanks lee
Hi Lee. Thanks for watching and the comment.Mick.
Great job on the masts, as you said, fitting masts will always require some modification to fit each and every section. Yes it is expensive, but looks good. We have these masts on the midland mainline near me. Ive enjoyed this instructional style video
Thank you very much for your comment and taking the time to watch. All the best. Mick.
Nice work Mick, really like the building site. Deano
Thanks Deano for watching and your comment. Take care.Mick.
Mick lovely job on all those projects every thing looks great well done 🥃
A big thank you. Much appreciated. All the best. Mick
Hi mick, wow missed you’re videos, hope you & family are well, what awesome update, station lights look great, catenary looks fantastic the detail looks incredible but bank balance not sure much 😂 40 37s wow unreal, the 90 looks amazing especially with efe rail car at the back, I’ve also bought some O gauge figure from scale3d there are too very good detail, climate hero looks wicked to with the lowmacs am off to Hamburg also for miniature wonderland well in couple of years, we’ll see you in the next video, as not going to NEC but take care chap 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hello again Mark, nice to hear from you. Wife and me are good thanks hope the same with you. Will take time to complete. I think a few hundred and more by the time I finish. Purchased more at the weekend from WestHill so will carry on. It does set it off so pleased with it. If when you go to wunderland you need all day. We went in at 8am and came out 7 30pm. They do stay open some nights till midnight. Thanks for the continued support. Take care, till next time. Mick
@ glad all is well, yes all good here too, I ripped up the O gauge and going to start a new layout this week, Ohhh wow a long day then, can’t wait to go in time take care 🎉🎉🎉
@@marksingleton5176 Look forward to seeing the new one. All the best. Mick.
Looks really good, I've contacted the Vatican as you must have the patience of a saint to do all that, I'm not sure if the Pope will visit in person.
Love it LOL. Mark appreciate the comment and your sense of humour, could not stop laughing.Take care. Mick
The corner with the building site... a lot of good work went into this, nice one. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching and your comment. All the best. Mick
The new platform lights are super. Really look the part. I think there is too much clutter at the end of the platform. By removing the water columns it will look a lot cleaner . Regards John
Thanks John for your constructed comment, will take that on board. Watch this space. All the best. mick
Really enjoyed your catenary work. Easy to follow for anyone wanting to add that feature to their set up. I am third rail, but haven’t started to add it yet. I have seen the way to do it prototypically at Kernow web site, plus my remembrance of when I lived in the old Southern Region area. I am 12,000 miles from there now though!
Well thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I take you may be down under. All the best. Mick
you have done a fantastic job, love the loco cam.
Thank you very much for watching. All the best.Mick
Hi Mick, It was great seeing you again at GETS. I love the new platform lights, a very nice touch. Your Accurascale points were a good deal, I wonder how many others had that number of points. I don't like overhead wires in real life but WWW have done an incredible job of recreating the masts and yours is the layout to showcase them. Altogether another great update from you. All the best, David.
Thanks Dave, nice surprise seeing you to. I have had many comments asking if I were going to put over head wires up. Has I have a few electrics I thought give it ago. A costly update but I think it will be worth it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Hope you and family all well. Take care buddy. Mick and Shirley.
Hi, great video catch up of what’s been going on with your layout, thanks for sharing.
Your welcome Stormmy. Thanks for the comment and the continual support. Mick.
Another great video , the layout is superb a d the sound of the trains through the headphones is amazing, looking forward to seeing the overhead gantry system on lines 1 and 2 , in video 116 , Roy Castles song comes to mind when watching Roy Castle of world record breakers , rip , dedication ,it's the best I've seen 👏 great work
Welcome. Thank you very much for a excellent comment, much appreciated. Roy Castle, that's a name from the past I do remember. Have made a start on the over head system but taking along time for west hill wagon works to send me the parts. Wires have also been out of stock from Rails Sheffield. I think I will have to do a video with what I have. All the best. Mick.
Sorry, I got bored within five minutes.
It just goes to show, you can't please everyone.
8:14 what’s it cost to put a driver in ? Mick asked. About £60,000 a year
Not these days, now talking 70k. All the best. Mick
Wow
Just found your channel, im just in the process of resetting up a layout and the first time doing it myself so its a fun learning curve. I think your layout is amazing and ill 100% be using your tips amd tricks and hopefully one day mine will look half a realistic as yours. Good job mate
Hi James. Glad your on board. I hope my layout will inspire you all the way. It just takes time and imagination and a bit of cash. Good luck with your project and may be see you on UA-cam some day. All the bet. Mick.
The problem with sound engines is the space inside. Therefore they were lighter than other engines. I use MÄRKLIN short couplings with NEM Pocket shafts..GREETINGS FROM GERMANY ! Exception are some models by TRIX e.g. class 66 / 77 ! A very superb railway layout ! Have a lot of fun with your railway !
Thank you very much for your comment, much appreciated. Will have a look at Marklin couplings. Will be in Hamburg next month to visit Wunderland. All the best to you. Mick.
Awesome video I love your train layout and all the different trains you have
Welcome back. Thank you for watching and your comment. Take care. Mick.
Hi mick your layout is fantastic, great use of space so much on it. Love the parcel force depot. What colours did you use to weather your track and the colour you used to paint the sides of the rails? Once again great layout.
Welcome Gary to the channel. Thanks for watching and your comment. I use Phoenix precision paints. Heavy rust on rails done with a paint brush, then light rust, track dirt done with a air brush. Thanks for asking. Mick.
Mick, Buffers look twisted on 66 727
Thanks Alan. I should have adjusted them before the video. But it is a Hattons ?. Mick
Any motor issues with your accurascale class 66 climate hero?????
No. As you can see on the video no problems at all. All 3 running very well. Thanks for asking. Mick
Hi mick, another fantastic video chief, can’t wait to see the over head lines up, now that will look the business, a lots of masts to do, 66s sound amazing, can’t wait for dapple to bring out the O gauge ones eventually I’ve been waiting for time for them to come out, hope you’re well, take care chief, 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Mark. A bit better than the 1min 50. I may also purchase a O gauge 66 to run at our club or have it as a static display. Nice seeing you at the show, my next one is the GET show. Will you be going there. All the best. Mick
@@michaelsmith-hn1cnyes it good to see you at the show, & meet your friend also, yes I can’t wait to see the 66s been ages waiting for them, ok cool, not sure yet as wasn’t a fan of gets to tight and squashed in, but take care & have great weekend, congrats on the views also 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Nice to see large rakes of wagons. Not in to steam or your era with 66s, they do look nice models; but that doesn’t mean I didn’t find the video interesting. Looking at some of the other modeling done was inspirational. Especially the school building behind the water tower. Reminds me of my secondary school building. Was this from a kit?. Can’t say I’ve seen anything like it so is it scratch built. Nice one regardless. Now subscribed.
Thanks first of all for watching and your comment and of course the sub. Welcome aboard. I don't really model an era, I buy and run what takes my fancy. I do have more diesels than steam and very few electrics. The school building is a Bachmann. This is a low relief model, which came out in 2014. You may still find one on ebay etc. All the best. Mick
All looking superb Mick. I love the "Climate Hero" loco, I think that is a brilliant livery. Not sure about the overhead catenary but that's progress I suppose.
Hello David, hope you and the family are good. Yes I have been asked a few times about over head wires, so have decided to give it a go. West hill wagon works system is magnetic so easy to take down if I wish and should be easier to install. Thanks for watching. You take care. Mick & Shirley.
Excellent Mick, The added detail in the 66s looks amazing, ATB to you.Stuart
Cheers Stuart. Yes you can't beat Modelu for detail. Take care. Mick
Excellent a joy to watch great variety of freight trains
Thanks Paul. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the comment.Mick
Nice work Mick adding the crew detail in the cabs of your 3 new Class 66. Do you have a favourite ‘Shed?’.
Thank you for the comment. Good question. I think Climate hero is stunning, but Evening star paint work is also great so number 2 for me. Saying that they all look good. For me a loco needs crews to set them off so that's the first thing I do before they run. All the best. Mick
Fantastic running shots Mick, is there no end to the number of loco's you have in your fleet. Great figures, makes all the difference to the front of your loco's. Regards and cheers Barry.👍
Thanks Barry for a great comment. Glad you enjoyed the session. Yes can't beat Modelu. Take care. Mick
My dad passed away recently and it was our plan to build a layout. I live in a 1 bed flat not much room. Any advice to help me in his memory to build it. Money is tight.
I am really sorry to hear of your lost. I also have just lost my mum 2 months ago. Do you have a garden shed, that's how I started, if not a board from the wall or lowered from the ceiling. Just buy what you can afford and just keep adding when you have a bit to spend. You Take care and enjoy your build. Mick
I mentioned in my message before asking about doing overhead wires. Did i trigger something in you to try this. Also have you ever run night runs. Keep up the good work.
Yes I must admit you hit a soft spot. I have been a few times so lets give it ago. Thank you for watching and your comment.Take care. Mick
Awesome Running Michel such a stunning Layout I can Never Get Enough your Detail Work is Simply Perfect thanks for sharing a shame not many think the same and Sub to You Thanks
Great comment, thanks you very much. Appreciated. All the best. Mick
good vid of running trains
Thanks. for watching and your comment. Mick.
Hi Michael, great running session again love the long rake’s I got five of the Accurascale 66s just been running my climate hero with Accurascale cement wagons before watching your video cheers Al
Thanks Alan. They are truly fantastic loco's. Thanks for watching. Mick
Hello Mick. I am new to the channel and i really enjoy your videos. My question to you is. Have you ever thought of installing overhead wires to the layout.
Welcome Ian to the channel. Thanks for watching. Yes I have purchased a couple of masts from West hill wagon works from the last show I went to to see how they will fit. Tunnels could be a problem. If I do put over heads on it will be on the tracks 1 & 2. Keep watching. All the best. Mick
I love the curved via duct bridge looks Fantastic
Hi Toucan. Thank you for watching and your comment. Viaduct was made of ply wood, covered with a Das clay, scribe with a small screw driver. Paint and weather with a air brush. All the best. Mick
