Bye master. This little piece of music and Carl Sagan defined my life. Now I am astronomer.
Saludos
And I my friend safe travels
And I my friend safe travels
I am become astronomer, destroyer of ignorance.
Carl Sagan was a truly great man. This music is incredible!
This music gives me hope and purpose when I feel lost. Thank you Vangelis forever.
RIP Vangelis - thanks for the sounds, you will not be forgotten. Say hello to Carl.
And to Stephen Hawking.
Love „Cosmos“ with Carl Sagan, watch it in the 80‘s in german tv!!!! Of course the music too❤️❤️❤️
@@TheReaperMan275
And to Demis Roussos too!
we are the way for the cosmos to know itself
i was in the clouds when i heard that comment, i then transcended to another dimension...
So beautiful and poetic ❤🙏
@@masterluisYTV We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
@@DCMACNAMARA-vh6op dope meaning.
The BEST of Vangelis. The Cosmos is the place where we come from, and where we'll return at the end.
good i agree you grab the sense
This music deserves more up votes, like billions and billions more up votes...
I remember Johnny Carson doing a skit imitating Sagan saying "billions and billions..."
Great TV series, but dated now as humanity learns more. Carl you are sadly missed, but you will always be remembered ❤
CARL SAGAN THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER MAN LIKE HIM. HIS VOICE WAS NEVER FORGOTTEN. AND YOU CAN BET ITS IN SPACE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO FIND IT.
Why are yelling ? Wtf
@@Sorter_123 Perhaps he has just problems with his sight and so it's easier for him to write only with capitals and he didn't mean it as shouting at all.
@@gunterangel the world is in severe need of people like you 👍🏻
@@Sorter_123 Thanks ! 😊
@@gunterangel you are most welcome ,we really have to become good friends 😇🫡🤝 what do you think ?
I mean this great interaction must have something within it .
Vangelis, may your soul be in peace. I hope you are already traveling across the universe, filling all the corners with your music, as you did in earth. R.I.P
This song, and the monologue lead-in by Carl Sagan that began the first episode of Cosmos...I saw that at age 8, and was completely entranced. I have been hooked on space my entire life because of Carl Sagan and Vangelis. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
R.I.P. YOUR MUSIC AND YOU ARE AMONG THE STARS NOW AND FOREVER.
You play amongst the stars now.
I was 21 when Cosmos first aired on PBS in 1980. In 1996 I was accepted to grad school at Cornell. I was so excited about maybe bumping into Carl Sagan. Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after I was accepted and before I moved to Ithaca.
The show was incredible, and this music was perfect. It was my introduction to Vangelis and it has stuck in my memory for more than 40 years. A few years later, the music for Blade Runner was perhaps even more perfect.
RIP, sir. Here's hoping your star is somewhere near Carl's.
I remember when I was finishing my physics studies and I carried out experiments listening to Vangelis and when I got home I used to watch Cosmos, with the calm voice of Mr. Sagan. Now, I am finishing my post in solar energy and in another country, far from home, but in the company of Vangelis again (and of course the great Mr. Sagan, since he is one of my scientific references). Like the ancient Greeks, they will be in eternity because of their inspiring work.
Simply one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life - God bless you, Vangelis!🙏
Achingly beautiful
RIP Maestro.
Rest in Peace maestro, we love you.
I can't begin to tell you what this music means to me. I watched every episode of Cosmos over and over. Sagan was prefect and a genius. I will miss him forever and remember Cosmos and him forever.
That resounding note is so powerful! 0:45 ❤😌
It's great how he played that low D-flat note at the end, almost sounds like a pipe organ pedal.
For all of us old enough (and lucky enough) to be around in 1980 when Cosmos went on the air, the music soundtrack was shiver-up-the-spine stuff!
RIP Vangelis, thank you for the music and memories. I stayed up late as a kid to watch Cosmos, which shaped a lot of my life.
Adieu Maestro.
Thank you for your music.
R.I.P. Maestro! The world has lost an amazing talent but his work will live on.
Goosebumps every time I hear it!

Ah, Maestro, I bid you farewell as you begin your final journey into the cosmos!
The Intro to "Cosmos".
I always watched this with my beloved late grandma.
Oma, das ist für dich!
RIP Vangelis. "Chariots of Fire" and the theme to the original "Cosmos" will forever be in my mind.
I came here without knowing it, and then I said "Carl Sagan's Cosmos!!!" Absolutely beautiful
To the soul of our keyboard player friend Haluk Özbek, who embarked on his journey in Cosmos at the same time as Vangelis.
Rest in peace :(
RIP Vangelis you were an amazing inspiration and legend.
One of many songs to be played at my viewing and funeral
RIP Vangelis Fly high Fly to Bright Star in the Cosmos
Cosmos had a profound impact on me when I saw it in the 6th grade. I don't know if it would have been the same without Vangelis music. Then, he went and did the soundtrack for Blade Runner, one of my favorite movies. I will be eternally grateful. Rest in peace.
This will be played at my funeral. RIP, Vangelis and Carl Sagan.
If any piece conveys Dr. Sagan's message that "we are star stuff" it's this amazing work. Welcome back to the Cosmos, Vangelis. We shall always have the music as you go on to create bigger and better things with every atom of your being.
I can't remember much of the series (Germany), but this theme I always bring together with the series... a timeless masterpiece, and so Vangelis will be timeless and never forgotten.
.....farewell The Great Vangelis, like tears in the rain, Far well.
RIP Maestro
RIP Vangelis
You're a star in the sky now maestro! May you RIP

Buen dicho ✨
The ONLY Vangelis track I ever liked - in fact, moved emotionally, by, as I watched and listened to Dr Carl Sagan's wonderful series.
I know I'm not alone - nor are we 🔭
No words to describe my love for this song... discovered it as a kid watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos, and through the years Vangelis became an iconic artist. He lives in my heart and soul. Great legacy!🙏🌞🔥🌊♥️
Not a song
I love this track, it takes me to some where far out in space, away from all the madness on our Earth, amazing stuff.
Me too.
all the madness on our Earth....yes.
Which was how its use by a hardline anti-paranormal down to earth grim materialist was so sly.
Totally agree with you, this iconic theme is a true gem, and is a part of the album 'Heaven and Hell's, a Major Vangelis création. In the album's context, it is a true experience to listen to this song! Highly recommend it!👍
Rip Maestro Vanghelis, Miss You !!!
RIP Vangelis ❤
A sublime poem written for Cosmos by the master.
ua-cam.com/video/0itjFhE1k6I/v-deo.html
A little late, I know, but...
no, it was NOT especially composed for Carl Sagans (a self-declared materialist) "Cosmos"-series ,
but already in 1975 for Vangelis' album with the title "Heaven and Hell" !
In fact NONE of the music of Vangelis Sagan used for his documentary was especially composed for that purpose !
All the pieces were taken from pre-existing albums of Vangelis instead !
So, ironically this music in it's original context has nothing to do with with "universe", "space" or "star dust" !
Quite sly and manipulative from Sagan to use it for his purposes of spreading his materialistic mindset thru his series, which was of course well-made apart from that subliminally ever present undertone,
( "the cosmos is all that was, is and ever will be.." and so on..)
and by doing that totally reprogram the context and the
associations of this music in the minds of the viewers,
apparently with great success,
as most of the comments under this video prove.....
Rest in piece Vangelis. This is truly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
I am listening to this today in honor of him.
RIP Vangelis! I cannot contemplate the Universe without hearing this theme in my head! Thanks for this, and all your other awesome and ethereal music!
RIP Vangelis :(
Pure and beautiful. Carl Sagan, and Evangelos. Special.
I can't hold my tears of joy with tihis.
Rest in peace, maestro.
Exquisite. Calm. Haunting.
Rest in peace, Vangelis. What we have lost, Heaven has gained and your music will be remembered forever.
R.I.P Vangelis Papathanassiou. Your music will be eternal. We were unbelievably lucky to leave and get to hear your legendary music while you composed it...thank you.

Gracias.
Rest In Peace, thank you for your art :(
Rest in peace, Vangelis.

a quintessantial obra
Inmortal.
Astonishing. Just as he did with Blade Runner.
Feels like a unique spell, breaking through my body. Soul and mind.
This music strengthens me!
I know he can't read this, but I still want to say thank you Carl Sagan for introducing me to science, critical and skeptical thinking.
He was my teacher too, even though I also never had the pleasure of meeting him in person.
Awesome on headphones

Who knew a few notes, much like our milky way galaxy, arranged in a certain manner could be so powerful.
Vangelis knew, and Carl Sagan recognized this, so he lovingly shared it with all the world.
@@RandolfRichardson hey Randolf. I said the same thing in essence on anther post. Mr. Sagan really loved & cared for us.
