I actually met up with Michael Dorn this weekend and only today after returning did I discover this video. I really really really wish I found this video last week.
I can hear Teridax mocking Mata Nui for Click's assistance and his attempts to fight the Makuta as spirits. Teridax: Heh.... Heh heh heh.... HAHAHAHAHA! I must say, dear brother, you certainly know how to make this an amusing show! Look at you! Playing as a Toa and even getting help from a speck of dust called an insect. But let's not forget the facts now! You are now just a pathetic little exile...struggling in vain to conquer a GOD. So tell me, Mata Nui.... WHAT GOOD IS YOUR UNITY NOW!? Mata Nui: The unity that comes from trust, friendship, comradery, and family is something that you would never understand, Teridax. We are not gods, despite all our power. You're a prisoner of your twisted delusions...and I am thankfully just a person trying to do what's right...and to make up for my greatest mistake. And to invoke the words of one Toa Lhikan...whatever chance and right you had to call me "brother" was lost ages ago.
This is AWESOME! The concept of a spiritual battle between Makuta and Mata Nui is such cool idea! You did an amazing job with this animatic and I really love your style! Keep it up! 💪

I’m very glad this video popped up in my recommended, truly exceptional work! You know, something your animatic reminds me of is the fact that Makuta’s ultimate defeat can be directly attributed to one of the many lessons that Mata Nui was taught by Ackar in the 2009 storyline - more specifically, on the importance of being aware of the environment around you during combat. Mata Nui directly applied this lesson during the final battle by methodically nudging Makuta towards the oncoming moons of Bara Magna, leading to the latter’s final destruction

This is way better than the legend reborn, I wish there was more emotion and dialogue between mata nui and Makuta as I fell they don’t know each other that well.
This was fantastic! I would have loved to see this ending. I also would have like to see Jaller Mahri and Takanuva fighting together in the final battle. ❤

To be honest, I hated that the story changed to have Makuta being a brotherhood rather than Mata nui's actual brother. I had always thought that they were the same entity at first. Left side of the brain vs the right side. Life vs death. One cannot exist without the other. That was the reason why Makuta put Mata Nui to sleep rather than killing him. In the final battle in the spirit world, the original 7 toa would be fighting alongside Mata Nui when they find out the truth. Hesitanting when they find out that killing Makuta would also kill Mata Nui. Mata Nui makes that choice for them. He forgives Makuta and accepts the consequences of his other half. Mata nui merges with Makuta to become whole. With his final act he restores Spherus Magna and fades away along with the mask of life.

Thanks for making this. I get that the GSR battle made more sense story wise, but Mata Nui and Makuta having a proper 1v1 hits so much harder 😅
