    I bought a 1998 Avalon XLE gold edition in 2003 for only $11k that had 80k miles on it. I drove it for another 100k miles and all I did was a tune up, brakes, and struts through that entire time. I sold it with 180k miles on it in MINT condition for $5k. I drove that car for 6 years and it only cost me about $1200 a year. $100 a month for 6 years is amazing. It ran great, had wood grain, sun roon, leather, power seats, and I put a fancy radio in it that had hands free bluetooth for phones. It was awesome. Years later I wished I had kept it. It was the two tone pearl white with the tan bottom. Loved it. Recently I have been wishing I had my 2005 GX 470 still as well. I sold that to my brother about 8 years ago and it is still running with 240k miles on it.

      My grandma had a '99 gs300. She bought it in 2002 with like 30k miles for $33k I think, then sold it last year with only 140k for just $2500. It was still in pristine condition amd was actually worth easily over $6k, but my grandpa gave their neighbor a major deal on it. He almost gave it to me though. I was 15 at the time lol 😂 really wish I would've said yes since now one in that condition is like 8 grand or more

      @@DonYeyoReaks I totally agree! That 3.0 V6 is bulletproof as well as the transmission. One thing I remember having to do was struts and the strut mounts. There was a rattle on the front end going over large bumps. That's it though. Amazing cars. I hope it rungs great for you!

      My dad also still drives a 2003 highlander v6 with leather. Basically a lexus RX. It has 180k on it and still runs great. Never any problems other than the a/c losing coolant faster than usual. My grandpa bought it before I was born when it only had like 60k on it for 13 grand, and sold it on to my mom in 2015, and after she bought a Sienna in 2018 now my dad drives it

    So I own this car, 2005 ES330 with even more options. Love it,buttery smooth, looks great even at 337k miles.
    BUT I also just purchase a V8 2005 GS430. And the brake master cylinder needs to be replaced. $1400 part !! $2400 job! What the hell!!! I still love the GS430 and I think it’s worth it. But the ES is definitely my daily and ultra comfy and dependable.

      @summushieremiasclarkson4700 20 днів тому +2

      I thought there's no way a master cylinder costs that much, and looked it up. Holy schnitzel it's true, they cell the BMC integrated with the booster in some grotesque complicated design, it's $1472. That's ridiculous. Even DIY, that's 10x the cost of my E60 BMW 545i, which is supposedly a "expensive unreliable" car, that cost me $150 to fix the master cylinder (BMW sells a repair kit, maybe that's possible for your Lexus?) Mind you still expensive, but this is disappointing from Toyota of all manufacturers.

    Ill just say, life is short, you ger one go around, money comes and goes, and isn't everything, love, experiences, memories are way more valuable, never let a few dollars keep you from having something that you really want.
    I could have bought a lot cheaper car and been very happy with it, but decided to go with a fun car that appealed to me, it cost 2X as much as the original option but so what? I'll pay on it for an extra year, big woop, in that time, every time I get in the car, I smile, every time I drive it, I smile, and I have fun, enjoy your life.
    There is nothing lik a new Lexus or Acura, both amazing cars,
    Its good to save money and important but then there is a time to spend money and have fun, Scotty has made more money than he can ever spend and he is still stuck in the savings mentality, as he himself has said he hasn't spent 7k on every car he owns over the past 30 years lol, and hey good for him, someone should tell him, he cant take it with him and if he doesn't enjoy it, someone else will.
    Seriously obviously if you need to save money and save on a car obviously buy a used Honda that will run for ever, or a Camry or corolla, for a few grand you can have a car that might last ya 20 years, but if you are ok, not pressed for cash, can afford a payment and want to strengthen your credit, why not buy yourself a car you deserve?
    There is no one size fits all here, good advice for some people.
    Do what makes sense for you and your family.

I've still got a Mazda MX5 1999, 1.8 l model, it's also got a belt and is a clearance engine. I see nothing wrong with the belts, especially in engines that won't trash if the belt breaks. I've got a Toyota 2.8 l diesel with a chain drive cam, I've been reading they're subject to stretched "chinesium" chains, unfortunately if this one breaks the engine is "trash toast"😭.
