My parents have had their 2001 Toyota 4Runner for over 23 years now and still going strong. They also own a Camry 1999, can't deny these are great cars.
My dad put 439k on his 1998 Toyota Corolla. A massive tree fell on it during a snow storm and it was completely totaled. Despite the tree pretty much splitting the car in half- the engine still started before they towed it away
Dad used to drive old Buicks with the 3800 engines. They didnt get good gas mileage but were super reliable. He now drives a 25 year old Olds also with V6. Still runs fantastic!
My dad still drives a 92 park Avenue 3.8 with the supercharger. He has 3 spare superchargers in his garage to switch them out cuz the engine will go forever otherwise.
We had two Pontiacs with the 3800. They both got 28 mpg and up on the road 18 in mixed driving. The transmission on both went out and would cost more than the cars value to repair. If I could find any GM product with 3.8 in it I would buy it.
Nice! I have an Es 330 2004 with 114k. Hoping it can last as long as yours lol. I don't doubt it though. Only thing I fixed was the muffler and brakes so far. Got it at 69k.
My brother in law is retired engineer. He is very smart and humble. They saved and invested and is financially set. The safer and more fuel efficient Lexus is mainly for Church and looking clean trips. LOL!

@@jaydee11.11 In eleven years besides changing the oil the only thing I replaced on my Camry was the radiator and the starter. I traded it in with 207,000 some odd miles. @@jaydee11.11 maintenance is second to vehicle choice. Smart buyers buy used cars and are able to keep them flawless for 5 years.... Then sell them for what they paid and do it again.
2000 Toyota Camry here. 200k miles. The thing has overheated once with a blown hose on the interstate and it still rocks solid after a hose replacement. I love the old Camrys. Super reliable. Great on gas. Comfortable and easy to drive.
We have a 1998 4-runner and it is still running fine with about 200,000 miles on it. Everything still works on it and it still looks so good we have had people roll their windows down at a stop sign to say how great the ‘98 4 runner still looks.
@@canerguener8664 It's true. I have personally seen Honda's with that kind of mileage. There was even a story of a man who reached 1 million miles on his Accord and Honda gave him a brand new one. I bet he's still driving it to this day.
Bought a 99 4cyl Camry new back in the day and lasted my 20 years without issues. Then bought a 2020 camry which am happy with and hope to keep as long.
My 1998 no rust Sienna runs soo well that I just replaced weeping engine oil seals timing belt, tensioner, cam seals, waterpump and gasketing. My mom had a 98 4Runner. Thing was reliable as hell. We had that thing for over 20 years and it still ran beautifully. We rarely brought it to the shop. We eneded up handing it to my uncle for whatever reason and he ended up rolling it and it still works just fine🤣

That era is when they were mostly made in japan then shipped and assembled in the US. Now everything is assembled in Mexico and the quality never ever recovered. I worked for an automotive supplier that built the cv joints for the Camry. That generation was built as a companion to the Lexus. So basically you were getting Lexus mechanicals. I had a 95 and 96. I drove a 2dr with the v6/5 spd. It ran really well. A rust free one is a great teens car.
Thats great news, my inherited from my mother 2007 2.2 litre has 187000kms so plenty of life left. I’m using it increasingly as my daily runabout in preference to my LR4
I've had my 2003 VW GTI VR6 for 22 and a half years so far (original owner, purchased October 2002 new), with NO major issues! I purchased a 99 Corolla CE brand new, and 25 years later, it still purrs like a kitten! It only has 115,000 miles on it, and my mechanic just told me the other day (he did a oil change) that my engine is still a baby and the car will last me for another 115,000 miles. From all the posts here, it looks like I will! Love my Corolla.
I am so glad you said something good about Nissan. I have a Nissan Pathfinder that I have had since 2008 and now I have 374000 miles and I put them all on it except for 20000
i had a monorail, 1999 transport with 3800 engine, i could not kill that van, it was the mean green and gold dream machine, everything good happened with that van, thank you pontiac
If you buy an XTerra or Pathfinder of this generation, install a stand-alone transmission cooler in place of the one integrated in the radiator. The radiators fail all of the time, and they mix the coolant and transmission fluid when they do. The result is a destroyed transmission. My friend had a 97 4RUNNER that thing still running because he bought it from my other friend and he is a handy man 🤠 he took care it good that is why it still standing.
Had 2 Toyotas, and still ran after over 400k miles. 97 solara and 99 Avalon. On my 3rd Toyota, 2010 Corolla under 150k miles, runs fine. I'll have this car forever
I am the original ownr of a 2009 Nissan Maxima with 271,000 miles and it has never had an issue. Love this car and it has saved me a ton of money through out the years. Maxima's are good cars.

My 2005 accord coupe has 379k miles and still riding smoothly and quiet, bought another honda, a 2018 with 15k miles...I'll never leave until honda does me dirty
I would kill for a brand new 95 Toyota Camry or Avalon made the exact same way today. Absolutely most reliable car ever with nothing to hate other than your in it for the long haul owning one 😅
I had camry 1996 for ten years with avery excessive conditions in iraqi unpaved roads and hot dusty weather and bad gazolen.. Its fantastic without broken down
This is the truth. My first gen Acura Legend would still be my daily if it weren't for having to play junkyard roulette any time something needs replacement.
Finally talked my dad into selling me the 1992 4 cylinder camry he bought brand new. Rarely would get driven. Has 166,000 miles. Still all original. No problems. Getting 26 mpg too. Plan on getting another 100,000 miles out of it.
I have a 06 Altima with a stick shift still going strong original clutch still bone stock only problem so far is cam sensor $29 part .....got it new and hope to have it for another 10+ years
I actually bought a 1988 4 Runner with a 22 RE engine and it had four cylinder engine, it was a 5 speed manual l. bought it @ 200k and still ran really good. Until that 1 day when it got towed and never was able to find it again. I bought it in 2000 and had it for 5-6 years the best vehicle I ever had. It was rugged and durable and could drive through the snow with ease. You never forget your 1st 4 runner just like you never forget your 1st kiss😂
I had crank roll up windows on my ford ranger. Guy pulls up next to me to ask question and I can't reach the passenger door to roll down window! Guy gave me the finger, thought I was being rude. LOL
I have a 96 camry with 140k, been driving for 3 yrs, pd $2400. Paints wearing off but it goes & Most dependble car ive owned. I hope to keep driving it.
Thanks for the great content of knowledge. I've learned a lot on cars in this channel. Been taking care of my 200k mi 2000 Subaru Outback for a year now.
Had a 1994 Camry LE with 304,000. Best car I have ever owned. LOTS of room, big trunk. Leather upholstery. Took care of it. Rear-ended & totalled two years ago. Still miss it. Unable to replace it because of high asking prices, or cars with problems. People don't sell these things. Thanks a lot, Scotty.
Had 3 of those early 90s Camrys in the family over the years. Broken door handles, electric window failures and oil burning tendencies chased us away. Subarus are all we'll drive.
I had 3 Pathfinders and really loved them, especially in the snow! On the first one in the mid 90's, Nissan recalled it after about 18 months and...replaced the entire engine for free! My second car now for the kids (and I, because I like the feeling of driving i.e. feeling the road, not driving from an insulated living room sofa) is a 2009 Mazda 2. You just cannot destroy this car. I think it will still be running when all the car park is electric... maybe never. It was in mint condition when I bought it, but kids being kids, its body has suffered multiple traces of distance and speed miscalculations. I will keep this punching bag Mazda until the kids leave the house and then look for another one!
My 04 Xterra lasted until i flipped it on The highway doing 70 and had 0 injuries. Only had 284k miles was running like new. God damn unmaintained highways.
2006 avalon has 286xxx miles 2 deer strikes 1 week apart totally ruined the hood and bumper is hanging on for dear life. Still runs good plan on holding on to it just bought a used hood
I worked at the Smyrna TN Nissan plant and we ran the Xterra down the line beside the Altima line. They had sent the Sentra to the Mexico plant so we could build the Xterra. The first Xterra’s were under powered with a four cylinder engine
I still own a 2000 with the v-6 and manual, it has a timing belt and is underpowered as hell but has been super dependable. Sat for 5 years without firing up and a quick jump later it was back on the road.
I had a 2004 4 Runner. I was on my way to the east coast when the rear stabilizer rusted off the frame. The frame was rusted through. It did run well, I liked the car, but beware of certain years where Toyota used sub standard steel for their frames.

Got 21 years and 140,000 miles and 03 Green Cavalier Coupe. I love my Chevrolet. Recommendd 5w30 convential. I run 10w40 synthetic. Puurs and takes this 2.2l dohc to 6,800 reguraly.
Chevr😮let?
I have 2004 Xterra with 280K miles and still running no check engine light. Runs good!😊
Your 67! God lord. God bless you man! You look amazing
I have a 1999 Toyota Camry with 180k miles, boy that thing drives like a dream a/c blows very cold . My 18 year old son is driving it now giving it hell and it just keeps going. Toyota makes the best cars.
I miss paying only $180 a year for insurance on my 98 Camry. Only got rid of it because I bought a manual 07 Camry.
@@edag9609 Curious how much do you pay now? CA insurance prices are pretty damn high..
@@ramon3077 Very true. I now pay a little under $600 a year. That is up about $100 from last year. I'm also in CA.
My friend had a 97 4RUNNER that thing still running because he bought it from my other friend and he is a handy man 🤠 he took care it good that is why it still standing.
Love your personality and your professionalism. You make learning about cars fun!
He's 67!!! Woah ...good work my guy
Had 2 Toyotas, and still ran after over 400k miles. 97 solara and 99 Avalon. On my 3rd Toyota, 2010 Corolla under 150k miles, runs fine. I'll have this car forever
I bought my 2002 Camry for $2000. 243k miles. I love it. I badly need struts and I have a small leak in my EVAP system.
I am the original ownr of a 2009 Nissan Maxima with 271,000 miles and it has never had an issue. Love this car and it has saved me a ton of money through out the years. Maxima's
are good cars.
They're fast too
We had an xterra for 20 years and we bought it used. Changed it couples month ago. Very good suv !!! Have now a matrix and i love him. Toyota lover now ❤
My 2005 accord coupe has 379k miles and still riding smoothly and quiet, bought another honda, a 2018 with 15k miles...I'll never leave until honda does me dirty
I would kill for a brand new 95 Toyota Camry or Avalon made the exact same way today. Absolutely most reliable car ever with nothing to hate other than your in it for the long haul owning one 😅
'85 Datsun / Nissan 720 reg cab pickup. 2.4L Z24 inline 4, 200,000 + 32mph highway with new EGR valve.
Love the old Datsun pickups.
I had camry 1996 for ten years with avery excessive conditions in iraqi unpaved roads and hot dusty weather and bad gazolen.. Its fantastic without broken down
Before you buy it think 2 things
1- it has spare parts available
2 - after selling the price will decrease more
This is the truth.
My first gen Acura Legend would still be my daily if it weren't for having to play junkyard roulette any time something needs replacement.
250K on my 2004 Tacoma and still kicking butt! Still runs like it did 20 years ago.
Finally talked my dad into selling me the 1992 4 cylinder camry he bought brand new. Rarely would get driven. Has 166,000 miles. Still all original. No problems. Getting 26 mpg too. Plan on getting another 100,000 miles out of it.
You'll be selling that car to your kid, probably. I want one for mine. 🤙
Frontiers still have a v6, Yoda went to a turbo 4 banger. I'll take a V6 any day.
If there is one thing I miss is hand cranked windows. Yeah, it's inconvenient for rear windows but i prefer manuel for as much as possible
Agreed. Manual Windows and the very minimal in electronics.
Man, the Nissan already brings nostalgia to me. Those unique led indicators fixed within their plastic holes, lovely. 🛣
had my 2001 camry xle for 7 years now nd kept up with maintenance still runs 👍
2003 town car. 155,000 on the clock. Bulletproof
Thanks for the great content of knowledge. I've learned a lot on cars in this channel. Been taking care of my 200k mi 2000 Subaru Outback for a year now.
My 2012 nissan armada is a huge gas hog but dang its indestructible. Works great i would definitely recommend it.
My 1974 Dodge Superior with the 44O v8 has over half a million miles and is still a daily driver
Camrys will always land on these lists lol I love them so much
1. Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro
2. Toyota Land Cruiser
3. Lexus LX 570
06 suburban 5.3 340k going strong . Best vehicle ever 😊
98 camry with 270k miles on it and it runs great
2004 Tundra 👍🏻
99' Camry here. Still going strong!!!!
1.2 million miles on my Toyota. 1986. Original motor and trans
The best solution to longevity of most of the cars, is the manual transmission and will go forever.
Gladly pay more for gas then repairs. Bring it on
how bout my 2004 mazda b2300.. great runner and dependable like a rock!
hi Scotty i have 2012 frontier it has 349000 with no major problem not even oil leak love it
I have a 97 4Runner with the 3.4L and almost 300k miles... I love that car more than members of my family
I love my 05 frontier. Rusting underneath cause was parked in a lawn fir years but still going
Thanks for the information Scotty
My 04 Xterra lasted until i flipped it on The highway doing 70 and had 0 injuries. Only had 284k miles was running like new. God damn unmaintained highways.
My V6 Nissan 2010 runs smooth and strong. Well made cars back then.
My brother still uses a 90's Tacoma work truck to this day. It's even seen the Blood and Crip war.
What do you think of the new Frontier V6.
Toyota dropped there V6.
I was disappointed.
On his other videos he said that it’s a reliable engine with plenty of power for ever you’ll need.
Just bought a very clean ‘97 Camry LE w/ 165K. Looking forward to driving til it drops
2000 4Runner, running fine - only issue is electronics; elec windows, lower dash lights, temp gauge, radio volume.
I missed my 2000 Nissan Xterra that had the 4-cylinder manual transmission.
I still own a 2000 with the v-6 and manual, it has a timing belt and is underpowered as hell but has been super dependable. Sat for 5 years without firing up and a quick jump later it was back on the road.
07 4Runner has 279k miles on it. Still running with no issues.
I have a 1995 lexus es 300 with 115,000 odd miles still runs great! Gonna drive it until the wheels fall off..
I had a 2004 4 Runner. I was on my way to the east coast when the rear stabilizer rusted off the frame. The frame was rusted through. It did run well, I liked the car, but beware of certain years where Toyota used sub standard steel for their frames.
I drove a Pathfinder from a customer i was Fun and I still have my 98 Camry wich my dad bought 22years ago i got it 2014 and it is still Strong :)
