    Greetings from the UK. I'm an old fart who learned photography on film cameras, I was basically forced into buying a DSLR when 35mm film was on the way out. It took me a long time to get used to the technology but I always missed the manual control you have when you shoot film. As I aged it became more difficult to carry around a bunch of lenses and a couple of camera bodies so I've been looking for something smaller and lighter. I found the LX100 and I love it. It has manual controls but with the added benefits of auto focus and a lot of other features. The lack of a touch screen that tilts is of no consequence for me, I just love the manual settings I can achieve and the photo's I'm getting are excellent and I don't have a huge bag on my back. The LX100 is perfect for me. I do also have a Lumix superzoom camera (TZ90) which is my go to camera for distance work. Thank you for sharing this video my friend, it was very enjoyable.

    Which camera in your opinion would be the best for very low light video , I have a hard time with low light videos Gopros are not the best choice as you know and your right phones aren't great , but I must say my phone does better than my gopro any help would be great

    Great video and good info. Struggling with which camera to buy, one of these or the Canon G7X Mark II. BTW, does the LX-100 have a flip up screen or just the 10?

    • @JustinReves
      @JustinReves  6 років тому

      Only the LX-10 has the flip up screen. They’re all good cameras!

    I just had the RX100 V for some testing during the past 3 weeks. I have to admit I shot some nice 4K footage on it.......
    when it shoots.
    The battery is horrendous, the 4K heats up the camera faster than anything I have seen.

    • @JustinReves
      @JustinReves  6 років тому +1

      Yeah I think you only get about 5 minutes of straight 4K but the other thing about the RX-100 V is that the autofocus is perfect which is handy when vlogging!

    • @SUPERTOMMO
      @SUPERTOMMO 6 років тому

      Justin Reves Yes the auto focus is truly awesome! (And the Panasonic’s AF is quite.... terrible)

  • @POSYPANO

    Hey, I need a camera for vlogs.
    I wonder about the:
    Lumix lx15, Sony rx100 m3 because I have them at the same price. You help?

    • @JustinReves
      @JustinReves  6 років тому +1

      I'd take the LX-15 over the RX100m3 because of the better lens and video features. RX100V would be the ideal choice, but if you can't do that, do the LX-15.

    I own the LX-10 and like it a lot. The 4K video looks great. My only area for improvement, I wish it started at 18mm. 24mm isn't wide enough for Vlogging. I'm too big in the frame!

    So big problem with the Lx 10 that nobody seems to talk about. I had one and for some reason it does not allow you to use HDMI output to view or monitor the screen, which can be a dealbreaker if you ever want to use it as a webcam, just something to keep in mind.

  • @MorkusReX
    @MorkusReX 6 років тому +1

    The problem is that the LX100 is basically the size of a small mirrorless camera (and cost about the same). The lens is non removable, and yet it is not weather sealed. I don't know.. I would love to have one, but it's hard to justify the price.

  • @richardvillareal2244
    @richardvillareal2244 5 років тому

    So they’re almost identical feature-wise ? Only differences are the sensor size, EVF, hotshoe, and widest aperture?

    • @JustinReves
      @JustinReves  5 років тому

      Touch flip-screen on the LX-10 is probably the biggest feature aside from the sensor and lens - which work out almost identical on the widest end and then a bit better for the LX-100 as you zoom. LX-100 has more knobs/buttons while the LX-10 has the touch screen.

      Justin Reves thats nice, so its almost like a smaller and much compact LX100? Does the LX10 have a multiple exposure feature? I always fo double exposure photos, would be nice to do that in camera with a compact. Thanks

    LX-100 have a Micro 4/3 sensor, LX-10 have 1" sensor. This is the main difference, LX100 just have bigger sensor.

    • @JustinReves
      @JustinReves  6 років тому +5

      I’d say the biggest difference is the flip-up touchscreen on the LX-10 vs all the extra manual controls on the LX-100. Whole the LX-100 has a micro-four-thirds sensor, it never actually uses it all. It’s always a crop of it depending what aspect you’re shooting at. So it’s actually closer to half-way between a 1” and MFT. But I REALLY like the photos that come out of the LX-100.

    • @Marty4650
      @Marty4650 6 років тому +2

      It really gets complicated. While the 4/3 sensor is twice as large as the 1" sensor is, the LX100 doesn't use the entire sensor. The camera "crops" the 4/3 sensor in order to get multi aspect ability. So it really is only about 1 1/2 times larger. And this also explains why it only delivers 12.8 MP from a 16 MP sensor.
      On the other hand, the LX100 sensor has much more resolution due to having 20 MP. This means you get better fine detail and can crop more to extend that 24-72mm range into more like 100mm or 135mm at the long end. The LX10 also has a slightly faster lens, starting at f/1/.4. Add to that the fact that the 1" sensor has much newer BSI technology ("back illuminated sensor") so it will perform about as well as the larger older sensor will. It also has a touch screen that flips up, making it a very compelling choice.
      Despite all of that, I actually prefer the LX100 for it's better ergonomics and controls. I'm really looking forward to see if the rumored LX200 will add a touch screen that tilts up and down. If it does, I may have to buy one.

      Marty4650 LX200 = flip up touch screen, 24MP 4/3 sensor with 20MP effective, 20fps, f1.6 - f2.8 24-85mm, ISO 100 - 51K, 4K video with no crop and available in 3 colours - white, black and silver.

    • @JustinReves
      @JustinReves  6 років тому +2

      But the LX-10 has a faster lens, newer processor, and better screen.

    • @dafo446
      @dafo446 6 років тому

      Justin Reves lx100 has a m43 sensor, which mean only 2x crop factor while the lx10 is 2.7x crop, mean the lx10 f1.4 is slower compare to lx100 f1.7, yes aperture crop do apply, bigger sensor need bigger lens! Mean more light can get in!
      And by the way there' s no other glass could compare to this 10-32mm f1.7-2.8, a normal mft zoom lens with constant f2.8 12-32mm is 800$
      And this came with a camera! With event lower fstop at 10mm! this is god tier lens make by leika! This camera is like a magic wand on big sale but with a catch that you can only use it with your foot! The camera is meh the main price here is the lens! Too bad its a fix lens! Or else this lens could be easy over 1k price
