    Thanks for the reminder to be aware of moles and spots and to get them checked if they change. I’m coming up on the anniversary of my melanoma diagnosis. Mine was a spot I had had for years that changed. Glad your dermatologist is keeping track! And, so glad you got a clean bill from the cardiologist. Totally understand being concerned when it takes longer. I get full body CT scans every 3 months and whenever they are different, I kinda freak.

    I've never had a kid, but getting an IUD was not that bad for me. It was much easier than people had made it out to be. It hurts, but I was lucky enough that the pain went away in less than a minute. You will hear a lot of stories about how bad and painful it is, but you aren't going to hear the stories about the people who had it super easy, like. It's like with reviews, people with problems are more likely to leave a bad review than people who didn't. Follow your gut, but trust me, not having your period (or having it be super light) is worth it.

      My first one was easy, moderate pain, second I cried in the chair and all the way home (driving myself because I thought it would be as easy as first time) - sobbed every bump for the hour long ride from my doctor.
      So it isn't all that bad, literally 50% success lol

    I have an IUD and I didn't stop getting my period, I didn't realize that was a thing, no fair!! 😮 Mind you, that might be because mine is a copper/non hormonal one...🤔
    Totally fair that you are taking a break from OBGYN stuff right now, but I heard from a gynecologist and family doctor that getting an IUD inserted is generally easier for women who have had babies, if that makes you feel any better for when you are thinking about it again!
    Love this empowerment via information about your health, I 100% agree! ❤❤

      My OB/GYN told me some women experience no or shorter periods with IUD. For me mind have shorter the before, when I mine place I had mild cramping but having it taken out is painful because you are awake and told to take some ibuprofen before having it taken out but if the strings are short the chances they may not be able to remove it and you will need surgery. And that's me right now, they are able to remove it in the office so now I have to have surgery to remove it

    Have you ever tried to use a menstrual cup? It has completely changed my life!! You only have to change it in the morning and before bed. It takes a little adjusting to but it will save you a TON of money!

    I understand wanting to take a break from gyn stuff for a while. I have an iud after having 2 kids and the insertion pain was not bad at all. A pretty significant pinch but it's pretty quick and now I don't have to do it again for 8 years. Also, the first 8 weeks were a little rough for me as far as mild cramps and bleeding but now I get a pretty light period and that's it which I'm happy with as they were pretty significant before.

    Lisa! Have you looked into diva cups or another version of a menstrual cup? Changed my life!! Definitely a learning curve but I will never go back to tampons/pads.

    IUD was sooo worth it imo. I've spent a total of like 12 years of my life with an IUD, and didn't have a period the whole time! Also didn't get pregnant, which is a plus.

    Tampons and pads should be free and discreetly mailed to your house once a month by the government.

    I have heart failure also. I have prinzmetal angina with a low EF. I see my cardiologist end of May and get an echo also to check my EF and heart stuff! I got an IUD, helped my cycle get not as heavy but still have a lighter flow

    For any BC method, be prepared for a 6 month or more adjustment period. I have only had the implant and would bleed everyday 😩 It never stopped so I removed it after 1 year.

    The IUD went straight through my uterus and they had to use a camera to find it to pull it out it was incredibly scary and painful because I was wide awake with no numbing anything I felt like I was having contractions and my body was pushing to get whatever they had up there out and they're trying to tell me to relax and stop but it's my body doing it it was horrible worse than giving birth I will never get the IUD again

    Do not worry if the echo takes longer sometimes. Because trying to perform an echocardiogram is like looking deeply at the inside structures of a egg while it's boiling in water and moving around. The heart is constantly moving because it's pumping and there's blood sloshing around in it.

    I have a IUD from what my OB/GYN told me many women can experience having no or shorter periods. Having the IUD place isn't bad but having it take out is the worst because you're awake and not giving anything, you just told to take some ibuprofen.

    L Tampons are actually pretty cheap at Target. I get the mixed box with 2/3 regulars and 1/3 supers which lasts me about 3 months! Also highly recommend their maxi pads.

    I'm on the Depot now and it works good it just sucks at the end like the week before you have to go get your another shot you cramp really bad in spot but it's only for a couple days better than a whole week in the same note I want to get off of it and want to try the nuo ring I would love to do a completely natural way and get all these extra hormones out

  • @aloofhermitcrab
    @aloofhermitcrab 7 місяців тому

    I dont like BC at all for me. I tried a non-hormonal IUD after I had my son and it was awful, too. My experience may have been different from everyone elses but every month I would get my period and contractions. Not cramps. Literal contractions. I had work as well so working through it was a nightmare. I had it removed after only 2 months.
    I’m jealous of the good experiences, honestly haha

    What does it mean to be diagnosed with heart failure? I got a heart echo last year and my heart was on the lower end of normal… so going back for another one soon to check if it’s improved or stayed the same.

    Lisa, how can you say medical things don't bother you much anymore and then call an IUD implantation "horrifying"? It's almost the lowest invasive procedure you can have now. You might find the implant in your arm better, but that one involves an incision to insert.

    • @HannahH255
      @HannahH255 7 місяців тому +3

      Really? Because every story I’ve heard of IUD insertion is that it’s incredibly painful. There’s typically no pain management, and if there is it’s only an OTC pain reliever like ibuprofen. Women’s pain isn’t taken very seriously in the medical industry.

      I've had 3 kids and 2 failed epidurals.. I was not prepared for the absolute pain that I felt during insertion and the cramps that followed. It WAS horrifying. I thought something was wrong because I was told " it wouldn't be too bad. It's like menstrual cramps" and no.. it was not. It was way WAY worse.
