    UFO's Wild Willing and Innocent album is so undervalued in 80's hard rock. They took some artistic chances on that album that make that album one of my all-time favorites.

    Neil Carter played keyboards, guitar and sax. When he played with Gary Moore he would sing some of the songs on tour. He later became a music teacher in Brighton.

    What a blinder. I saw them on their '83 farewell tour as a teenager and Neil's sax break was such a heartbreaking moment. He went into a bit of Coltrane at the end! Best hard rock band ever. Mogg had such a unique and powerful voice. Man was a poet.

    You would have to be a huge fan of this UFO album, "The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent" (like I am) to even know that. This album didn't get the recognition it deserved. I don't care if Schenker's not on it. The reason why it got pushed aside.

    Going to see these on Tuesday 12th March 2019, 50th and final tour I'm lead to believe. Shame Schenker won't be with them though. That was their best era IMHO. I knew the guitarist here,Paul Chapman, personally though (he's moved out to LA now), and he does an exemplary job. He was also outstanding in the Welsh rock outfit Lone Star too (do a search for the Bells of Berlin or the Ballad of Crafty Jack)
    He once gave me a guitar lesson sitting on the edge of the stage in the Moon Club Cardiff many, many moons ago. A real nice bloke,as they say round my way.

    This was a minor English hit right?
    Great song, one of their most diverse songwriting achievements. Neil Carter did his fucking best to give UFO as much of a commercial push as he could with all his musical talent contributing. I feel like this stuff could have been bigger. The label probably wasn't into pushing UFO as much as newer bands at this point, I'm assuming? Both this and "Back Into My Life" should have been monster hit songs. I guess maybe it was already a couple years late for this kind of working class commercial hard rock.
    I'm glad Neil is playing with UFO again. Are they playing any Paul Chapman era UFO music still? This stuff was great. Just superb songwriting, and Chapman has a very unique style that is just different than Schenker, not better or worse. This era of the band was very Thin Lizzy esque.

    They were an underrated band. This song was one of their strongest on many levels. UFO’s difficulty was they changed their image and style of music. That’s why only musicians, mostly, know about the band.
    They opted for a sax playing some songs (which certainly wasn’t “metal”). Judas Priest certainly wasn’t doing that, for example.
    Crossing over was something you could maybe do in Europe, but they weren’t going to break in the US doing that. Nor with the dorky huge blues guitar Neil was playing here. No doubt, an awesome musician, but image is 80% over on this side of the pond, unfortunately.
    Also Losing Michael Schenker hurt their songwriting. Even though Tonka was decent. Not special, but decent. His tone, nor his feel of playing were at that “superb” level.

    • @rushshukla4636
      @rushshukla4636 2 роки тому +2

      UFO were never a cliche metal band, they had far more to offer. They went from strength to strength with Paul Chapman and made four of the best hard rock albums with him. He was a very capable guitarist with memorable solos, this one of them. They had class. That's what separated them from the others and endears them to their fans. They also had the songs which made them the envy of many.
