UFO is the GREATEST band of all time, just so underrated. They have stood the test of time with many guitarists , Schenker being my favorite until Vinny stepped in. He brings so much more to UFO's sound.
Wow, I must admit I had forgotten how great this song is. But hearing it again after many years in this version.... simply magic. Goose bumps all over.
Hate comparisons of guitar players Schenker has so much class he took Vinnie Moore as his opening act on the unforgiven tour and loaned him his band cause he couldn't afford his own at that time. My 2 cents for what it's worth Vinnie is a better technician Michael is more creative therefore Michael gets a slight edge like I said before hate comparisons there both legendary and this series of ufo videos during the short time Jason Bonham was in the band has been a fantastic find on you tube thanks Phil. VINNIE and Jason RIP Paul and Pete
@@jeffreybrady927 Try me is Michaels favorite lead solo. Mine is Arbory Hill on the Obsession record when he learns to play the recorder (or flute). Chapman really shines on his Firing on all six album with his former band Lone Star. Vinny adds more notes to this solo and he's a great guitarist in his own right, but I'm leaning towards Joe Perry for top dog (Shenker having been my favorite since phenomenon). All the credit goes to Paul Chapman who wrote this gem of a song!
This is a great song and UFO is a great band! Re: Mogg's Vocals. That's one part of UFO that I have never learned to appreciate, though UFO would not be UFO without him. But unlike most other singers, he's only getting better with age. I think that UFO is a guitar band AND about composition. That's why I love them! Schenker is not just a technical player but has emotion in his playing and is a great composer. I don't know much about VM but someone has to replace MS so I'm glad he's there!
Absolute MAGIC mogg is everything you want from a rock musician. Lyrics, emotion and a battered deep vocal style. This is truly a wonderful work of art-music.
"Profession of Violence" UFO Hey babe what we gonna do No look behind me glances Straight time this time We'll take our chances Darling it's been so long Every lonely hour What the sinner pulls the trigger And the world turns sour *whisper in the wind Locked in silence Profession of violence Whisper on the wind Locked in silence Profession of violence Try to pick up the pieces Maybe move away But the lifer Was only yesterday Down the halls of justice The echoes never fade Notches on my gun Another debt is paid * repeat
Lot of comments here about the solo, being a guitar player myself ( but obviously not in the same league as these guys) I feel I should put my two penith in, first of all the original was on a studio album which had countless mixes, the guitar used here was more than likley a different one to the original, as are the amps and the effects pedals , note for note it is perfect, every guitar player has a different feel especially for vibrato, thats their mark, everyone is different, ask even schenker to play that and it wont sound the same.
The original is one of UFO's greatest ballads.... and this version with Vinnie Moore plus the little orchestra is just excellent. What puzzles me to no end is why they don't do ballads anymore on their albums since they recruited Moore ! While they cover one of their best here with him !
@nikko601 Nice to hear that more people are added to the UFO fan-list especially in 2010. I've been a fan years now and I can tell you, their music is so classic that it resembles wine, with time it sounds even better! Such a shame the band never got the attention and glory it deserved, they were (and still are) amazing.
Hot damn Phil. I'm going to say it . Somehow expressively and emotionally I'm putting you up there with Cornell. Just beautiful. An Vinnie is a brilliant replacement for Schenker.
UFO ROCKS, NOW AND THEN!!!! VINNIE IS GREAT, SCHENKER WAS GREAT, PAUL CHAPMAN WAS GREAT! THERE'S ENOUGH LOVE FOR ALL OF THEM!!! AS LONG AS THE GREAT PHIL MOGG IS SINGING, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG!!! PHIL IS PERHAPS THE MOST UNDER RATED SINGER OF ALL TIME! HIS TONE IS AMAZING!! AND THEN OF COURSE, THERE'S PETE WAY ON BASS! ONE WORD "LEGEND"!!! PAUL RAYMOND ROUNDING IT OUT AS ONLY HE CAN, EXCELLENT ON BOTH GUITAR AND KEYS!! UFO AND THIN LIZZY KEPT ROCK ALIVE THROUGH THE 70'S! AND STILL ROCK!!
To all those saying the guitar should be Michael Schenker... Wrong! Paul Chapman is the man to credit for the incredible solo on the original recording. This is ok but as others have pointed out, there's a definite lack of restraint and feeling by Mr Moore. If another (late) Mr Moore had been involved, I guarantee it would have been a whole other story :)
i quit being a ufo fan after i saw them w/ tonka. his patch cord popped out of his guitar when he was attempting ( im being kind) the lead in "rock bottom". it actually sounded better without him destroying the song. vinnie is by far the best replacement ufo ever had for schenker
Me too - you can't improve perfection, he way over played it, as he does a lot of stuff, shame -less is more sometimes, I hate super speed noodles for the sake of it, detracts from the song too much.
A beautiful [rock] song and one of the many excellent tracks from the wild wiling and innocent album. Thinking about it, UFO are actually quite remarkable; they have produced so many great tracks over a life span of some 5O years. They have given us boogey space rock, face melting stadium rock, classic MOR rock, and some bluesy rock and during each era they have done some stunning work. I still listen to Misdemeanor [with Atomic Tommy who was shredding when it was usually referring to what you do to paper, not to a guitar] and find some great tracks - e.g. Mean Street, Heaven's Gate, Wreckless.
For me Misdemeanor sounds to much like 80's pop. For me the next album with Atomik Tommy, or I guess you would call it a EP (because it's short, around 26 min.) Ain't Misbehavin' is much better. More like UFO should be.
Have you lot not heard the original? from the man who wrote it - Paul Chapman! it's what you leave out sometimes VM hasn't learned this, he's brilliant, but, goes overboard way to often Tonkas solo on this song on TWTW&TI is perfect and has more memorable landmarks, sorry, but its true.
Paul Chapman is an awesome guitarist, loved his work with Lone Star. Had a guitar lesson from him one night, sitting on the edge of the stage in the Moon Club in Cardiff, many many moons ago. Proper nice guy. I think he's based in LA or something nowadays, but don't quote me on it lol.
Tonka's solo is a song in the song and deserved to be respected... I like Vinnie who's a guitar god, but sorry Tonka's solo can't be dissociated from the song... ;)
UFO was just as good without Schenker. . Chapman era was great. Love the albums with Vinnie also. You Are Here is classic the song writing second to none.🎶🎵🎶🎵🤘
Some guys are never happy: should the guitarist have played note by note the same thing as Schenker, they would be screaming it's nothing more than a bland copy. But when they discover it is different, oh lord, they want to play with Tonka toys again... Professional complainers... To me, this is really perfect, a voice that has aged like good wine, a nice meeting between classic beauty and one of rock's finest ballads... It would have been even better filmed in let's say a retro theatre for ex., but I'm not complaining...
All the modern guitarists are the same - technically very good, I'm sure, but no FEELING. Schenker nor Tonka ever felt the need to play 'flash' licks, but one note from them meant more than a fast scale from these modern guys. Gary Moore (RIP) once said of Vai - sounds like lots of practice scales tagged together. You said it mate!
Your uploads of these awesome recordings are by far the best quality on UA-cam but why don't you upload the rest of the songs they have recorded live in studio with the orchestra? Will be much appreciated if you do so, thanx anyway!
As I've said about the version of "Try Me",.....awesome, until the guitar kicked in. This was another song where the original solo should only be played by the original guitarist.
Chapman actually came up with the solo before they wrote the rest of the song. This take was good but in my opinion Chapmans solo was the heart of the song.
Better vocal performance than the original in my opinion (and strings are great too) as much as I enjoy Vinnnie he can't resist noodling a bit too much. Tonka's original solo over this version would be the ultimate take. Classic bit of songwriting either way though - they just jdon't write 'em like this anymore
Classic.
RIP Paul Raymond, Paul Chapman and Pete Way
My favourite all time song by the singer of my all time favourite band. Thank you UFO for being such a big part of my musical life. Much love
А как песня называется?
Mine too brother
R.I.P Paul Raymond. A true Rock legend!!!
Rock Legend mr Phill Mogg
Phill Mogg is a rock legend...and still going strong
So sad we've lost two of these guys, and of course the guitarist of the original version.
Pete Way, Paul Raymond and Paul chapman are so sadly missed.
I agree but Phil Moog keeps pushing forward God bless them
Phil Mogg is one of the absolute best vocalists in the history of rock.
Фил Могг- супер исполнитель!! Какой оркестр! Какое прекрасное сопровождения этой песни!. Здоровья и многих лет выступлений этому незаурядному исполнителю!!❤🎉
I totally agree with that statement
That Solo is tremendous , melody speed intensity and bags of style
0:39 Pete Way - the picture of cool. RIP mate, you were loved by so many and your music will continue forever.
And so does your wardrobe :) (-->Iron Maiden)
Best shot ever!! Love this pose!

Великолепно! Очень сильная группа. Недооцененная.
Фил Могг великлепный певец, я кпждыц день его слушаю и наслаждаюсь его пением и музыка потрясающая Спасибо Фил, живи долго,
Absolument magique! Quelle interprétation avec le quatuor à cordes!
Vinnie Moore one of the most underrated guitarists that has ever lived
But NOTHING compared to Schenker - sorry.
@@michaelstephen819 I like the playing of Michael Schenker but Vinnie Moore is more diverse guitarero.
