Finished part 2 of Fomoria! Let me know if you guys have tried some of these tricks in multiplayer, or even against the AI! I know sometimes its frustrating trying these tricks, and having them fail, so I tried to keep the tricks and tactics all focused around EXACTLY how to guarantee success for you! Let me know how it goes!
These videos are a great help. I recently got the game And I tired to translate some Lucid and Perun knowledge into trying to a make the Muspelheim work, and It's really fun. Gonna need a few thousand hours before I can say "yeah, I know a little about the game".
Bahahahaha, I know the pain! I have somewhere close to ~8000 hours in the last 2 editions alone, and I still feel like I'm barely scratching the surface. Its the beauty of these games for some of us, but the thing I love is that Dominions can ALSO be simplified down to the most basic of players, so that EVERYBODY can have some level of fun with it. It feels great, doesn't it?!
Wasnt there some kind of calculation used for Dance of the Morrigans where the amount of Morrigans you got was based on the distance of the enemy from the edge of the map or something along those lines?
I don't believe so. If you read the end of the spell description, the more of them show up as "the ground is soiled with blood" or something similar to that. Morrigans, at least in history, are symbolically washing blood of the fated (to die) warriors, etc. so I think the blood is what summons them faster. In my experience, I've seen barely any of them show up when summoning them, and its like giants vs giants, and barely anybody dies, and I've seen TONS of them show up when lots of human/small units die, so I think it has to do with death, or at least damage dealt.
Great video! I like your idea of getting night vision, since you can use it to combo with darkness or twilight -> nightfall .. but in my personal opinion, I'd take poison resist instead of shock since you get shock res buffs natively and poison helps you against Foul Vapors, or fire/cold res Heroism is basically superior to def/att stat buffs because its cheaper and in practice usually ends up giving you a higher value after only a very short time + other benefits (str, mr etc) Also would be good if you showed the bless the centaurs had otherwise its kind of hard to gauge what you actually defeated, yes the chassi is white centaurs, but what does it have?
Thanks for the compliment! I love the night vision, and as you see when I'm facing a sacred (Vanhere) that seemingly has me beat, I can really lean into that Glamour to give me an advantage most players don't think about. Poison resist is great for exactly the reasons you mentioned, but I'm not depending on my troops hardly at all in this game, I'm using them as meat shields to hold off people while my mages dominate them. We have high enough base HPs (in my experience) that poison isn't an issue until ~10 rounds in, and so I chose to forsake it for the better scales. Whereas when I DIDN'T take it, my Fomorian Druid lightning spam CONSTANTLY stunned my own troops and drove me crazy :) And I mentioned the reason for dropping heroism: the problem is since our Sacreds aren't really that survivable LONG term, we lose the ability, and our biggest weakness with Fomoria is being rushed when we're fielding inexperienced troops (early). Fomoria is a force to be reckoned with if given enough time to get established, so heroism seemed to make my strengths stronger, and my weaknesses worse. I lost 3 MP games in a row to early rush Pangea/Vanheim and Abysia before I finally survived with the new bless, so I chose to ignore the heroism, as it didn't benefit me early enough. I do recognize the value in your advice, however, and with a different nation, I would certainly skew that way! About the bless: apologies, I believe it was +1 Morale (base), +1 attack skill, +5 PR, +5 FR, +1 Defence, +3 Str, Blood Surge, Spirit Sight, Combat Speed +30% and Heroism +105%.
@@AOReaper Everything you said makes sense! I didn't consider self-owning with lightning.. but I'd probably play Fomoria differently anyway, there's more than 1 way to play the nation right! I guess in this early early stage tho, with the greedy bless I'm thinking of I could get totally owned by a big sacred bumrush. Not sure how many games you're in at the moment, but I'm hosting one on CWH - boz game 2, more than welcome to join. I intend to youtube it as well, would be cool to tube the same game from different angles :)
@@dominion-master Definitely more ways to skin a cat than just one :P And yea, in my games that I ran for this video, when I ran the 105% heroism, I got stomped early EVERY game. You have to remember: other players will see that bless 1 time, and immediately capitalize. You're almost forcing their hand because if they DON'T hit you when you're weak, then they have to survive you when you're strong, and Fomoria is fairly notorious for weak early/strong late. And oh my goodness, I would LOVE to join that, but I'm currently in close to 7 games, and really struggling to keep up. When I have some more time, I'll definitely jump in with you, and cause some havoc ;) Thank you so much for the invite!
Asking for a friend ma Jotunheim you go scale or bless I think a monolith regen and magic weapons is a good idea but I will miss the scale. Or even go hell bless the saints veil and regen ring make exceptional turbo communions
Haha, alright let your friend know I feel like this is optimal ;) 1. Magic weapons is a GREAT idea. Helps a ton with your early sacred rushing opponent as MA Jotun. 2. Further investment into Thrymshirding is unnecessary: they're fine as is. 3. Instead: hyper focus on REALLY abusing turbo communions with your (err, HIS) Skratti and Gygjas. Jarnvidjas might be too expensive for this, so I would focus on the tried and true skratti + gygjas turbos. You can REALLY put the hurt on some people with essentially infinite fatigue spam with the right setup, and wipe out most armies fairly easily, including with huge battlefield wide blood spells. This has REALLY worked for me in the past, to the point of earning in game messages to the effect of "That's so cheap", which is code for "Effective" ;)
Couldn't agree more! Even growth 4 is so hard to maintain through all of the seasons that its just more of a niche strategy than something to fully depend on (at least in my mind). Let me know if you really find a way to abuse it. I've been debating using Blood Fecundity to abuse it with Pangea, but not sure how necessary/effective it would be compared to other uses for the blood slaves.
@@AOReaper the case for asphodel is for the benefits of the free spawn not the population growth. Neutral or death 1 seems to be the optimal play in most situations
@@skoub3466 I agree. It seems too difficult to rely on consistently, which is partially why Asphodel is so difficult (even in Dom 6), though I think they have a LOT of potential now, so I'm curious to dive in on them (as I made them work in Dom 5, but boy was it difficult).
@@skoub3466 Oh yea, I LOVE the carrion seed mechanic! Makes their "theme" feel so much more alive! Very nice! Somewhat weak to creatures immune or resistant to sleep, but that might give people a reason to actually use some of those Glamour blesses that NOBODY wants hahaha ;)
