    I'm wrapping up my Front-End Developer Professional Cert in a few months. This is gold! I'm nearly 2 yrs into my web dev journey learning Github, V.S.Code, and ReactJS, but I was trying to figure out how to put it all together. This video was great for giving direction in utilizing my skills to go from a client's needs to a finished website. Thanks so much for this. :)

    Excellent Sebastian, the wireframe info was new to me. I have been learning on WP from UA-cam and this is the first time I have heard of the wire structure. Cheers mate.

    Thank you soo much for this. Currently at my place of employment I work in the accounting department but have always been interested in web design. Our company has a guy who was too swamped to update our website so I asked my boss if I could take over and they both HAPPILY said yes. It’s half way done and I’m putting my spin on things. I truly feel like this was an answer to my prayers. My first client is my place of employment so it’s a win for me and a win for them.

    question:
    While getting a domain or the CMS provider who is paying for it and at what stage of the development?
    When registering to CMS who gets the credentials to maintain and update the page?
    If the page showcases a gallery of some sort, a lightbox, how does a client create more galleries and uploads more pictures? Am I as a dev responsible for such updates?

    I’ve made a handful of sites for myself on Wix before, and got really proficient at not using any templates and fully customizing as much as I could. I have graphic design experience but recently had a real estate agent come to me looking for a website based on a friends recommendation.
    Your story sounds the same as mine, I’m supposed to meet the client, and said yes to the job.
    My question is what do you think about making a website for a client using a builder like Wix?

    • @thomasengelmann2535
      @thomasengelmann2535 2 роки тому +2

      Actually i don't think the client minds, because what they want is, that you, a professional, who knows this kinda stuff, builds a website for him, that looks awesome. They don't want to know HOW they just want to HAVE it done, to focuse on more important things for themselves.
      Hope that helped!

Learn from my mistake and make sure you discuss with your client what each party will be accountable for and set expectations. Hey Sebastian, great video. One quick question...how do I go about using a domain that's already in use for a client. He already has a website but I'm renovating the page with the same domain and the same host that they used before the revamp. How should someone go about using an already existing domain? Should I take their domain info (Username and PW) and make the website with their info? Sorry if this doesn't make sense.

    • @sebvky
      @sebvky  3 роки тому

      You can redirect the domain to go to the website you're already working on, all you need to do is change some of the DNS records. This process can vary depending on your website builder, hosting platform, and/or Doman registrar. I would encourage you search up "Transferring Domain, webflow university" Cheers.

    • @StrangeIndeed
      @StrangeIndeed 4 роки тому

      I guess you could ask around see if somebody in your family has a business, or an outdated website. You probably won't be able to charge very much right away. But after a couple of finished projects, you would have a decent portfolio showing your skills, and experience. That's when you can start charging more.

      You can most definitely use Adobe XD for the mock-up. I would recommend that you only use the tools necessary to get your idea across.
      Using tools like Adobe XD drives up production cost and overhead, but if you are knowledgeable of that platform and it makes sense to use it I would say go for it.

I just graduated lambda school and we learned how to use react and other libraries and languages. Its mostly geared to get you hired at a company. But i dont want to do that at all (found out i could freelance half way through lambdaschool). I know im built to be a freelancer. I cant work under people. I have been trying to figure out how to make sure ill be successful freelancing. I am so close to just quitting my job and pursuing this but i know this isnt very responsible. :/ I definitely do not want to use react. Takes way too much time.
    Im so desperate to get started with this. Working for a company makes me feel so depressed.
