Great video. I'm thinking in starting my agency and I'm researching all this stuff. I was watching that other video you mention and I was shaking my head a bit because from what I've seen most clients just want a working page without all the technical details. When it comes to hosting the odds of a website going catastrophically down is so low anyway. As far as the domain, I wouldn't have a problem just handing it over if the client wants it, it's already been paid for. Anyway that's just me, I'm no expert yet. On to that playlist, thanks and you have a new subscriber.

Great video! I would start with getting a reseller if you have no idea how to manage a server, and then build yourself up from there. You don't want to sound ignorant to your clients from a technical standpoint for hosting. Just my two cents. Keep it up Bryce!

Not all websites are located on a single server. Cloud hosting is a great example of this. Also very large traffic websites use multiple servers across the globe where localized traffic ca go to improve speed.

I love this video first off! I helps answer some questions. However I hope you’re available to answer too more. If I’m not renting a server and I use Bluehost or AWS and Heroku, should I still charge the client for hosting? Like I pay for the hosting and then charge them the cost or perhaps mark it up? This became a concern because I’m building a site for a friend and because she’s a friend and trusting me, she gives me her credentials. Well I saw her billing information which would not be good for a client. Also if I do charge a monthly fee, what is the best way to bill them? I’m sure there are methods to create reoccurring bills for them.

Hi, Bryce. I'm thinking of starting a reseller hosting business. I have one or two clients ready but their websites are made on html. Namecheap tells me they don't help move the html sites to wordpress. Any pointers on the hosting companies that helps move websites?

Thanks Bryce this is great information - I have also went through your playlist and now plan to set up my own web hosting providing service aimed specifically at small businesses / 1 person websites for my local cities/country.
The question I have and not clear how it works and domain reselling. I know you say that you stay out of this due to complexity when/if the customer wants to leave you however I do think it helps if you can provide the domain name and hosting as the audience I would target will not be technically clear on what a domain really is (and probably wont have the patience to research this) and how it varies from hosting. From experience when explaining to non-technical audiences it does raise confusing on what is what.
Could you give any pointers on how domain reselling would work with a2hosting and how this can be incorporated into my web hosting website? Even if i dont make any money on the domain purchase, I think it would be good to still offer the 'one stop shop' where they can purchase directly my website the domain name and select the package they want with being able to subscribe/purchase on my website.

Jim Mila If this were the case and you still wanted to handle domains for your client, I would just create a brand new account per client (using NameCheap is who I use) and then give them access to that account. They may never log into it, but at least it’s somewhat silo’d off from the rest of your clients and it’s “theirs”.

Personally I’d put a line of code in the .htaccess file after a certain period of none payment that forwards all requests to their website to your website or a page that says something like:
“This company has failed to pay or make payments for their web hosting. Once the owed payments are made by the company/individual their website will promptly return to normal. Thanks for your understanding.”
Then once they make their payment(s) you simply just comment out that line of code in the .htaccess file and save then the website should be working just as it was before. Then if they ever get behind on payments again you can just uncomment that line of code. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions about .htaccess or how to do this more in depth I’d recommend just asking ChatGPT
