Hi Gaz The difference between what you got against what’s advertised on the packaging is absolutely shocking! Retailers should be held to account over this misrepresentation Thank you for sharing & have a great weekend 👍🏻
I agree Jonny 100% I’ve been making authentic Indian and BIR style curries for years and more recently I’ve been making Chinese style curries using Mayflower curry powder which is excellent Happy cooking mate!
@@kevowski Loved Mayflower but can't get it in Cyprus. I finally found a curry sauce recipe on You Tube (Teeside Chef) and you can adjust the ingredients to your own taste - happy days. Packaging misrepresentation is rife and should be stopped.
I used to work in a factory as a chef. We catered for the airlines but also did some of these ready meals for hotels. Not a lot of care went into the filling of the containers and packaging as the focus was on getting the trays filled quickly then blast chilled. These dishes will all be machine filled.
I used to work in a dairy food factory and one of the products was an almond pudding in a foil container with card lid (like Chinese takeaway) I was supposed to put about ten roasted almond halves on top and bang a lid on. Sometimes I would fill one to the top with nuts just to imagine the customer's face.
I've just tried this meal. It was one of the most delicious meals I've eaten. Simply fantastic. Quite mild as I like it. Loads of prawns and chicken. Next week I'm going to look in the Luxury cabinet at Iceland to see what else they've got in the range.
I'm gradually working my way through your videos and it's really interesting, especially when you get high priced foods with hardly any product in! Great picture from your time in the forces, thankyou for serving Queen and country. In South Africa we have our curry in a quarter loaf of fresh bread which we scoop out the soft centre and fill with the curry I don’t know why, but we call it a “Bunny Chow”…. Great way to appreciate a good curry on the move All our Indian take aways sell Bunny Chows, Give it a try..
We used to do that as kids here in England but with chips (“real” chips not the U.S “crisps”) . Two of you would “go halves” on a loaf , cut it in half and hollow it out , then go to the chippy , get a large portion of chips between you and fill your loaf and scoff it . Used to be quite the English tradition in certain areas . Now you’d probably have to remortgage your house just to afford the chips
There’s a name for that “Shrinkflation” . They’re all it , prime example which is always used is your tins of Christmas chocolates , Quality Street etc ..
I ordered a packet of 4 Cornish Pasties from Morrisons (own brand) cost about £2.50 from memory. Good value, and decent product, and I order them every month. This week they were out of stock so they sent me two Ginster's Cornish pasties. They were much smaller and the two cost about the same as the four own brand, so I refused them. Total ripoff. Also, when I worked in a supermarket, it was a badge of shame if there were gaps in the shelves because it was very rare that we ran out of stock on anything. That was a long time ago (KwikSave!). Standards have plummeted
I’d recommend anyone who likes Chinese curry try the Goldfish curry paste it’s available from Tesco for less than £3 and makes a good half a dozen curry’s. I add chilli flakes to give it a bit more of a kick. Other than that I use either chicken or prawns, large chunks of lightly fried onion and a good handful of frozen pea’s.

Can You imagine if they put a real photo of what was inside, and put the ingredients in bold, I wonder if people would even buy that stuff! 😁
Looks quite good - think I would fry up some onion to go with it - tried the liver and bacon - wife got me 3 on an offer and I'm glad she did.
Good idea
