I get the feeling that there is some sort of thought current that sees Clone Wars era ships as anachronistic and obsolete in the way that one might look at the most advanced WWII battle tech would be seen when compared to our contemporary early 21st century battle tech. I personally don’t see the difference as being that great. What I see as making the difference is in the quality of the personnel and their training, training that seeks to squeeze & maximize the full potential of the tech, especially when the focus is on improving the performance of the old tech in part by addressing heat of battle tactics.
I agree, we have only recently reached a technological level so it makes sense that our technology is far more advanced than it was say, 100 years ago.
If you ask my Clone Wars is basically WW1 (most of those designs were weird and flawed during even that time, like ARC-170) when Empire Era is more a WW2 (we still have some weird shit, but some standard designs emerge).
Anyone else think Disney was just being lazy when designing new starships? I mean, that hammerhead battleship looks amazing, and I'd like to see more ships designs like them as the new trilogy Resistance/New Republic standard. But so far, it just looks like they are slightly editing old designs.
I wish the cantobyte plot was exchanged for black squadrons’ as it contributes to the movie more. They should’ve made the characters questioning Leia and Holdo’s competency as officers as they have been leading the resistance into a worse position than the last.
Re your recent video on longest lived Aliens, could mastery of the Force *extend lifespan* - Yoda may have a longer lifespan than normal for his species (and what were they called anyway?), there was EU about a centuries old human Jedi master. I kinda hate the Canon New Republic military, mostly because it makes nearly no strategic sense to decrease the size to a token force that can be wiped out in one blow. The Legends New Republic had up to 6 fleets, maybe more, each with nearly several hundred warships each.
To be fair, Legends, unless the story took place before the prequels, always had an Empire vs. Rebellion/New Republic conflict. As for why the Canon New Republic demilitarized, Military Disarmament Act were passed by politicians who saw no need to have a galactic sized military after the Battle of Jakku.
Also, there was a lot of decentralisation going on, and the (naive?) belief sectors would build up their own defence forces, and look out for each other.
Sad that we probably will never get a New Republic show about the reformation of the Republic. I know that sounds like old stuff that would be a rehash of the Andor drama, but even LEGO stop motion content creators have done a good job with this material! If that's all that we get...come on Disney, work harder.
I would take an MC-85 cruiser, cr-90 corvette, raider 2 corvette, nebulon-c frigate, acclamator assault ship, lambda class shuttle, u-wing, t-70 x-wing, BTA-NR2 y-wing and the rz-2 a-wing.
People complain that they are using old ships well yeah you would to you have to make all the people who fought for you happy and bloated defense budgets was one of reasons People got mad at the empire. Schools and roads and coaxium prices are not going to fix them selves
You know, looking at today's world we have an 80-year old jet bomber that will serve until its centennial, 50-year old fighters... even older designs still going strong. Small arms designed over a century ago...
Allan, many of those militia groups HAVE training, because many have soldiers and/or security personell members that do indeed train their comembers. Of course that is not the basis, but it would be a grave mistake to underestimate them. Same with the Resistance, i´m willing to bet they would try to get their hands on folks with actual knowledge, able to train the others. At least if written competently. Oh, wait...

When everyone complains about THE LAST JEDI hyperspace ramming tactic... A hanger full of remote control A-wing death machines sits in storage somewhere in the galaxy. Ready to ram every Star Destroyer bridge that can be found!
The New Republic spanned most of the galaxy, the problem with it is that it was too centralized, thus the destruction of their capital was a very crippling blow.
They lost the government and their main 'security fleet' - supposedly hundreds of vessels. On 5 worlds across the Hosnian star system. Proof that putting Ibbot eggs in one basket is a bad move...
On the one hand I prefer the canon universe because it cleans the Legends universe by throwing away what is useless but on the other hand I prefer the Legends universe for stories after episode 6

Rather then border militia the Resistance seems more like an SW New Republic sorta National Guard or Inactive Ready Reserve of sorts. They just werent properly armed, equipped and supported. An if the Resistance fleet got Decimated a big question is how many ships does the Republic got left. And of their non Republic Navy allies how many troops and ships do THEY have to add to that?
New Republic Canon in Theory : Very Powerfull succesor of Galactic Republic New Republic Canon in Reality : falls right away to internal Corruption and Disspute, Demilitarizes while there is an active imperial threat still alive, Does Away Any Theory of a renewed imperial presence...even tough imperials legit sit in the Senate, and so on and so forth
A Navy that had been heavily de-militarized in the span of thirty years, and was already still quite small after the end of the war; having to rely on desperate kamikaze and guerrilla tactics during the war. Also, that wasn't all there was. The Hosnian System was just home to the New Republic's primary defense fleet and naval command. There are still pockets of New Republic forces out there. But they've been decapitated and are floundering. And the First Order pretty much immediately sent out its fleet to start mopping up whatever was left. Also, keep in mind, the Empire, being a *very* heavily militarized force consisting of 20,000 Star Destroyers, still did not have nearly enough ships to effectively patrol a galaxy of millions of star systems.
If they demilitarized their navy out of fear of central government power why not invest in planetary and sector level self defense forces and militias? These sort of factions can be very powerful. Heck, the CIS formed out of corporate security forces. Or system sized forces, like the Naboo starfighter corps or Wookie army. Could have held off the first order for a long time.
I think that's a huge waste of millions of dollars, and a huge waste of time, and effort; and incredibly insulting to all of the people who invested hours upon hours their time and hard work making them - and not just to the directors and screenwriters, but also to the producers, actors, concept artists, prop-makers, sound, editing, and special effects teams, and filming crews - a lot of whom were very proud to be a part of it; as well as insulting to all of the fans who do like the Prequels and Sequels, and would be upset to see them go. Especially the children. And if to you, Star Wars truly ended with Return of the Jedi, then I'm sure that you will have no problem sticking to just the Original Trilogy, if that keeps you happy. And have no problem ignoring whatever has, and will come out since then - including the Prequels. If you don't like the movies that have come out since Return of the Jedi, then just don't watch them.
Why is there confusion on what is the Resistence navy and the New Republic navy? Because they didn't explain the difference in TFA. Why didn't they explain that in TFA? I guess because some idiot thought putting it in a book was sufficient. I didn't buy a ticket to a movie and a book. I bought a ticket for a movie.

Claiming the Nebulon frigate was a low cost alternative to a Star destroyer is like saying a crop duster biplane is a low cost alternative to an F-22, or a Daisy BB gun is a low cost alternative to a .50 caliber sniper rifle. I mean sure their both spacecraft, but even the rebellion, which lacked heavy firepower generally used them as hospital ships instead of main line, combat vessel.
I thought this was going to be breaking down and identifying every single ship in THAT shot of the new trailer.
same, like what all of them were because he got some even more secret facts not in the original video he made
There are quite a few vids doing that anyway.
With Fallen Order coming out soon, have you considered creating a Twitch or a gaming channel? Your opening series could be Fallen Order, and you could showcase Let's Plays of Star Wars and other Science Fiction games both old and new. It would be interesting to see your unique edge brought to this type of video. It could be Generation Game or something
I do know that if you do make a gaming channel on UA-cam and/or Twitch, the game I would look forward to most would be Republic Commando
That spitfire mk14 looked a. Lot like a Harrier
So since the New Republic Navy didn't use precisely the same ships as the Resistance, does that mean no _space horsie_ Calvary?
@Branden Lamber Edited and corrected, + 1
Well except of that new republic star destroyer or whatever it's called all ships in the resistance and in the new republic are the same so far.
The Republic seemed to use a mix of refitted original trilogy designs and newer ones.
damn i did not know the spitfire had that much power, and back then cars only had something like 100-250hp thats a ton!
Yea they were going a bit crazy at the end of the war trying to push propeller planes to their max
Absolutely no one:
Allen:Mon Motha
Anyone else think Disney was just being lazy when designing new starships? I mean, that hammerhead battleship looks amazing, and I'd like to see more ships designs like them as the new trilogy Resistance/New Republic standard. But so far, it just looks like they are slightly editing old designs.
In opposition to retard who ignore context explained in the video? No they are not 0_0
9:04 good ol BLT...a classic in the kitchen and in space
I wish the cantobyte plot was exchanged for black squadrons’ as it contributes to the movie more. They should’ve made the characters questioning Leia and Holdo’s competency as officers as they have been leading the resistance into a worse position than the last.
Yeah the sequel era needs to be fleshed out more
Please do another one about the combat vehicles of the New Republic Army.
Re your recent video on longest lived Aliens, could mastery of the Force *extend lifespan* - Yoda may have a longer lifespan than normal for his species (and what were they called anyway?), there was EU about a centuries old human Jedi master.
Plus Sith Alchemy has life extension potential, according to Plagus and Siddious.
Yoda's species is just called Yoda's species
@@doorstopper674 lol no that is the name given to them by fans due to he fact that only a few ever appear as for their real name its never been stated

The New Republic in legends have better ships then those junk right here
I’m looking at you MC90 and Nebula Star Destroyer.
The Starhawk ain't no shit. I do agree that the Legends New Republic had cooler ships overall
Yeah Legends was cool, but it had weird shit, like the vong ships or others like the numerous tie fighters.
Not THAT many. We REGULARLY get new kinds of TIE now.
Also, many of those types appeared in fairly minor video games.
@@chrissonofpear1384 True. Every new movie introduces a new TIE variant
@@frankg2790 I know, but that's what makes it more frustrating. Last I checked, the First Order and the New Republic was in a Cold War, right?
Also, there was a lot of decentralisation going on, and the (naive?) belief sectors would build up their own defence forces, and look out for each other.
@@chrissonofpear1384 So in Canon, the New Republic is more fractured than my windshield after I got into a crash, right?
Certainly looks like it.
Thx for covering this.
Sad that we probably will never get a New Republic show about the reformation of the Republic. I know that sounds like old stuff that would be a rehash of the Andor drama, but even LEGO stop motion content creators have done a good job with this material! If that's all that we get...come on Disney, work harder.
The Starhawk looks like the bastard son of an ISD and a Nebulon B
I would take an MC-85 cruiser, cr-90 corvette, raider 2 corvette, nebulon-c frigate, acclamator assault ship, lambda class shuttle, u-wing, t-70 x-wing, BTA-NR2 y-wing and the rz-2 a-wing.
People complain that they are using old ships well yeah you would to you have to make all the people who fought for you happy and bloated defense budgets was one of reasons People got mad at the empire. Schools and roads and coaxium prices are not going to fix them selves
“The resistance is a paramilitary”
You know, looking at today's world we have an 80-year old jet bomber that will serve until its centennial, 50-year old fighters... even older designs still going strong. Small arms designed over a century ago...
Allan, many of those militia groups HAVE training, because many have soldiers and/or security personell members that do indeed train their comembers.
Of course that is not the basis, but it would be a grave mistake to underestimate them.
Same with the Resistance, i´m willing to bet they would try to get their hands on folks with actual knowledge, able to train the others.
At least if written competently. Oh, wait...
We got medics and stockpiles and the occasional mechanic too. They also tend to not actually be a threat to the general population, unlike Antifa: The Larping Commies
@@bigredwolf6 So you guys´ story was written competently ;)
Sim. Frischh Yea but it’s more like an action packed comedy than a sci-fi lol. If it were a sci-fi comedy I’d have myself a rail gun and a few Wampa heads on my wall lol
Do a legends one
I blame the ewoks for the destruction of the executor

For a United Kingdom! *Boom*

Has anyone figured out why the super-mega-turbolasers on the Supremacy arc in space? They aren't artillery shells, after all.
its due to hollywood magic dont question the power of their magic its bad for your health
:D
I just figured they followed the trajectory of Rian Johnson's career arc.
"Who knows if we'll get any information at all..."
Don't count on it.
On a side note, I when I heard of the Starhawk, it sounded interesting and cool. But when I saw it, I thought it looked kind of goofy.
@Harlock1776 Normally, I am all for effectiveness over beauty, my favorite starfighter/bomber is the Y-Wing, and my overall favorite ship is the YT-2400 freighter. And with the name like the Starhawk, you would figure to get a litte bit of both, but I was let down.
@Harlock1776 Ugh, that comment would make me bear my...fangs, so to speak.
It's - functional. Not ugly, but not much of a looker, either.
That's how it was described, anyway, from the start.
They should have more ships from Legends. Also, there are some other New Republic ships out there despite the destruction of the Hosnian System.
Who say that they don't? It is only small part of something what is still relatively new series.
So the restored republic would be called the grand new republic
You mention the Spitfire, and then show us a Harrier jump jet from the 90's.
2:03 when is that explained? To whom they needed to make an excuse to?! Their storm troopers?!
Retro Amateur he was talking about the leaders of the first order
There were worlds in the NR sympathetic to the FO, about half in fact.
When everyone complains about THE LAST JEDI hyperspace ramming tactic...
A hanger full of remote control A-wing death machines sits in storage somewhere in the galaxy. Ready to ram every Star Destroyer bridge that can be found!
New republic? What new republic? Wasn't it blown to smithereens by death star 3.0
Retro Amateur no stupid it was on more then 5 planets
The New Republic spanned most of the galaxy, the problem with it is that it was too centralized, thus the destruction of their capital was a very crippling blow.
They lost the government and their main 'security fleet' - supposedly hundreds of vessels. On 5 worlds across the Hosnian star system.
Proof that putting Ibbot eggs in one basket is a bad move...
@@blizzyyt2281 It really isn't worth the effort defending Disney StarWars.
Thanks for drawing upon Wookieepdia as a guide to this list, Allen.

Nice video as always.
On the one hand I prefer the canon universe because it cleans the Legends universe by throwing away what is useless but on the other hand I prefer the Legends universe for stories after episode 6
Great review on the Spitfire, What's with the Harrier?
This is going to be a series, correct? I'd like to see Imperial, Rebel, Separatist, and Republic as well
You forgot the nebula class star destroyer
Not yet, er, canonical.
@@chrissonofpear1384 are you denying the nebula existence?
I do not... want to.
I don't get why the Nebulon B was still used. All you had to do was focus fire on the connector between the two parts and it's dead.
on mass they would be very good at breaking a line as they only need a small crew to run plus its not mentioned how many but i know of at least one of them in the old EU was fully crewed by droids so not a problem for troops if it went down
Nice stuff
Resistance reminds me of the volunteers in Syria got fed up of waiting for their govt to deal with ultra neo fascists
You mean Assad or the rebels?
it is a shame that non of them have been shown in the new movies (ok except for seconds before blowing up in the helios system)
The Acclamator was still pretty heavily armed.
I really like the new cruisers in Ahsoka
Thank you so much your channel,Eckharstladder and ECHenry got me through the first lockdown in Britain
little did he know , you get nothing
Rather then border militia the Resistance seems more like an SW New Republic sorta National Guard or Inactive Ready Reserve of sorts. They just werent properly armed, equipped and supported.
An if the Resistance fleet got Decimated a big question is how many ships does the Republic got left. And of their non Republic Navy allies how many troops and ships do THEY have to add to that?
so fun conparing x-wing with spitfire... it's a good one
Do every ship in the Mandaloren.
New Republic Canon in Theory : Very Powerfull succesor of Galactic Republic
New Republic Canon in Reality : falls right away to internal Corruption and Disspute, Demilitarizes while there is an active imperial threat still alive, Does Away Any Theory of a renewed imperial presence...even tough imperials legit sit in the Senate, and so on and so forth
The adorable big eyed creature is back! OwO
Generation Tech what were the empires plans before, during, and after the battle of jakku.
Battlefront 2 story mode...
Plus Empire's End, and Lost Stars epilogue.
Do you have any info on the New Republic CD-710 Heavy Destroyer?
the ship used by Qui and Obiwan in the episode one I thought it was a joke the one they used to board the federation blockade ship
My fathers Air Force Colonel that he served directly under was a WW2 fighter pilot and shot down two ME-262 German Jet Fighters.
4:49 i think the Starhawk is lookalike gravestone from swtor instead of hammerhad crusier
Hello Allen. I love you so much. I hope you're having a great day
Why have I not seen rail guns used in Star Wars at all.
EckhartsLadder did a video on that
THey occasionally pop up in Legends. The AT-TE supposedly had one as main barrel gun, but there's little visual proof of it being one.
Cool!
a galaxy spanning government's navy knocked out by the destruction of one star system. that makes no sense. the canon explanation is weak.
@@mitchellhayward6492 Would've been nice to SEE THAT happen on screen as opposed to a boring 2 hour chase with a faction I couldn't care less about
This guys vocal intonation is exactly proportional to my excitement for the new movie.
The Resistance vs. Florida State Militias. State Militias would win for sure.
All these big ass sweet ships. And in the star wars universe they can be taken out by a single fighter.
I love you Allen
If they demilitarized their navy out of fear of central government power why not invest in planetary and sector level self defense forces and militias? These sort of factions can be very powerful. Heck, the CIS formed out of corporate security forces. Or system sized forces, like the Naboo starfighter corps or Wookie army. Could have held off the first order for a long time.
This is making me want to play star wars battlefront 2 again...
The nebula class destroyer was not mentioned.......
The GR-75 is the best ship the New Republic has
Who here thinks Star Wars truly ended with 'Return of the Jedi", and we should start the sequel trilogy over from scratch again, raise your hand👋🏽👋🏽
The prequels were great.
What about the army???? Is it still sucks like the rebel???
holy ship holy ship!!!
we want to see the venator liberation
Why is there confusion on what is the Resistence navy and the New Republic navy? Because they didn't explain the difference in TFA. Why didn't they explain that in TFA? I guess because some idiot thought putting it in a book was sufficient. I didn't buy a ticket to a movie and a book. I bought a ticket for a movie.
It was a deleted scene, yeah.
Looking at the poster... Was Leia a Bolshevik?
