You guys are awesome ❤❤❤❤
How can u not love these guys
IP man is a classic
I loved _Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings._
Everything Everywhere All At Once should have been included on this list.
The fact there’s not one Jackie Chan film here is actually criminal There’s definitely at least a couple he’s made from 2000-2023 that could’ve made the list
Yeah. The karate kid.
exactly
Drunken Master for one!!!!
No its not. If you look at the martial arts aspect in his movies there weren't many. In the early movies he relied on traditional Chinese martial arts sometimes but later on(like late 90s) he just started swinging around in his movies and used acrobatics and that was it.
👍👍👍
Rumble in the Bronx will always be a Martial Arts Classic.
i own it on blu ray good film
one of my favourite jackie chan movie
True and agree, that came out in 1996, last century.
The Raid is the absolute groundbreaking martial arts movie of the new century, should have been undoubtedly on top of the list.
Agreed, especially since Crouching Tiger came out in 2000, which was last century.
Jet Li’s Fearless is overlooked and forgotten a lot but it’s such a great movie.
i own it on blu ray it has 3 versions i haven't watched it yet
i like Cradle 2 the Grave with jet li and Dmx do you
It was very successful when it was first released. Also his movie Warlords with Andy Lau and Takeshi Kaneshiro is very good and rarely gets mentioned.
_Fearless_ is a great movie but why all the wires? Their use was more restrained than an average Wuxia film but, especially in a biopic of a real fighter, still totally unnecessary.
The Raid and The Raid 2 were exceptional! Punkat Silat is such an awesome martial art.
Pencak Silat
@@flytipping8314 correct. Predictive text
Agree
The Ip Man series is so so good.
Raid is not only a great martial arts but also one of the greatest action movies along with John Wick .
Ong Bak so brilliant.
Hats off to Tony Jaa, Jet Li, Donnie Yen, Scott Adkins, Michelle Yeoh, Iko Uwais (hope I got the name right) and many more to give such awesome movies
I finally watched them all of Ip Man while it was on netflix. It is cool its based on a real guy. But a majority on this list def should have been ahead of Ip Man. I just didn't think it was as good as others.
I must be the only one who thinks the John Wick movies are overhyped :D
@@rng81 I still haven’t seen those. I hope not. But it’s how I felt when some people mentioned Ip Man.
@@rng81 worth all the hype
@@rng81 johnwick is shit. the enemys miss shooting in 5-10 foot wtf is that??? this film boring and non logics, stupid enemys. overate af.
It’s pretty cool that each Martial Arts film has different styles of martial arts, such as Ip Man with Wing Chun, and The Raid known to have Silat.
‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ was indeed AMAZING.
It won over few Oscars in 2001.
Not 21st century though
@@noelscully8477exactly
“You don’t belong in a fight, you belong in a sweatshop, so go ahead *Spits* make my iPod.” Clint Eastwood
Greatness.
what movie is that line from
@@noiamyourfather1104Epic Rap Battles of History. Bruce Lee vs Clint Eastwood
Squints not spits 🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@d3ath_shadow610 the squint part was his last bar in the first verse, he spat during this bar.
Black Dynamite (2009) Michael Jai White Is one of my favorite actors underrated AF
It's funny, but the martial art in it is average at best.
He's the best
i like undisputed 2 i haven't seen black Dynamite yet it's on prime video
He was in a deleted scene in kill bill. Does that count?
Undisputed 2 is his best movie
Thank you for including 'Fearless" in this list. It was a brilliant movie starring Jet Li, and, imho, was his most brilliant movie, full stop.
Might be my number 1 tbh
for martial arts brutality, nothing beats the movie " the night comes for us "
Saw your comment and watched damn it’s really brutal
The raid was so shocking and tense and awesome the first time I watched it, really gave me a feeling of ass kicking thrill ride. But now having watched both the raid and raid 2 multiple times the raid 2 is way better. The story is more complex and interesting with excellent pacing of action and story scenes. Lots of really great fights and lots of creative fights and uses of cinematography. It feels like once the raid became successful they wanted to elevate everything in the sequel and they honestly did. The karambit kitchen fight is an obvious stand out but the 2 prison scenes the hammer and bat scene the debt collector chase down the empty club ambush. The hammer train scene was also a great stand alone scene that really entertains without dialogue and for me that's one of the epitomes of the genre is that it can fully capture your attention just through motion.
I would also suggest watching The Night Comes For Us if you haven't yet. It's another excellent movie imho starring Joe Taslim and Iko Uwais
@mrlaidback83 thanks for the recommendation
Agree
one I would give an honorable mention to is "the Man from Nowhere" martial arts is not its primary focus but at the time it did feature some the best knife and close quarters combat scenes around
Just my opinion but as a lifelong martial arts movie dork, I do not understand why _Man From Nowhere_ gets so much love. It's a good overall flick but none of the fights are even decent until the finale and even then it's just okay.
How tf you make a Martial Arts list and not have a single Jackie Chan film...🤦
jackie chan.s great
'Cause this list is only of martial arts films from this century and Chan's output from the last 20 years hasn't been all that good. Certainly moments but I can't think of one film that would qualify.
I almost forgot about a couple of those. One of my all time favs is King Fu Hustle. I watch it a couples time year. It is fantastic. I enjoyed this list and agree with most.
i own Kungfu hustle on blu ray good film funny as well
Great list! There are so many awesome martial arts movies out there. I have a soft spot for "Reign of assassins" and I feel like its somewhat underrated.
Great channel!
This is a wonderful list of films I’ve seen and ones I need to see.
The Night Comes For Us deserves a mention here. Also, how weird is it that Mortal Kombat wasn't good enough to make the list?
The night comes for us is a great movie but if you're talking about the 2021 remake of MK, you don't have to wonder why it's not on this list... More MK fans hate this movie than love it
All of the MK movies were BAaaaadddd... as in not good
Kill Bill 2 definitely doesn’t have better action than The Night Comes For Us or John Wick 4
What an excellent list! You celebrated films I've seen, and you gave me new ones to check out. I knew what #1 was gonna be (how could it NOT be that?!), and #2 is one of my personal favorites.
How could it not be number 1? How about the fact that it came out in 2000 which is the last century!
@TStone-qv6rw It was released in December, which is why they probably counted it. That's kinda nitpicky though.
Best of jackie chan movies is before 2000 ill say, but not having undersputed 3 and blood and bone on this list is a criminal offense. The one by Jet li, a Transporter movie, man there are a lot of movies, this list is super hard to construct
what about undisputed 2 in my opinion it's better than 3 part 3 still a good film i own every film you mentioned on blu ray they all good films
Pretty good list. I’d change the order of some of these but for a mojo list, this is one of their better compilations. I’d like to add Blood and Bone in there because Michael Jai White is amazing and deserves some love.
Glad you’re calling out ones that need more attention!
As some who has been training in muai Thai, It is one of the most devastating martial arts there is. And I'm glad it's getting it's time in movies.
Shang-Chi over Wick 4? I disagree, but the list is amazing in itself. Thanks for sharing!
Great to see the protector and the raid on this list those movies are pure brilliance
I rarely agree on all of your entries but this one hits the spot. I've watched all of this films.
7:32 Aye!!!! Tony Leong!!!! He was great in this film! 🙏🏽💪
These Are The Best Martial Arts Movies Of The Century So Far:
Ong Back The Thai Warrior.
Kung Fu Hustle.
The Protector.
Undisputed 2 Last Man Standing.
Fearless.
Undisputed 3 Redemption.
True Legend.
The Raid Redemption.
The Raid 2 Berandal.
Boyka Undisputed 4.
Not strictly martial arts, but if you love John Wick, give Extraction 2 a look. The long takes are just awesome.
5:40 Aye!!!!! My man Shang Chi! 🙏🏽💪
This is probably the first WatchMojo list i seen where I can't even argue with the rankings 🎉 Yall did the damn thing Mojo
19:05 Incredible scene! Absolutely incredible! 🙏🏽💪
Wow. I would agree with this list more than any other I’ve seen on here. Except maybe missing the Night Comes for Us. Kill and Kill Again was an oldie but goody
HELL TO THE YES!!!!
As a martial artist and cinema fan, this genre is made for me to love. The Ip Man franchise in particular stood out to me as Donnie Yen kicked ass and takes names throughout the grandmasters life.
iron monkey a Good Donnie Yen movie i own the blu ray
Man, the Boyka movies are so underrated. Surely one of the best non Asian martial art movies in this century. The fight scenes in those movies were excellent!
Exactly
The Raid: Redemption was amazing. So was Ong Bak and The Protector.
Lot of good ones on this list that I have forgotten that I have seen them. Surprised Unleashed isn't on here. Happy to see Tony Jaa get love in this, but really wish that dude blew up more like Jackie Chan.
ongbak was Great
This is where the fun begins!!!!! 🙏🏽💪
This list most of my favorite martial arts movies on it and two of them came out when I was born ❤
I'll admit I didn't think they had the guts to make Crouching Tiger their #1. I definetly thought it would've been Old Boy just because of the hallway scene
do you mean the hammer scene I've seen clips but not the whole film
If I could put in one more to the list an a honorable mention, it would be Man of Tai Chi. Stars and debut direct Keanu Reeves as a under ground fight promoter for the world stage. It does have a bit of a cop story to it as well. Great fight scenes as well too boot!
keanu plays the bad Guy right
@@noiamyourfather1104 he does and good at it do mind. Not the same type of bad guy he played in The Watcher.
Great info, some of these I need to see. Thank you for putting this together. I’m a 52 year old Po. If you seen Kung Fu Panda you would understand.
The Night Comes For Us is under rated and is worth watching
What an awesome video
10:26 Oh snaps! Kill Bill is a classic! 🙏🏽💪
Y’all forgot The Night comes for Us. That movie is amazing
11:22 This movie was incredible!
6:59 There are English versions of Chocolate & CTHD(Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), out there. I saw them both.
The raid is better than all those combined. The fight scenes are epic and realistic.
Must watch
‘The Night Comes For Us’ is another absolute banger
Fuck yeah!
Can’t even describe how much I disliked Crouching Tiger. But not surprised to see it ranked where it is. I should probably give it a 2nd chance.
im not a big fan either i watched it once that was it
That movie makes me feel like I am in ancient China in HD
It doesn’t even belong on the list as 2000 was last century!
My only complaint of a miss is the lack of Once Upon a Time in Shanghai not being in the list. That movie hit me really hard when I first saw it, especially since I felt like I hadn't seen a really impactful martial arts film in a while at the time.
Jean Claude van Damme as Frank Dux on Bloodsport
You did great review plus l have all of them plus miss out they come for us in the night , brink, shocking kung-fu.
How is The Raid 2 only an honorable mention? It’s literally the greatest martial arts film of all time!
It made no send as he said it was just as good, if not better! Plus Crouching Tiger is technically last century so Raid 2 should be number 1 and the raid number 2.
No Bourne series, Ongbak series, Last Samurai 2003, Lone Wolf and Cub series, The 7 Samurai
Do a top 10 wrong fei hong moments
Wrong Fei Hong doesn't exist
All of these Remarkable and Spectacular Martial Arts Movies Throughout the Years are all Epic Badass to watch! Wherever I watched them, I Absolutely Love the Epic Badass Martial Arts Combatants Battles! Just can't get ENOUGH of them! 🥋💪🦵🤜🤛👊
I'm a little biased but, I love me some Jet Li. Kiss Of The Dragon had several great fight scenes. Ones, I would argue, that look better than the Shang-Chi scenes.
i like kiss of the Dragon i own the blu ray
I'm just glad that Hero was mentioned...
My list would be extremely biased, at least half of it would be Scott Adkins' movies.
i like scott Adkins movies bruce lee will always no 1
Thank For the Video 🙊🤯🥋🥊🥰😍😁💗💐🌟🥇🏆
Why isn’t “Kiss of the Dragon” on this list?!? It’s one of the best martial arts movies, period!
i own it on blu ray good film
even big foot knows a good film
Once upon a time in china series deserved a spot you guys!
I respect the shit out of this list, I knew crouching tiger hidden dragon was gonna be 1. The top 4 films were perfectly placed
Not one mention of a Bruce Lee film, on this list, is down right criminal.
Can u do a 90s martial arts film list
Top 10 was pretty spot on
Couldn't agree more with the No.1 spot!!!
But there is a thai movie called "Born to fight" that is missing from this list.
I've always preferred house of flying daggers to crouching tiger, hidden dragon. It's just a little better IMO. So glad to see kung-fu killer on the list, I think it's pretty underrated among Donnie Yen's other classics (the choreography is fantastic). When I heard that Hiroyuki Sanada and Donnie Yen would BOTH be in John Wick 4, it was a dream come true for me. Huge respect for these men. That fight scene in flash point is one of my favourite ever (also think that Colin Chou gets nowhere near enough respect as a martial artist and actor).
I'm far from a martial artist, but I've loved martial arts cinema as long as I can remember, and has led me to learning various degrees of fencing, kendo (kenjutsu), judo, kickboxing, muay thai, Brazilian jiujitsu. Also a bit of karate since my dad learned it in the navy, but I liked it less than other things I've tried.
this has got to be my favorite top 20 flash point at 7 is a good movie love the lost
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! Speaking of Kung Fu movies, I learned it was Bodhidharma who taught the Shaolin monks a form of martial arts known as Kung Fu, which was designed to help them defend themselves against bandits and improve their physical health. He is considered the founder of Shaolin Kung Fu and his teachings have been passed down through generations, becoming a key part of Chinese martial arts and culture. Thank you, Bodhidharma, for giving us Kung Fu, so we can enjoy Kung Fu movies today..!! 🤣🤣🤣
“The Grandmaster” is my number 1! If you haven’t seen it, please do. You’re welcome
‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ is officially one of the best damn movies in 2023 so far.
i own the first 3 i haven't seen 4 yet im waiting for the price to drop
i can't wait to watch it i thought the first 3 were Great
😂😂😂😂😂trash 🗑
I would have also included Zhang Yimou’s “Curse of the Golden Flower”. Also, where's "Once Upon a Time in China"?
Being a martial arts fan, I saw all of them, and more, well at least bits and pieces, a little of shadow not all of it. I remember going to the movie theater in 2001 and saw crouching tiger playing, it only happens in foreign country, before i enter the theater, I was in tears because an Asian movie is playing in American theater, being Asian, it's like being back home.
Best fighting I seen in years raid 1 and 2
No jackie chan movies? Also "unleashed" with jet li is also a great movie. The choreography in that is really good.
Also surprised not a single Jason Statham movie was on here. Some of his martial arts movies are pretty good as well
no jackie chan or jason statham that's just wrong
One of the Bourne fights should of been in this. Some off them are proper hand to hand combat whilst imprisoning.
Red Cliff is SO epic, such a same its not more widely distributed.
I strongly recommend Iron Monkey (1993) for any Martial Arts fan.
Been looking for Crouching tiger hidden dragon everywhere. Any suggestions?
Iron monkey was dope also
No Boyka? really?
5:40 Need more Shang Chi! 👏
Rush Hour 2 should've been given at least a shout out though! Otherwise, great list!
Not many talk about it, but Arahan is one of my fav martial arts-comedy
Kung-fu hustle is one of my all time favorites
good film
Blackbelt is an overlooked martial arts movie, if you love traditional karate its a must see!!!
Next do top 10 martial arts actors of the century
"BKO Bangkok Knockout" Ong Bak style fighting cranked up to 11! The movie is not too entertaining in my opinion but the fights should be seen by everyone who loves martial arts choreography!
Great movie
Yimou Zhang's Curse of the Golden Flower (2006), rivals with any of these. The choreography and photography are amazing. Spend 2h checking out yourself
Perfect! hav8 of 1sten! ☯️
Top 20 movie fight scenes plus the last dragon might be an American movie but it's still a great martial artist movie
The Night Comes For Us! How in the world was this NOT included? Also, Undisputed 3 deserves a spot too.
kung fu hustle inspired so many kids to learn kung fu :)
