I love my yhm R9… it’s so versatile and it sounds so good out my ExtarEP9 PCC! Out of an 18” AR, it’s surprisingly nice tone! It does has its limitations, (16” barrel or longer for supersonic calibers like .308, 6.5, 5.56 etc., no full auto mag dumps with said calibers, limited warranty, etc.). Overall good bang for your buck! 😊
Totally agree with you Jo 👍 I think my first YHM can was the Turbo K and that thing blew me away. I’m not several cans deep with them and they still continue to impress. 😎👌
@@CalebDowningback again…man this video has a really chill vibe to it but packed with info I would have loved to had a couple years ago… hell I’m debating a couple of these cans now. Thanks again.
Thank for for taking the time to make this comparison. A suggestion for next time if I may: could you please pin the trigger back a little longer after each shot? The suppressors are each so quiet that the trigger resetting almost becomes the dominant sound. Shooting to bolt lock would also work since the trigger won't reset and it would eliminate the sound of the bolt returning to battery. Thanks again
Man, I'm happy I went with the fullsize Mod 9. It's super light for being 7.7" long. But that R9 is very tempting. I might just buy it since it's so cheap. Makes a good dedicated PCC suppressor. I'm currently using my Mod9 on a AP5-P but using EZ-Lok and fixed spacer instead of the 3 lug. The 3 lug just has too much wobble for me to be comfortable shooting.
The Mod9 SK sounds pretty good so I imagine the full size Mod 9 would sound really nice 👌 I finished up my R9 review and it’ll be posted in a couple weeks, it’ll be on Patreon first. It’s a great can for the money. It’s a great can on its own merits in fact. I would recommend getting one if you need a can in that niche 👌
Love the review! What are thoughts, if you will, on the Cash 9K vs Mod 9SK? Contemplating on the 2. But can’t find many comparisons videos. Thanks for your input.
Thanks man 👍 Hmm, the Mod 9SK is a very lightweight can that takes the edge off. I prefer it over the Omega 9K when used on a pistol. My only experience with a real flow through can was the Ventus 9 from Replicator USA. That can did a significantly better job at reducing back blast than any of my other 9mm cans. It wasn’t as quiet as those other cans but it was more pleasant to shoot. I haven’t shot the Cash 9K but I’ll assume it will have similar performance to the Ventus 9. So if I was to choose between the two I would first decide what host the can will primarily live on. If back pressure is a priority then get the Cash 9k, if you want the smallest size then get the Mod9sk. For what it’s worth, I’m really interested in getting a Cash 9 at some point, it’s got my attention 🤔
@@CalebDowning if you can find them in stock I would appreciate your feedback and review on one! SS is always out of stock and they go quick when you get notified. What I’ve noticed is that the mod 9SK is not moving off the shelf and is always in stock so it’s kind of telling me something. I love the aesthetics but seeing it always in stock stalled me to do more research. I had to grab the cash 9k as it seemed rare and was available at my LGS. We will see. It def doesn’t look as good as the mod 9SK lol 😂. Thanks man!
This has been a Patreon project. We have several videos about it over there. At some point I’ll put the details here in the channel. Basically it’s a “Space Invader” but at about 1/3 the price 😎👌
I really like it. Now, it’s not the most comfortable stick but it’s very unique and different than most other options. If you can find a good deal on one then I’d say get it 👌
Unfortunately I have went suppressor crazy. I kind of regret it. Now that the flow through technology is getting more common. Cans just get your gun so dirty. Anything I get going forward will be flow though and my traditional cans will move on to bolt guns.
@E-roc556 Yeah, Silencerco has their version out now. I don't think flow through is as quiet as traditional baffles but, the big pros: gun runs cleaner and it doesn't change the tuning or beat the gun up as bad.
@@UncleDanBand64 yeah, I dunno tho or about silencerco but the oss csns are pretty freakin quiet….. its like voodoo how they hold back sound but let the gasses thru very quietly canceling it out using all the gasses. Amazing and as these guys get more into 3d printing these we will see even more crazy stuff in future. Have you seen cans Jesse James sold or may still sell they look like a football but are super quiet!
@@LovesM855A1 I have not seen those. At the end of the day, I just want to protect my hearing. OSS has changed their name to Huks Works. Yeah, they are quiet. I would like to see a comparison video on them. There probably is one on You Tube.
Dirty blowback, especially when shooting “wet”, is defined a drawback to traditional suppressors. I haven’t had a chance to try out a true flow-through can but man I’m itching to get one 😉
Need some details about the Noveske knockoff build. All of the suppressors sounded great. If you had no other cans and wanted the most versatile, it would be the Wolfman if money is not a concern, but the R9 is just as versatile and half of retail for the Wolfman. Mod9 SK and Omega 9k will be the best for a pistol or PCC, but I ultimately went with an Omega 9k if for no other reason than the BOGO promo right now. It also comes with the booster assembly and just needs a piston to go on a pistol, but it oddly includes a 3/8 direct thread mount??? Why not 1/2 x 28 for a 9mm? Anyhow, it’s all personal preference/value here. Use the money you save with a R9 to stock up on subsonic ammo. The worst can here with that hush ammo sounds leagues better than any of these cans running supers 😂
You got to some solid feedback there man. I would say that the Omega 9k and Mod9SK would win out on pistol only applications. They are lightweight and still quite effective, especially with subsonics like you said. I believe the Omega 9k comes with e 5/8x24 direct thread. This is for use in 300BLK barrels. I think they figure if you are going to run it on a 9mm PCC then you’ll use a fixed barrel spicer or a tri-lug.
@@CalebDowning fair point - yeah, I meant 5/8 and makes sense. I ordered the tri-lug and probably would have even with the direct thread option, but that is only because it will be an AP5-P can. I don’t know if other folks want to invest in tri-lug MDs. Likewise, some folks may not even care about a pistol can; so, having to buy the piston and the fixed spacer is extra expense. Personally, I would just throw an alpha DT in there unless I just wanted an Atlas/Plan B setup 🤷♂️ So many great options here, and this is a great video to highlight how they can all shine - buy what you like and can afford without worrying about “best” as that is relative to user-specific application(s). This is what I tell myself at least. Thanks for the video and pointing me here!
Great review thank you! Im seriously looking at that YHM….. wow
Thanks!
It’s hard to go wrong with YHM cans. They perform very well, are very robust, and won’t break the bank 😎👍
