I love how atmospheric and deep the soundtrack to this episode was. I always did like the music from BoJack horseman, but I was really impressed and amazed at Jesse Novak's work in the music to this episode. Props to him for really capturing the feeling of being underwater for the whole episode.

It's the movement from 6:36 to 8:25 that first made me aware how beautiful and transcendent this soundtrack really is. I've watched this bojack episode about 12 times, just to bask in the music and how it interweaves with Bojack's silent little heroic journey.
What I loved so much about this episode is that it found a way to gently discuss the issues & complications of communication. It also talks about how we often over complicate our own narratives trying to be understood. Oh yeah, and the music is PHENOMENAL. I still come back to "Sea Port" especially, as it just takes me somewhere else. I love this show and I gotta say, "Fish Out Of Water" is not only one of my favorite Bojack episodes, but maybe one of my favorite animated episodes ever too. This show truly was something special. 🐴
Hitchcock often talked about how film & media relied too much on dialogue to tell a story when "Talkies" came around. This episode of Bojack is the perfect example of how to tell a story without dialogue. Just pure camera work and soundtrack.
BoJack horseman is super trippy, been 3 months sober (not by choice) and I watch these episodes and always think to myself, how much of a mindfuck this would be when high. Especially the drug trip where BoJack, Sarah Lynn and Todd get high to write his Memoir
Omg dare I say it actually surpasses Rick and Morty in terms of emotional depth? If that is even possible? The song and that scene where he flies, beginning at 14.00 and the point he writes about the connections we make.... I just wanna listen to that song until my ears bleed tears.
It most definitely is more emotional, not because its better per se but rather that rick and morty is more of a comedy. Bojack turned into an emotional rollar coaster with comedic elements whereas rick and morty is a comedy with emotional and philosophical elements. I prefer Bojack myself though
