6 years later, after 5 years of studying music in college, I return to this video. I remember this being a very challenging piece to me in high school. At the time I had never had any formal training. Now this is like a daily etude exercise for me. I've come a long way.
I just used Garageband on my mac. Just pick a tempo (it helps you stay with the other tracks), get some headphones, and record them one track at a time. It is a lot of fun!
Glad you liked it! For this recording I used a Shure KSM-44 microphone. I just recently switched to two Shure KSM-141's. The video was done on iMovie, and audio was on Garageband to add some reverb to the dead room I was in.
I took this song to competition with a friend and we got top score!! Thank you so much for this video, I used it countless times for practice/reference.
My instructor and I played it as a duet at my concert and it sounded buitiful and now I'm going to try out the other songs hope they are as good as this one
This guy is a bad🍑. My goal is to do this same duet with myself after not playing for years...it may take years to do, but will be fun! Thanks for this video 🙌🏻
I did not know Brendan Frank, he must have come before or after me. I marched in 2002, and 2005 as the American in Paris Soloist. The headphones were hurting my ear so I switched them. Thanks for posting!
bout to play this with another trumpet player for my studio class taught by your old teach Dan Zehringer!!! showed him this video for the idea and told me you used to play under him! keep it up man!
hi, tony! this cover is beautiful and i was wondering where you found the sheet music for this song? i'd love to do a duet to it as well. please get back to me, thanks so much! :-)
@sadtonytrumpet I have the same book. It's amazing. I couldn't be happier that I bought it. Trying to make it all the way through some of those is a major test of endurance though, like "Le Nozze di Figaro"-my friend and I tried to make it through. Didn't happen.
Nope, I have never used the Zoom's. I hear they are great though. All recordings I have posted were just a Shure KSM-44 the most recent one I recorded Snedecor Etude III was with two Shure KSM-141's.
Alexander Möller yes and my band director ordered it for us. We're rehearsing it for Solo and Ensemble. Here's the link: www.jwpepper.com/10043468.item
Tony, Awesome Job on playing the Fantasia No. 2 Trumpet Duet. I have been asked by my niece to play this at her wedding this June 27 in Rochester NY with my trumpet professor. I was curious where I can find the music. Could you help point me in the right direction?
For this video I used a Shure SKM-32 connected to a Tascam mixing board. I have since upgraded to a M-Audio USB audio interface, and a stereo pair of Shure SKM-141's that I LOVE. Hope this helps!
hey do you know where i can get the exact copy of this please any web page or can u send me a link this is really cool i would appreciate it thanks!!!!!!!!!
It is not from the Disney movie, but maybe I should work on that! It is a "fantasia," which is a form of music like the concerto, sonata, rondo, or waltz. :)
Grant, it took me a day or two, I believe. However, I still think it could be better. I would like to go back and record it now and see how much I've improved since then.
On the left, you have his right ear in the headphone, but it's the opposite on the right. BTW--do you know Brendan Frank from your time as a trumpet in phantom?

But what if I can't get a duplicate of me? How shall I perform his duet then?

@TZJiang1 I used the trumpet default reverb settings in Garageband. Usually I don't use any, but for these I was in a small/dead room.
