Since stuff needs to be cut down to 22:18 to fit the North American timeslot (more ads) they'd just make anything not appropriate for kids the first thing to go. Since both shows are already weird and sometimes have abrupt scene changes it wasn't obvious. It was nice when I finally watched the vhs versions and saw it uncut. Like getting to watch every episode for the first time twice.
I let my children watch it too. All they saw was two funny men getting into fights and hurting themselves - a bit like Tom and Jerry. The rude stuff went over their heads. We still watch it together. They are in their late 30s now.

Rik was such a character changer, so versatile in so many roles, one of the greats of comedy acting this country has ever produced! Adrian was a one dimensional guy, still funny but one dimensional in all his roles.
4:15 is burned into my memory, because back in the day of VHS all BBC comedy videos (in Australia at least) had that small snippet as part of a montage at the start. And being VHS it was usually more trouble than it was worth to fast forward through it. So I saw it a LOT. And I don't regret it.

I was helping with the lighting crew on alot of these, only 18 at the time, watched them re-hearse these scenes to figure out how to get the most laughter in different scenarios getting them "wrong".
