  • Eminence make some fantastic speakers and the Alessandro GA-SC64 is definitely one. A good customer of ours sent one in to load in a custom open back Zilla Dinky 1x12, we loved the result so much we made a short video.

    Very pleasant sounding cab. Love this man's tasty licks. He clearly has a V8 under the bonnet, but doesn't feel the need to always floor it.

    I put one of these in my Blues Deluxe Reissue and after breaking it in for a few weeks it is delivering on the punchy/tight/fat bottom end, while still pumping out that warm punchy mid-range and glassy top end. 100% recommend if you are looking for a punchy mid/low end and balancing out the top end. It was between this and the Swampthang as far as Eminence brand goes and I am definitely satisfied with the choice.

      Are you still using/liking the GA?

    My Princeton was lacking a certain crispness or “steelyness”, the lows sounds dull and soft. This speaker ended up being just the fix. Thanks for the demo guys!

    I have one of these, and it truly is a great speaker. Would be awesome if you could also do a video on the Eminence GA-SC59, which is kind of an alnico sibling of the GA-SC64. :)

    I put the Eminence Alessandro sc64 in my 2008 Deluxe Reverb Reissue amp. The bass notes became clearer and the high notes aren't shrill. The stock Italian Jensen speaker sounded thin and didnt have as beautiful bass response. I had the tubes replaced and biased by a guitar amp tech who used a voltage meter to adjust tubes that either ran too hot or cold. Came out really nice coming from buzzing with old tubes and cheap sounding stock Jensen speaker

    I was a bit underwhelmed with this in my twin to begin with but I resolved to give it a fair shake.
    No its not got the bloom or feel of alnico.
    But once broken in, it definitely does have that "wintage" sound. This is a "bright switch, lower the treble, pump the bass" kind of cone.
    Its also a fairly sensitive speaker so you have to be ready to experience JANK at low volume. Turn it up and it does break up nicely though.
    About 5 on my AB763 twin with a Tele is GROWL city.
    Great speaker and a great price. £200 for two. Nuff said.

      I really like the speaker too. We've got some comparrisons of it with/against a couple of G12-65s coming up and I'm hoping to do some with a few alnico speakers too. I wish we'd used a tele with this speaker though.

    Thanks that was Both great playing and a great sounding cab . Could you make a comparison between this speaker and the celestion a-type? When you see and hear the A-type together with the classic line of celestion speakers it feels” off”. But with this setup and style of playing Maybe it’s different ? Anyway thank you Zilla Cabs love your vids !

      Oh yeah it should work great in there. I tend to find this speaker interchangeable with with G12-65 (with the 65 being a tad brighter), and the 65 is one of my favourite speakers in the Twin... basically it should sound great in there.

    Hello, @zillacabs Could you do a comparison between this GA-SC 64 and maybe a Celestion Heritage 55 hertz and a G12H30 70th Anniversary? I’ m thinking at a comparison like this because these speakers are low powered watts. To me low powered speakers do the job.

    • @ZillaCabs
      @ZillaCabs  4 роки тому +3

      I wish we had had time to do that. We only had this speaker in for a few days but as soon as we get another one in I will do that. It is a great speaker so would be really cool to see how it works against a few of the big boys.

    Would this go well with a 61 Fender Deluxe brown face. Its has an original Jensen in it now but I want to change it out to a more powerful speaker but still keep that vibe.

    Hi, Zilla guys! May I ask for your opinion about something? I have two identical 1x12 cabs loaded with two speakers of the same wattage and the same sensitivity. Would you say that there's any point in loading these speakers in a 2x12 instead, or can I just place the two 1x12's next to each other and have (more or less) the same sound as if the speakers were in a 2x12?

    • @ZillaCabs
      @ZillaCabs  4 роки тому

      HI, those speakers should work in a 2x12, or at least technically they will. If you like both speakers then the rule of thumb is they should work together without any issues. A pair of 1x12s can work well but it depends on their build and the build of the 2x12 as to what the difference in sound would be. Again as a rule of thumb goes, if the designs are similar just with larger dimensions for the 2x12, a 2x12 will normally give an increased low end response. I hope this helps.

    Do you guys ship to Croatia? And how much more is it for a custom tolex?

    • @ZillaCabs
      @ZillaCabs  4 роки тому +2

      We can ship to Croatia without too much fuss. Custom tolexes depend on what you want and the size of the cab but they tend to be around an extra £50-£60 for a 2x12. Please feel free to email any specs over to info@zillacabs.com and I would be more than happy to help.

    Would have been much better to identify positions and settings. This wasn't very helpful.

    • @ZillaCabs
      @ZillaCabs  Рік тому +2

      No it wouldn't, unless you are using the exact same gear and same playing technique, knowing the amp settings isn't that useful. Most people aren't familiar enough with every piece of gear in the set to be able to make a judgement on the speaker based on that. Best to trust the reviewer that they dial in sounds they enjoy and trust them. Sorry that you found it so unhelpful.
