Paired with a low power valve amp (10- 20w) the Eminence has a very pleasing high-mid that smoothes out the bitey treble , soft like an Alnico speaker with a rounder treble...nice!
Nice playing! i wish they made the 10 inch SC64 in a higher wattage say 30 watt. Theres something about the Jensen... the edgyness i think, and the tone which has etched into my subconscience over the years. I have the 12 inch SC64 which im saving for a project, looking forward to trying it. Great video! Straight ahead tone difference demonstation with no gibajaba.
I think the GA-64s are like the Tube Screamers of speakers - they cut highs and bass, and bump the low mids. Plenty of people like the GAs and TSs, but I am not a fan of either.
I have the 12” SC64 in an external high quality cab and I don’t like the Speaker. It’s scooped and just not fitting to my amp. I use it with my 72 Princeton Reverb amp trough the “external speaker” output in addition to the 10” speaker which is built in the PR. I’m searching for another one right now…
@@Jimi_7-7-7 - I don't know how in the world you are hearing the SC64 as mid scooped - that speaker is probably the most mid-focused American-voiced speaker I have ever heard
@@user-cg7dg7uv8f maybe it’s my cabinet… I don’t know… just don’t like the SC64 in it. The bass is very boomy and “fat”, the highs are great, but the midd’s are “dead” and boring to me. No life in them… and I have several guitars which I can try… I’m really not a fan of the SC64. I bought it because of the great reviews and everyone is telling me how great they are… but it didn’t work for me at least.
@@Jimi_7-7-7 - Yeah, a lot of people like the SC64 because it has soft, forgiving highs - I think people who don't play very well are always afraid of brightness, as it exposes flaws and mistakes. In that speaker, I hear the low mids as being too prominent and dominating, with not enough low lows, and the highs are much too dull and muted to me. I like my Fender amps very bright and twangy like the original Oxford speakers (or JBLs) they had in them up until the 80s. I think my description of the SC64 being like a Tube Screamer is accurate - attenuated lows and highs, prominent but unexciting and overbearing mids
They both sound good to me and you’re an excellent player. I do hear the Jerry influences in your playing and I’m guessing you also may have been influenced by the dude from the chili peppers as well. I swear I can hear his style sometimes in your playing. Regardless you sound good brother. Keep it up!
Thanks. I am buying a 5 watt tube amp. Do you think the GA1-=SC64 is the way to go? I am confused- soo many opions and like doctor recommendations, everyone says the one they have is "the best."
I dig the Ga10. Has chime but also adds nice body to the tone.Nice balance .Nothing wrong with the jensen it also sounded god but might get tad spikey in the highs.
Hi, great comparison. I consider replacement of my current Emi Rajin Cajuns in Vibroverb 63'reissue by either Emi GA10 or Jensen c10q. I had GA-SC64 in12" however it was way too loud. Is the Emi ga10 much louder than the Jensen or is it roughly the same? I'm replacing Cajuns just because they're way too loud. I can't play with volume more than 4... Thanks
Michal Stacina Compared to the stock Jensen speaker that comes with the princeton, I did not hear a volume difference at all. Pretty much the same level of loudness, hope this helps! 👍
@@Booneville2024 please elaborate your thoughts on this bit more... Thanks. I know loud is relative however due to many variables in the whole chain from fingers, guitar, cable, amp rectifier, preamp tubes, signal caps, coupling caps, power tubes, output transformer and SPEAKERS... I can say that radiated and player and sound engineer perceived volume dictates very narrow playground for Mr. SWEETSPOT 😂
@@Booneville2024 the Cajuns are extra sensitive, this forced me to play the amp at 3 max (otherwise it was too loud) and the tubes and OT was not working hard enough and the amp sounded muddy with absence of any character and edge. With much lower sensitivity of ceramic Jensens I can play with Volume on 5 and nobody is complaining and the amp became alive

Very good and accurate demonstration. I’ve had both in my Princeton and currently use the GA10-64.
hows the bass response?
@@Matan2222222 Very present without being too boomy. Stays firm.
I am buying a 5 watt amp. Love the sparkle and cleans. Do you still recommend the GA10-64? Thanks!

@@MOAB-UTYes.
The Jensen C10R just sounds right to me. It's no wonder Fender chose this speaker for this amp.
I agree with you
Which replacement speaker will give you the Most Clean Headroom - while still-retaining that classic Fender Princeton Blackface chime?

that thing sounds great.. sounds like a cross between a jensen and a celestion. sc64.
