He reminds me a lot to McNabb (how he runs, passes, the plays etc) and it truly worries me... Donovan never delivered at the end of the seasons, but i hope this time around is different
32 years I've been an avid Eagles fan. I'm loving this years squad. With Jalen's progression, good draft picks and the success in the free agent market, this is a fun team to watch. If they can stay healthy, they're definitely a playoff/super bowl caliber team. *sidenote - From the first time I saw Jalen playing a significant amount of time he reminded me of a young McNabb. It seems, though, that no one else mentions that comparison. Thoughts???
Ive been an Eagles fan almost as long as you & I must agree, this squad is Air Tight. He does remind me of Mcnabb but even quicker. With this O Line & great Wide Receivers...we are definitely primed for Playoffs & Super Bowl if we continue to play at this caliber + confidence. Very fun team to watch.
McNabb's second season (2000) we played the Seahawks late in the season and he got demolished on one play. Prior to that, I would say the comparison to Jalen is fair although McNabb always had a very strong arm. McNabb did not see the field well and we didn't have an amazing offensive line for him to pass behind, Andy inherited Ray Rhodes' short list of drafts and Rich Kotite's absolute mess, which meant McNabb often scrambled for his life. A defense can prepare for a designed play, but you can't calculate for a deer in headlights. After that season, McNabb really worked on becoming a pocket passer with the ability to escape and make something out of nothing and Reid drafted road graters up front.
lol hurts will never be better than mahomes. Hurts isn't even top ten yet, only when he beats good teams can he be put in the top ten. So far its too earlty to tell. But ya mahomes is in a class of his own lol.
Not sure why when Jalen Hurts slides the Refs let the defense still hit him hard. They wouldn't let that $hit happen to Brady or Rodgers. Why they letting Hurts take all these hits after he slides? The Lions game was a great example of that.

I really feel like hurts has total control over this offense and the guys in that locker room respect him and want him to win!! He’s really shutting up all the ppl who had negative things to say!!! He still is growing but man he looks good
It seems like every week, they have a different way to win offensively. That’s very exciting. I do notice the tight windows he’s throwing in to hit his top two receivers. I have a feeling, this week, the Jaguars are going to try to jump the gun on those, and have the two deep safeties essentially double team and try to jump the routes. That’s where I see a big running and short yardage game for the Eagles this week. Take advantage of the open middle field.
This squad has excellent team chemistry. 2017 vibes. One thing that might be missing is a true power back. The 2017 team had a couple of power backs in Blount and Ajayi. Bring Jordan Howard back and it will get scarier

So long as the Birds are still able to beat playoff teams like the Cards, Packers, Saints etc. It ain't a problem. I think ppl r more worried because a 4th Down Conversion was the thing between us or Detroit winning hence being afraid that we can't score in the 2nd half

I agree - but I’ve also been wondering if Siriani purposely takes it easier on the offense when we’re ahead in the second half? It’s like he eats up the clock and reduces turnover chances and trusts thr defense to continue the same performance from the previous half. It’s almost like he’s ensuring as little risk as possible while focusing solely on getting the win vs padding stats and revealing offensive strategies. Just a thought.

The play before the half against the commanders, They had ran out of timeouts on the goaline with 18 seconds left and a running clock, there wasn’t enough time to get the FG unit on so the only option was to go for it.
Great breakdown! I was on the border of giving Jalen a chance (got his #2 jersey during his rookie year) but also doubting him. I love how you put that Hurts is similar to last year but got better in the critical areas. Funny how things change, but RPO was big for us in 2017 and we were also great on 3rd/4th down situations! I have been kinda lost in the hype - including seeing him at the Vikings game - but seeing this back on tape makes me happy. He really is making that Allen leap (or even yr 2 Wentz) it seems. The play @ 9:00 was too good, I focused on the crazy accuracy and not how tough it is for the defense 😧

That D line is immense, Slay and the DBs have looked excellent and the one hole that the Eagles almost always seem to have (linebackers) seems to have been filled by Reddick and White. Let’s the facts here, jalen being a black quarterback was already placed behind the 8 ball to begin with. Josh Allen struggles first year and no one batted an eye to him being their qb going forward but with jalen they expected greatness off the rip. Jalen finally got what other good qbs have, good OL and some good wrs to help. He’s an intelligent, accurate, fast & has some amazing arm talent. Jalen been had all this talent in him but you all wanted to give up on him so quickly

Perfectly worded, on each point that I would make, even down to the point of having to do a separate segment on the defense. I believe we should clamp down as a defense, blitz our d-line every play, lb core zone d, and c & s man cov, every play. We have the defensive talent to stop every play, without penalty. As you stated, this is a pick your poison offense. The last 3 times we had that in the sb era were sb52, tb12 cheating chunky soup and t o in the sb, and Randall Cunningham in 1991 before his injury. That's not to disrespect our 1948, 1949, and 1960 world champion Eagles teams, because even back then, when we had a truly dual threat qb on a team structured very similarly to today's team, we end up doing great things.

As you stated, this is a pick your poison offense. The last 3 times we had that in the sb era were sb52, tb12 cheating chunky soup and t o in the sb, and Randall Cunningham in 1991 before his injury. That's not to disrespect our 1948, 1949, and 1960 world champion Eagles teams, because even back then, when we had a truly dual threat qb on a team structured very similarly to today's team, we end up doing great things.
