Vintage 1962 Airstream Trade Wind Land Yacht - Insights from a long time vintage Airstream owner and fan. I spent a life time falling in love with Airstreams, then a few years hunting for the perfect one for me that was restored as close to original, camp ready condition as possible - with the goal of preserving an important slice of Americana.
This is the story of a 30th Anniversary, 1962 Airstream Trade Wind. 1962 was a significant year for Airstream. Besides being the 30th anniversary, it was also the year that Airstream founder and visionary Wally Byam passed away.
While I'm a huge fan of all vintage Airstreams, I'll share why I was specifically wanted a pre-1964, single axel Trade Wind Land Yacht model when looking for my own vintage Airstream. One that wasn't too small or too big and represented what my mind's eye sees when I think of iconic vintage Airstreams.
