Denis Van der Geest had a brilliant osto for bronze in 2004 Olympics bronze match, could u show that variation?

Is this good against taller uke? And the second vatiation even?
It is like a forward throw that a back throw ... seems a de ashi barai but the opposite leg
    Thanks sensei ...
I love your demostration and your job

All these variations can work against a taller opponent - the second variation is an osoto with a slight change to direct to limit the chance of being countered with Osoto-gaeshi.

Ok but is it true that originally and the standard variation benefit the taller uke?
Or are these variations that works anyway?

@@mirkoparagano1744 Osoto-gari is a good technique for tori with long legs. But I don't think it matters how tall the person receiving the technique is.

@@EfficientJudo good observation, and its true, maybe the only thing that is different is the setting, or the set up that a taller or smaller uke do the technique

I have more legs than torso and well , Osoto and other leg techniques are easier for me than crouching down seoi nage for example but still can get Osoto sometimes against a taller oponent.

In this first variation becomes more efficient if you put your weight in the foot you're hooking and link him with the ground, like a osoto otoshi. Efficient and less risky, just remember to put pressure in the back of your opponnents knee, so it will bend and he will lose balance backwards

Osoto-otoshi can be a good way to finish this attack, but the issue with left vs right situation is uke's leg is quite far away, which could result in tori overstretching. As you mentioned, the hook on uke's knee and driving your weight is the important part, with good control, tori can finish with a reap, otoshi or hook depending on uke's reaction.

Maestro esa técnica se llama osoto otoschi, nada parecido a osoto gari

Osoto gari el barrido es a la altura del tobillo..

This is a video on variations - not the classical techniques - the first two techniques clearly reap the leg away, so are osoto-gari, the third is an osoto-makikomi, looks at the movement of tori - none are osoto-otoshi.

Efficient Judo friend, since you lift your right foot to reach the opponent's right thigh then you go ahead and pull through the corve, that technique is Otoschi osoto clarify in another comment that osoto gari sweep is at the ankle height...

There is nothing about Osoto-gari that says it needs to be at ankle height - in fact most people would describe it as being done at calf-height, and many people attack it at thigh-height - for instance here, you can see Yamashita demostrate an Osoto-gari that is at the back of the knee. ua-cam.com/video/6-zFicAVezU/v-deo.html
